We kept going through the dark lands for about half an hour. Though headmistress Yulva could have zapped us right to our destination, she avoided to do so for the sake of my health. She doubted my mind if my mind was fully stable yet, which was but there is no convincing her so when worked our feet.
Moving through a grove of trees whose trunks were painfully twisted and branches were jutting out like an arrow, a long metal gate awaited us. Spherical fruits were hanging from the branches which Yulva warned of me as poisonous. You swallow one and your heart goes boom!
On top of the gate pillars perched two winged beasts. One of the stoned beasts had it's eyes closed and it kept it's head over his rested hands. The other sat with it's back straight and wings spread out. Two sickeningly green gems were embedded into it's eyes. The metal gate had a gigantic eye carved into it from end to end. Towering brick walls stretched from either side of the metal-studded door.
Two beacons lit on the beat of Yulva's finger click. The eyeball on the door; it's pupil turned golden. It gyarated recklessly and randomly before stooping right at us as though if were analyzing who we were. A shiver ran down my spine when I sensed the eyeball undressing me. Not literally though. I thought it saw my entirety.
A line gaped between the perfectly formed eye accompanied by a crunching noise. Yulva pushed the gate open. It was a little darker again when I crossed the threshold but my vision was able to partially perceive.
The college building was so humongous I couldn't view the full of it. I jacked my head up to take a look at the spring top. The forecourt was good too.....and creepy. Too black to inspect the decorations property so I have to visit back later when there would be more light. At the center of the forecourt, viscous red fluid tootled pillar to post from a six tiered, black stone fountain. The fountain used a white skull as it's head. One could easily guess by the stench that what the liquid was.
The rain had already seized. The arched doorway connecting the college to outside was burst open and five women flooded out in a flurry towards me and headmistress Yulva.
" Mother!"
" Headmistress!"
They yelled. One of those women shared a striking resemblance with headmistress Yulva. I couldn't mistake that purple hair and yellow eyes. And she was probably the one who called out mother and that can't be me obviously.
So headmistress Yulva has given birth before? No way! She doesn't come to me as a person who has bore a child before.
" Where did you run off to headmistr-"
The five women's expression froze when they saw me with her, leaving their tounge tied.
What? Was I looking too handsome? I knew for a fact that the current me was too unkempt.
A moment of awkward silence followed. Thankfully the daughter broke it.
" What is this thing doing here?"
She eyed me with underlying contempt in her voice and truth to be told...I didn't take to it kindly.
" No. What thing are you?" I scoffed. She thought she scares me.
Three of the other four gasped and the other chuckled. Her face scrunched up. Black lightning whizzed in her hand as she raised it at me. Yulva bolted between us and took her daughter by hand.
" Stand. Down. Yunis." She worded each particularly. I couldn't see her face but I didn't think I wanted to after seeing that in her daughter's face; The deep-dug fear. She wimply took down her hand.
" But mother. It's a male." She whined angrily.
" I know. Anything else." Yulva leered.
Her daughter Yunis lowered her head an inch before saying no. Yulva then clasped her hands.
" Listen professors. This is Lyke Drakon. Our new admission. Get used to him being around from now on. I don't want a scratch on him. I made myself clear. In future, don't let me direct it to you physically."
" Yes Headmistress." They said in a chorus and I stood behind her smugly. Drakon? That's supposed to be my last name. Will do.
" If he is to die due to the education, then I won't hold you accountable. But no extra troubles from your side. Otherwise, the trouble befallen you would be inevitable. You are to meet me in my room fifteen minutes later. Now shoo! "
That's spooky! They all agreed silently and Yulva sent me a wink over her shoulder. She cut through the still group of women with me on her tail. I thought to brush my arm against her daughter but she was already enraged to the breaking point. Anymore and her head could pop.
I didn't look back but I heard Yunis grind her teeth. That was satisfying. Right. I'm nice to one whose nice to me. Belittle me and I'll make you eat shit. I entered the college. It was a straight path ahead. The walls were painted violet that depressed the mood but I liked that. Black candles burned on palm of monster hands clawing out their way off the walls. In the wide hallway, pedestals near the walls were all occupied with glowing orbs each with different hues of red and purple. Paned recesses on the walls carried black vases just above the pedestals.
I neared one set of glowing orb and vase.
" Carefull not to touch touch them. These are the souls and remnants of the grave enemies of the college down the decades kept here for exposition. They can posses your mind and feast on your soul."
I took a step back from the red revolving sphere. Then I turned to the grinning Yulva.
" There are some things I need you to understand beforehand Lyke. This college is women's only. You are our very first male addition." She revealed leaving me dumbfounded. There were no men around. I sighed at the revelation. So that's the reason those women were startled out of their asses to see me.
" Why did you offer me to join then?"
" Reasons. Don't sweat. I'll have letters delivered to all the girls here, indicating your arrival."
She said.
Was that intended to comfort me. Because I would still stand out like a sore thumb. I breathed irritation.
" Headmistress. I'm very tired."
" Of course. I'll show you to your quarters. You should be honored. The headmistress herself is showing you around." She laughed.
