Chapter 43 - Pixie's Back, That's Horrible

The alarm on her bedside table woke Mabel up as early as six thirty in the morning. She groaned loudly and sat up rubbing her eyes profusely as if that would at least save her from the immense crazy sleep she wanted to go back to. It was Monday, school day, but she was the least bit excited, she was so drained from Saturday's activities that she dedicated her Sunday at home to sleeping and doing nothing.

She shut down the alarm clock and made her way to the bathroom to freshen up and get ready for school. She would call Megan to wish her an happy birthday later, or she shouldn't do it on phone, she should do it when they meet but Megan always called her in the morning, so inevitably they would have to talk to each other. She quickly picked up her phone from underneath her favorite pillow and switched it to airplane mode, that way she wouldn't get any calls from the birthday girl.

After having showered, she came out of the bathroom in a bathrobe and started ransacking her wardrobe to pick a clothing to wear. Her eyes spotted her black sweat shirt and grey joggers but suddenly she didn't want to wear it, it looked odd to her now. Instead she picked up a black cropped top and a pair of white jean shorts. She stared at her reflection on the mirror and thought of what to do with her hair, should she tie it with a rubber band at the back of her head or.....

She instead decided to let it fall in waves on her shoulder and that worked out great because when she looked at the mirror, she was looking dazzling. A cheeky smile graced her lips at the thought that Megan wouldn't be able to recognize her. She touched her face and soon realized what was missing, her glasses which were still with Holden.

She had texted him to bring it along with him to school today and he hadn't replied her but she hoped he would bring it. She was too lazy to get a new pair yesterday as she was sleeping off, almost every teenager in town was probably sleeping off.

She put on her white sneakers and made her way for breakfast. She met her Mom having a video call with her Dad and when he saw her, he remained glued to the screen that she thought the laptop had broken.

" Angel, what's up with the look?", he asked after recovering from shock, he always knew his Mabelle was a beautiful girl but he never knew she could look almost like the young him.

" Nothing, just going different today", she said as she embraced her mom giving her soft kisses on her cheeks and heading to the kitchen to get a knife so she could slice some bread. " Florry, did you know about this going different today thing", he asked his wife as he saw Mabel walk away from the screen. Mabel came back before her mom could answer turned the laptop screen to her side. " yes she knew", she answered for her mom while buttering the sliced bread.

" Dad when next would you be back home?", she asked purposely changing the subject and he stayed still before replying, " Uhh in two weeks time, I heard the neighbors dog, pixie, is back", he said to have Mabel's eyes widen in shock. " Pixie's back, that's horrible", she said frustratedly and her Dad chuckled. " No no, you shouldn't say such things about a dog dear, dogs are friendly animals", he said to have Flore sneer at his words.

" Friendly animal my foot , come live with us now, maybe you would see how friendly he is very clearly when he poops in that dumb lamborghini of yours", she said and Mabel chuckled at the fact that her Mom gave her Dad a befitting reply. " someone's jealous that she just doesn't ride a lamborghini to work", he said from the other side but Flore just humphed, " Call in the evening", she said and ended the call, turning to Mabel she took in her daughter's appearance.

Mabel who had just stuffed a full loaf of bread in her mouth stared at her mom puzzled, by her intense gaze. " What?", she asked for her Mom to sigh softly. " Go to school Mabel, read your books and don't let anything get to you too much", she said to have Mabel nod, she could tell that her mom was advising her but on the basis of what.

She soon left the house, got in her car and droved off to school, this was going to be a long day.
