As soon as Mabel reached her locker, just as she was about to type in the code, someone hurried over to her side and she could basically guess who it was, because the person always smelled like honey. " Mabel, I've been trying your line since like forever and they keep saying it's unreachable, did something happen to your phone?", Megan asked as soon as she got close to Mabel.
Mabel acted like she didn't hear any of Megan's question or ranting just now and with a smile, she turned and greeted Megan, " Good morning", she said smiling sweetly like she just earned herself a million bucks but all it did was make Megan pout in disappointment. " What's so good about the morning when almost everyone in school doesn't remember the most important day of my life", she said and rested her head on the opposite locker.
" Happy birthday Megan Pierce", Mabel said when Megan least expected and that was enough to get the girl back in high spirits as she immediately stood well and hugged Mabel very tightly. " Oh my God you are literally the first person to tell me that, thank you", she said after letting go of Mabel and Mabel flashed her one of those dimples cute smiles.
She turned around back to her locker to open it and after it clicked open, she brought out her literature textbook. " What do you mean, I'm the first person to wish you? I thought someone would have by now", Mabel asked while arranging her lockers and collecting all her ten pencils.
" Yes so did I, but neither my dad or my grand dad wished me an happy birthday, they were just so focused on watching the morning news, they literally shoved me away saying I was making too much noise", Megan said going back to being debbie downer and Mabel sighed as she closed her locker shut.
She and Megan began to walk down the hallway to their respective classes. " Maybe they are planning on throwing a surprise party for you and they are just pretending to not remember, I have seen that trick a lot in movies", Mabel said hoping that would be the case but Megan quickly shook her head in disagreement.
" I would have known if that was the case Mabel but it wasn't, for real Mabel, they didn't even move an inch while I was gone, I spied on them through the window after pretending I drove my car away but they didn't fucking move an inch", she complained cleaning fake tear drops from her eyes and Mabel couldn't help but roll her blue eyes at Megan's drama.
" Well as a friend I can only tell you to relax and hope for the best", Mabel added as a form of encouragement but Megan didn't even need encouragement
" There is no use hoping for the best Mabel, they fucking don't remember", she said still walking down the hallway till they stopped at Biology class, Megan's morning class. " Well what about your mom, did she wish you an happy birthday?", Mabel asked and Megan sighed
" I don't care if she does or doesn't Mabel, it's not my problems, now if you don't mind, I have biology", she said and walked towards the front door. " Since when do you love Biology?", Mabel asked softly and Megan glared at the door. " I have always hated it Mabel and that's a fact but I'll do anything to get out of the dumb talks about Wendy", she said and walked into the classroom without saying bye to Mabel.
Mabel went to literature class sad and dejected, she needed to help Megan to let in her mom, she couldn't remain angry for the rest of her life, for God's sake she was eighteen today. She stumbled towards her normal front seat and brought out her pencils getting ready to count them one by one when someone's deep voice resonate behind her.
" Hello Fake bride", Holden called out and her face lifted up in a smile as she turned around to face him and he was wearing her glasses while grinning like a teenager who just got his biggest wish fulfilled, she couldn't help but smile along.
