I decided to make his life just as miserable as mine was guaranteed to be. I woke early the next morning so that I could have sometime alone. I walked slowly through the village to the edge of the forest. I didn't go to my tree. That area had been defiled when Tori found me there the other day. Instead I went to another of my favorite areas in the forest that no one knew about.
It was a field of lavender flowers. With tall light brown trees scattered throughout. The trees were slim with tiny branches, some had vines that ran all the way up the sides. I lay down in the middle of the flowers and closed my eyes. A 1000 thoughts flash through my mind. Yesterday was horrible. I knew that Tori and his mother would be coming. I knew that we were betrothed but, I never thought that they would want to go through with it. After seeing me they didn't change their minds.
I had thought that once they saw how I looked in comparison to the other girls in my village that they would want to find a way out of the arrangement. It threw me off guard that my mother was right, my cooking was enough to seal the deal. Then on top of that she insulted me in such a nice manner. Everyone felt as if I overreacted. My father may not have vocalize it like my mother did but, I could see it in his eyes and seeing him hurt killed me. This was the only reason why I decided to follow the path that was laid out for me.
I was laying in the flowers for about an hour when I heard some movement coming through from the trees up ahead in the distance. I set up and began to move backwards slowly behind the closest tree to me and I hid myself behind it.
The only thing that is usually this far out in the woods other than me are the animals. I crouched down to make myself small and calmly leaned around the tree to see what was approaching the area I was in. When I looked around the tree where I was hidden I could make out a tall figure. I knew instantly that it wasn't a animal it was Tori.
How is it possible for him to be everywhere. He just arrived here yesterday when did he find the time to explore the forest and find this place. I watched him quietly as he sat down. He was holding a paintbrush in one hand and laid a sheet of paper across the ground in front of him. He grabbed a container of ink and began to paint. This was the last place in the forest that no one else knew about. I was determined to stay hidden no matter how long it took. I wasn't going to allow him to take anything else from me he already had my dignity and my life. I wasn't about to give up my secrets.
Sometime past and soon as I began to feel some tingling in my legs. Tori rolled up the paper that he had laid out on the ground in front of him and began to leave. I waited a couple of minutes after I saw his body disappear into the forest until I revealed myself from behind the tree. I bent over and started hitting my legs with my fist until the tingling stopped. Then I made my way through the trees to a clear opening. It was the place where you can find the best herbs. I picked some to take back home with me for cooking.
I thought back to the site I had just seen in the forest. The last thing I would have imagined Troy being able to do was to paint. He was so arrogant it didn't suit the personality of a painter. Whatever he was working on I bet it was ugly. I allowed a slight giggle to escape as I was thinking about it.
