Slezzy supported one of Clay's arms over his shoulder. They had just come out of the elevator, at rapid speed, while listening to several helicopters taking off outside the building, in addition to the engines of the armored cars.
— Let's hurry! It looks like an apocalypse is about to happen! — warned Kine, pointing to the door at the end of the corridor. — The medical sector is right there!
— If I lose my arm, I swear I'll kill you all! — Clay grumbled.
— Shut up! — complained Jean.
After a few meters, the four finally entered the medical sector.
Some nurses approached and helped Slezzy put Clay on one of the gurneys in the room.
Jean realized that the entire route, from the elevator to the sector, had been soiled by the spatter of Clay's blood.
The medical sector was actually a large circular corridor, consisting of several rooms. Several employees and nurses passed by.
Jean approached one of the receptionists, ordering him:
— HEY, CALL SOME DOCTOR!
— Boy, I'm trying to do what I can! Don't you see what's happening!?
After the nurses took Clay to one of the big medical rooms, Slezzy asked the same receptionist:
— Hey! Why are so many employees leaving the sector!?
— They were summoned to assist the military troops during the resumption of the Central Bank... in case of any injury.
— Okay, but at least some doctor is staying to help my friend?
— Listen, recruit... all doctors are busy with this operation or other cases in the FMA's external area. Unfortunately, you need to wait.
— What? You can't be serious — Slezzy was enraged.
— So... — Kine said, taking the lead. — I will help them!
Kine showed the employee a type of white card with blue letters, causing him to be surprised when analyzing it:
— Miss... Lee! It will be an honor to have you by our side!
Soon, Kine kept the card and turned around:
— You need to go to the twenty—third floor, as the Captain ordered. I will stay to assist the medical team responsible for Clay.
— All right. — Slezzy agreed without hesitation, breathing deeply.
— See you soon! — Kine stared at Jean, before he could distance himself enough not to hear her.
— Of course! — he answered, smiling.
Slezzy and Jean returned to one of the elevators and soon entered.
Once there, the duo came across a large corridor. In it there were entrances without any kind of gate or barrier, which led to computer rooms, whose various employees handled them. There were also large screens, on walls, that showed the streets of the city by camouflaged cameras, view of the FMA helicopters and even the filming of the cameras that the soldiers carried with them.
As they walked in the hallway, several employees rose from their desks and moved through the rooms in a hectic manner.
There were screams from superiors and from agents who used headphones.
— Slezzy? — It was a familiar voice, coming from the small crowd.
Slezzy came across an iconic figure: the "man in a suit".
— Edward? What are you doing here? — asked Slezzy, with a friendly tone.
— I should be asking that, no!? I'm surprised! I thought the Lieutenant had some better option... among all the recruits in that dump...
— What...
Slezzy was about to move on to Edward, but was interrupted by Jean, who held him in disguise in time.
— Look! You too around here!? — provoked the man in the suit.
Slezzy got confused:
— Han? Have you met?
Jean expressed no face.
As the three faced each other, the surrounding officials kept communicating with each other about the bank robbery information.
— We met in the Blue Order... — Jean spoke with a demeaning tone.
— We have more important issues to discuss — Edward interrupted him. — What are you recruits doing on this floor?
— Captain Roy sent us here. It all happened so quickly after the emergency alert... — Jean replied.
— In that case... I think it best that you follow me — concluded Edward, walking to the end of the busy corridor.
In the short time they found themselves away from the man in the suit, Slezzy asked Jean:
— You... military... are full of mysteries, aren't you?
— No more questions, old man — Jean went towards the man in the suit. — You better enjoy your last day here. Why don't you make yourself useful?
Slezzy got angry:
— Do you really want to discuss who deserved the training spot?
— Han? Of course not! That was already decided by the Captain! — mocked.
At the end of the corridor there was a large passage, again without any gates or any barriers, which led to a huge room illuminated by strong lights and decorated with the finest materials on all floors of the building.
Slezzy entered the place, just behind Jean.
There were also several tables, computers and screens.
Many people in darkened social clothes worked there.
The room was a little less noisy than the rest of the hallway, but you could still hear the tiniest voices coming from outside.
Suddenly, a whitish—haired boy, with a small Bluetooth device in one of his ears, emerged from among the large tables that surrounded the front of the room:
— MY EARS ARE ABOUT TO EXPLODE! CLOSE THE ROOM! NOW! — he cried.
