"And who's the pretty one?" I ask, breaking the reunion mood between Geralt and Yen.
Vesemir laughs, and answers me. "Yennefer, the person Geralt was looking for."
"I see, I really do," I reply, making my words clear.
"And who would this boy be?" she asks, her expression was the worst possible.
"Swan Dim, but call me Sam." I answer, before Geralt says anything. "I see, now I see, there is a powerful magic linking the two of you." I say, and everyone looks at me with different expressions.
The soldiers, seemed not to understand, Vesemir, Geralt looked at me with curiosity, but Yen, seemed to want to dissect me with his eyes.
"How do you know?" Geralt asks, his curiosity getting the better of him.
"All magic leaves a trace, and this magic that connects the two of you is extremely powerful. It's almost impossible not to feel the magic that binds you," I reply, shrugging.
"You're a wizard? Where did you study?" Yen asks me, and the venom in his voice was palpable.
"Hogwarts." I answer. "What now?" I ask the wizarding duo, not caring about the wizard anymore.
"You and I go back to Kaer Morhen, while Geralt sorts his life out." says Vesemir, amused that I don't care much for Yen, which made her very angry.
"Then we need to be quick, it looks like visitors are on their way." I point out, not far away in the forest, heavy white points of light have started to light up.
Snow begins to fall, however there were no clouds in the sky.
"Geralt, the emperor summons you, but there is no use using your words now, we just need to be quick. I'll explain on the way, or when possible," says Yen, heading towards the horses.
Geralt gives Vesemir a hug, shakes my hand, and without saying anything else, rides off on his horse, in pursuit of his beloved, or not.
I go to the horse that Geralt brought for me, accompanying Vesemir to the stables, where a beautiful black monster, with well-trimmed hair and a good saddle, was waiting for me. I approached the horse, and let him get used to my presence.
He was docile, but I could see that if I did anything that caused him the slightest discomfort, he would try to attack me. I stroked his mane and neck, while holding a nice handful of hay in my other hand.
While I was trying to make friends with my mount, Vesemir was securing his things in his cell, and preparing for our journey. I could sense that Vesemir was a bit tense, so I decided to ask.
"What happened Grandfather? Why such tension in your shoulders?" I ask, and it seems that he was so deep in his thoughts, that he got a little startled when he heard me.
"Worried about Geralt being hunted by those guys. They are not at all easy to deal with, a very big problem comes when they show up." he says, but at the same time he says nothing to me.
"You want me to go help?" I ask, and the old man looks at me.
"And how would you do that?" he asks approaching.
"Well, I turn into an owl, fly in the direction they went, and if things are too much trouble for him, I interfere," I answer shrugging, it wasn't hard at all to do that.
"I'd feel better if I knew they were okay," he says, and without wasting any time, I run to an open area and become an owl.
I begin to fly in the direction in which Geralt's group left, keeping to a good height, being able to see the road far ahead. It was fortunate that Vesemir asked me to come along, because contrary to what I knew, this time the hunters managed to catch up with the group.
There were only two soldiers standing, Geralt and Yen, one with his back to the other, and both with swords in hand. The soldiers were the same way. Unfortunately, the horses were being devoured by bizarre quadruped creatures that accompanied the hunters.
Landing on the branches of a nearby tree, I cast a *Don't Note Me* and began to study the best way to help the 4 there.
As if they owned the place, the guys from the hunt advanced in an open and pompous way, as if those 4 were already on their hands, then an idea came up, and it was time to put it into practice.
Waving my wand like a conductor in an orchestra, I started transmuting the terrain, with spears that pierced the quadruped creatures, and some that were intended to hurt the humanoids of the hunt, but broke because of their armor.
But it was still the perfect opening for Yen to use his magic and cast a powerful bolt of lightning at one of them, now that he no longer had to worry about the monsters at his back. Geralt using his signals to further delay the progress of the hunt.
In the meantime, I tried to use disappearing, to appear behind what appeared to me to be the mage of the group, but the thing didn't work, which was fortunate, because I didn't want to die on my first day in this world.
Crashing in such a situation would be my death, since none of them could put me back. But even though I knew that my presence would be noticed, I still wanted to take down the wizard.
I cast a powerful *Stupefy* towards the wizard, who, caught by surprise, received the magic in full, falling sideways, not moving any further. I jump from the tree branch, casting one or two more spells, which were deflected by the hunters.
I pick up my wand with my left hand, and pull the sword Geralt gave me from my bag. I run toward the hunters, and engage in hand-to-hand confrontation. My skill with my left hand was poor, but it still allowed me to effectively throw shields.
It was at moments like these that I give thanks for the choices I made in my reincarnation, and for the God who gave me this gift.
When he gave me the choice I turned to Pathfinder, an rpg system that I really enjoyed playing. After that I just chose what my body would look like and what racial talents I would receive.
Anyway...
It was a tough battle, and because of my lack of experience, in this kind of fighting, I almost got caught once or twice, but it was thanks to my shields that everything worked out fine.
"Thanks for the help." Geralt says, putting his hand on my shoulder.
"Thank Vesemir, he was the one who asked me to come and see if everything was okay." I reply, not wanting to get the wrong thank you.
"I will thank him soon, but thank you for coming, we were in a pretty bad situation." he reinforces.
"No need, you guys helped me, so I'm just paying you back. Any more serious injuries?" I ask, looking not only at Geralt, but at the remaining soldier and Yen, who had some cuts.
"Only minor injuries," replies the soldier, followed by the sorceress.
I point my wand at them. "sana vulnera minor" and two beams of golden light strike one each. It was visible how quickly the cuts were closing.
"That was cool." says Geralt, and notices my strange look at Yen. When his gaze falls on her, he notices that one of her beautiful breasts was showing because of a cut in her clothing.
Like a father, he quickly puts his hand in front of my eyes, and points to Yen, who by some miracle has not pierced the eyes of the soldier staring at her boob.
She clips the cloth as best she can, and I am staring at Geralt, with a raised eyebrow. "Killjoy." I turn into an owl and leave for where I left Vesemir.
