Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Quest from the chief

After waiting about 10 minutes, one of the vendors came running back with a middle-aged woman behind her, who seems to have been through battle many times and who he assumed to be the village chief, Running as fast as they could, entering the business that he was currently in and slamming the door and shutters and looking out to see a couple of players going past the end of the street. The chief clearly looking to be at her wit's end as she finally took a deep breath clearly looking a bit ragged.

"you seem to be at your wit's end, you know that you could easily beat them right." one of the other vendors in the building teased.

The chief stared daggers at them before saying in desperation," but there are hundreds of them, with more appearing every second, and after looking around lock onto me they all fight to get to the front and constantly asking me to give them quests, I end up trapped in a sea of outworlders, thank the gods that you found me an excuse for 'official village business to attend to' or I'd have been stuck there for hours."

"Well you've got that lostworlder over there to thank for that." the vendor remarked.

The chief saw that this person indeed had a green aura around them rather than a blue one, with these system auras indicating that said person wasn't from their world. Curious the chief asked, " Is it true what Emily said, that you were taken from your world and put into the world of the outworlders without any warning.

"yes, yes it is," Joe replied solemnly .

"well allow me to just say I'm sorry for what's happened to you, it must be hard suddenly being ripped from your home, and a thank you for what you have done here. Also now giving me a place of peace from those outworlders, I mean are they people or feel beasts?" the chief said with heartfelt expressions.

Joe chuckled at that response for a moment before replying," well - they are people, but adolescent and power-hungry and all wanting to get one over each other. "

After that they both stared at each other, the chief at this masked man, Joe at the chief, before Joe said, "We haven't formally introduced ourselves, I'm Id 0 ,or zero for short, I'm the creator and administrator of the creator consortium supplementary system."

"So the barrier you put on the street, you invented yourself?" the chief asked, respecting this young man as he nodded in affirmation," well, I am Zandra Mercia, the chief of this village."

Zandra not wanting to go outside just decided to have some food in the restaurant first, and had a think about what she was going to do to get rid of the nuisances that are now plaguing the village, before turning to Zero to ask if he had any ideas," Hey, do you have any idea on how to deal with the other outlanders, I always get swamped and there is nothing I can do about them."

Hearing this Joe replied, " Instead of trying to figure out how to get rid of them, you should be trying to find out how to use them."

Confused the chief asked, "Use them? They can't even be controlled, how would you expect them to behave?"

Joe replied with a smile under his mask," simple, crowd manipulation. Everyone is vying to get to you so that they can one-up those around them. So use that, don't let them dog pile you but announce so that everyone can hear that the area around the village needs clearing of monsters, that the herbalist, blacksmith, potion maker,e.c.t. need what ever they need or have asked for, then because you issued a 'quest' for it they will all go to complete it in swaths,if you want them out of your hair sooner then call for them to make groups, if there are bandits in the area, call for them to work together and form a militia to go after them, if a raid happens, or large beasts come through, call for them to fight it off, then helping to rebuild after, if you issue a quest one at a time, then knowing them they will all try to trigger a 'unique quest' as something that you only give them, but announcing what you want to happen and give a bigger reward to the person that does the best and penalties to discourage things that you don't want to happen like giving small discounts to those that do the best, and price rises on all or specific places for people that display unwanted behavior then you should be able to control them quite easily, just remember to put in penalties for fighting in group work else you will get some in fighting. Since you are the main authority that they can go to currently then that gives you major control over them."

The chief sitting there silently and listened as Joe laid out this simple yet elegant solution to her problem, and changing how she viewed the outworlders from a nuisances, to fresh meat that she gets every year that she can use as pretty much unpaid labour, "Thank you for that, I hadn't considered that before." As she got up to leave ready to use this newfound power.

"Well I might as well head out then, I've got some spells that I want to test out," Joe said getting up to leave as well.

"Well in that case, if you go a bit deep into the forest, there is a large pack of wolfs that have recently moved in and are harassing the farmers, go deal with that then," Zandra joked, " I'll give you some coin if you can at least deal with some of them for me, and something from my treasure plie if you get rid of the whole pack."

"Will do then," Joe joked back before the chief left.

Joe was slightly shocked by the amount of exp given but remembered that that is actually a reasonable amount, he set his radar so that the players were blue, the NPCs were white, beasts were red, allies were green, enemies were black, and his targets were purple. he then checked for purple dots and found that over 30 of them were moving into and out of the range of his radar so he willingly overestimate that there would be about 90 wolfs, as he would rather overestimate their numbers than underestimate them. Joe considered getting armour but what he was currently in, although was just padded clothes should be enough for now with Joe going to mostly relying on his spells for this battle. But if one does manage to get up close he does always have his attack avoidance protocol.

Leaving vendors street and its aromas behind Joe began to make his way towards a less crowded exit of the village and towards the forest, joe stayed to the side of the streets as he made his way through, the chatting of players and players calling to form groups with people, people mostly ignoring him as he stayed out of the way and was quickly walking along.

Bearing in mind that it was still only 12:50, most of the people were only level one, but there were still people taunting their superiority over others by having a grade A innate talent, like dude, it's not even that rare and anyone that has an s grade or above wouldn't just go touting it around. Joe seeing this tried to quickly speed past, but one of them had already set up in front of the village gate and harassing people trying to get through.

Joe hardened his resolve and began to walk towards the exit with full intent to pass through unhindered and with a brisk and unfaltering pace he walked down the street to the exit, the people around seeing this, who had previously been harassed by said person looked on in interest at this mysterious person making his way out. The person with the grade-A talent who had the game tag 'invincible fists' above his head saw him as he approached the exit, and shouted at him," Don't you know who I am, I have a grade A talent and no one leaves through here unless I say so."

Joe continued with his stride unbroken and after a second in a cold confidant modulated voice " Don't care," rang out, shocking the people around him that an unknown person would dare challenge an A grade talent, and shocking 'invincible fists' as to how dare someone opposes him as he has an A grade innate talent.

Faced with this unknown man that still hadn't broken stride still coming towards the exit, 'invincible fists' said, "I warned you," before running up to the mysterious man and began to swing at his face, as with his talent his fists delt 300% the damage of regular unarmed fighting, this boy knew how to fight unarmed as it was something that he practiced often, so he planned to put as much force into this punch as possible for this person that had just flagrantly ignored him.

Unfortunatly for him, Joe always kept his mask of the many on and did not plan to break his stride, and the last thing that didn't happen was his attack avoidance protocol as the punch to the face was deemed not an attack, due to two things, with one being the mask of the many being a psuedo object, when turned tangible for things that aren't support to get in has infinite durability, as it's not actually there, and the other that the mask only moves in accordance with the face and not the other away around, leading to the moment that when the punch landed on the mask, it was not the mask that gave way but the fist as Joe's stride remained completely unbroken all the way through, with the audible sound of bones shatering being heard for at least 10 meters, with the loudest screech of pain that the people around had ever heard caused everyone to turn and see the aftermath of what had just happened, with a man walking away at a brisk pace completely unfased by what had just happened who did not give any indication that they even lifted a finger, as the person with gametag 'invincable fists' standing there before falling to the ground screaming in pain with a right arm that looks like gelly and starting to turn purple from swelling, with the damage number of [ - 68] over his head, as the man who caused it staying true to what they bearly heard him say before and not careing in the slightest as he continued to walk into the area outside the village.

The people that thought that it was a good idea to record the event when they first sensed tension, couldn't belive their eyes as they saw that moment replay again and again as that person just got his arm obliterated with the other guy walking the exact same speed throughout the entire thing, as if he was't just punched in the face at all. The 10 or so people that filmed it from all different angles posted it on the forums with titles like 'man takes punch to the face like it was nothing' and 'mistery person strikes again getting punched in the face destroying guys arm', with the fact that most of the world was keeping an eye on this starter village, these posts blew up immediately with over 700,000,000 views within the first minute of being released, and with all the different angles people immediately started to analise the video, and were shocked at what the video actually showed, leading to all the guilds and government agencies with people there to prioritise getting into contact with this individual as fast as possible, as they all started theorising that this person might have an s or ss grade innate talent, maybe even as sss grade one. However with a limiting factor being that those that didn't already have people in that starter village had to spend time to get there. With those already in the village opting to wait as that guy was clearly going somewhere and seeing what happened to the other guy, they were not going to risk getting in his way, having some but little pity for the child that they could hear screaming in pain from the other side the village. Cleveland chucking to himself while watching the video and the chaos and therioes going about,'if only they knew' he thought to himself looking in the direction of the nature conserve they previously talked in.

Now that Joe was out of the village he began to make his way toward the forest, still empty handed as he has yet to have reason to need to have a weapon out. As he approached the forest boundy, he could see a multitude of people trying to fight giant rats that were coming at them, he saw damage numbers apering above their heads,

Joe could see that these people were just waving their rusty swords, daggers and sticks about as they were trying to do damage and casting standard staff attacks, half cringing at seeing them mis obvious openings to hit some of their toughest spots and literally just waving their swords about, some were better and at least seemed competent at wielding their weapon, but still seemed like they lacked experience in actual combat. With some being overwhelmed and turning into light particles before dissapering.

Ignoring them however, Joe stroled into the forest, now deciding that it would be a good time to draw his weapon due to entering a forest with beasts in, although Joe did not currently posses an actual weapon, that did not matter as that is what the weapon summoning array is for, to temporarily transform mana into a physical object.

"verbal command: summon two-handed longsword," and as soon as Joe said that the familiar fire/wave-like pattern emanated, beginning from his hand with the waves of blues getting lighter in colour, travelling the length of what the sword would be, revealing a two-handed longsword where before there was none, Joe was not done however as it was now time for enchantments, as why not right? I mean he spent the 20 or so minutes that he wasn't doing anything earlier making them.

"Verbal command: enchant object; sharpness; lightness" with a brief transfer of mana as the enchantment happened, with the mending and unbreaking being automatically applied as well as a mana store generated when any enchantment is done. So now that Joe was all done up, for now at least he continued his journey into the forest, keeping an eye on his radar so that nothing could surprise him.
