Chapter 144 - Chapter 144: It's His Destiny

"I can't imagine that I would agree to such a ridiculous plan from Eric, damn it, I must have been hypnotized!"

Tony Stark was holding a cup of coffee in his left hand, his right hand kept on tapping on the keyboard, countless codes flashed like water on the computer screen in front of him, so fast that the average person couldn't even see them, while he was coding down without stopping.

Next to him sat a very focused Skye, her hands leaping across the keyboard like a pair of dancing butterflies, her speed no faster or slower than Tony's.

When she heard Tony's complaint, the corners of Skye's mouth turned up and her eyes narrowed into crescents, like a bear who had secretly done something bad, and she hurriedly looked away, afraid that Tony would see the flaw.

Around her neck she wore a necklace of flawless pink pearls that Namor had paid to save her life. At the bottom of the necklace hung a sapphire ring, carefully hidden in her collar, which was now glittering.

"What's wrong Skye? Not feeling well?" Toni asked when she saw Skye look away.

"Nothing, my eyes are a bit dry from looking at the screen for too long." Skye hurriedly forced herself to regain her composure and continued to attack the code on her computer.

"That's right, my eyes are hurting too, damn it, this was supposed to be a job for Jarvis or Future!" Tony put his coffee cup down and rubbed his eyes, but his other hand never left the keyboard.

"Uncle Stark, it's your father's fault, not only did he modify Jarvis' main control program, but he also installed a Trojan horse on Future, forcing us to force them both offline, the kind of hard work that would end up falling on both of us!" Skye couldn't stop her hands and couldn't help but complain under her breath.

Hearing Skye talk about his father, Tony's mind was torn, he already knew all about what his own old man had gotten himself into, through the battle armour connection, this whole thing was a mess and he didn't know what to do with it, it was better to see what Eric's plan was.

"Skye, how did you guys know my old man would control space based weapons?"

"I detected a Trojan horse he planted in the S.H.I.E.L.D. and military space-based weapons control systems!" Skye was bursting with pride at the mention of it, it was the first thing she had found, even Eric had only noticed it after she had alerted him!

"What? You're monitoring S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Tony was stunned, the biggest secret service organisation in the world was being monitored by a fifteen year old girl, could there be anything more bullshit than that? "Skye, any interest in coming to work for Stark Industries?"

Skye narrowed her eyes, "Sure, give me 10% of Stark Industries every year and I'll go."

Stark: "You're joking with me?"

Skye: "You were the one joking with me first!"

Stark: "..."

...

"Nothing is impossible Mr. Stark, Tony has regained control of the space based weapons, your plan fell through." Erik smiled and flicked a little at Howard, the battle armour on Howard instantly fell apart and it wasn't just the armour, all the metal items on him flew away, without his technological equipment, Howard was just a strong human.

"No! You were clearly fighting the Star Child!" Howard, still finding it hard to believe, floundered for a long moment before realisation dawned on him, pointing at Erik, his fingers trembling, "You! You! That's ..."

"That's right, it's exactly what you think it is!" Eric smiled a thief's smile, "But there's no rush, he'll hold out for a while, let's get your time machine taken care of first."

With that, Eric's fingers moved slightly and the shattered battle armour wrapped around Howard once more, only this time, he could no longer control it.

"I can't quite see it, but I can roughly guess that this barrier seems to involve the obliteration of positive and negative matter? How dare you!"

Having guessed, what next? Break it? No, just destroy it! He didn't want the time machine inside anyway, whether it was a machine or a barrier, just violently crush it and smash it all!

As Eric slowly rose into the air, a huge amount of matter floated up around him, whether it was metal or non-metal, magnetic or non-magnetic, all slowly rose into the air and spun around him quickly.

As Eric opened his hands, the matter spun around him faster and faster, like a shredder, and the matter became smaller and smaller in size, eventually turning into tiny particles.

But this was not enough! These tiny particles, which continued to get smaller and smaller, had their molecular structure destroyed and turned into the most basic of atoms. Immediately afterwards, even the atomic structure could not be maintained.

Atoms are breaking up, atoms with atomic masses greater than iron begin to fission, atoms smaller than iron begin to fuse, huge amounts of energy are released from the atoms, and all kinds of radiation fly around.

A hand caresses, and the tyrannical energy and radiation turn into docile cats, prostrate at Eric's feet as if a soldier has met a general, a subject has met a king.

With a slight tap of his forefinger, the docile energy stirred again, like a death-defying daredevil, and crashed headlong into the time machine.

Immediately afterwards, there was an explosion. Eric concentrated on the four basic forces, compressing all the energy that would be enough to catch the explosion of dozens of Grand Evans into a ten-metre square.

Flames? The sound of explosions? The smoke? No, they were no longer there!

There was only a white light, a white light that seems to shone brighter than the sun.

It lasted for nearly ten minutes before the white light began to dim, as Erik controlled the radiation inside to disintegrate and dissipate so quickly that, in the end, nothing was left.

This was the power of the combination of the four basic forces, which Eric called, the Annihilation Field.

"Well, Mr. Stark, it's time we had a little chat about your problem." Eric floated down, controlled Howard to his feet and punched an electromagnetic pulse into his brow, freeing him from the after effects of the potion for the time being.

My .... mind was clear, Howard knew exactly what he had done and knew equally well that he had been affected by the potion, and he couldn't say how he felt at the moment, remorse? shame? Anger? Bitterness? In the end, all emotions were reduced to powerlessness.

"I'm so sorry ..."

Eric shook his head, "You can't be blamed for all of this."

"No!" Howard snapped his head up and smiled bitterly, "It's my fault, the time machine is still running, the one you just blew up was just a decoy I placed, the real time machine, it's not here!"

Eric stared and sighed, stepping forward and patting him on the shoulder, "I know."

"What?" Howard looked incredulous, "You knew? Then go and get rid of it! It's right at ..."

"I don't need to know where it is, someone else will take care of it." Eric waved his hand, "It's his destiny!"
