Chapter 145 - Chapter 145: The Unseen

Destiny, is there such a thing in this world?.

Previously, The Man on the Wall did not know.

He only knew that his only mission was to guard the Earth, to guard humanity, and for that purpose he could sacrifice everything, including his life, including his humanity, including his soul.

This may be my destiny, he used to think so, until that day.

"The energy contained in the Watcher's eye is so vast that if it explodes, the Earth won't be able to stop it."

"What should I do?"

"He has another eye."

"I see."

To save his world, the Man on the Wall chose to trust Erik.

Then he shot the Watcher and brought his other eye here, to Venus.

Yes, for the plan to work, Howard placed the time machine on Venus, while he himself stayed on Earth with a fake machine as a decoy.

It was hot all day long, and the rocks were baked red. Following the memory in the eye, The Man on the Wall came straight to the time machine, the eye set in it, seemingly glowing at his arrival.

It was a machine designed by the Builders, with Howard's own improvements, the Man on the Wall knew well enough that the machine, once started, could not be stopped. If violently destroyed, the only way it would end would be to explode, or even cause a violent movement of the sun, which would be equally devastating to the planet.

"Perhaps, this is my destiny!" The Man on the Wall removed his eyepatch and gouged out his damaged eye raw, blood gushing out of its socket and staining most of his cheeks red.

Yet, he looked as normal, not even blinking with his other eye.

Then he opened a box in which lay the Watcher's other eye, which was the size of a football, but, when he picked it up, it was stained with his blood and surprisingly began to shrink rapidly to the size of a normal human eye.

As if he had known this would happen, he eased the eye into its own socket and then reached out and pressed it against the time machine.

The two massive energies, using his body as a medium to connect together, the eye on the time machine also began to shrink and stopped providing energy to the time machine.

The imbalance of energy made the time machine unstable and the parts rattled.

The Man on the Wall paid no heed to this, the eye of the Watcher releasing a similar amount of energy, weaving in and out of him, encircling and destroying everything inside him, a large amount of blood flowing from his mouth and nose, even beads of blood oozing from his skin.

"Boom!" The time machine finally couldn't take it anymore, and the severely unbalanced energy eventually caused it to explode, an explosion so powerful that it instantly overwhelmed the Man on the Wall, forming a huge mushroom cloud on the surface of Venus.

When it was all over, all that was left on the ground was a large crater several kilometres in size.

Suddenly, a hand reached out from the bottom of the crater, followed by an arm and a body.

A very tattered looking body just crawled out of the rubble, draped in tattered black robes, thin and bony and unusually old, but his with eyes still visible.

He had inherited the eye of the Watcher, the energy of the Watcher, the knowledge of the Watcher, and, likewise, the duty and oath of the Watcher.

He, no longer the The Man on the Wall, no longer Nick Fury.

He, will be the new Watcher.

....

"Fury .... hey ...." Knowing everything, Howard let out a long sigh.

"No need to worry about him, it's for the best, Earth wasn't destroyed and Fury didn't perish from it, he even gained great power, as long as there are no accidents like today, maybe he'll live until the day the universe falls silent," Eric patted him on the shoulder with a complicated look, "Besides, with an Earthling as Watcher, the future is in our favour."

Having one Watcher with his heart set on Earth worked better than ten more Watchers

The only thing that gave Eric a twinge of guilt was the original Watcher, someone who had at least helped him out.

"I understand, and going forward, I will guard the Watcher on the moon from similar accidents." Howard made a solemn promise, for atonement, for salvation, and for friendship.

After the Watcher, a new Man on the Wall, was born.

...

With Howard's base destroyed, the overwhelming mechanical spiders seemed to lose their lives instantly and all came to a halt, and the three, who had long been exhausted, collapsed to the ground.

Barton was the most exhausted one, the other two, one half-vampire and one with heart-shaped herb enhancement, were both several times stronger than him physically, and even Blade and Tchakka were in awe that he, an ordinary man, had lasted this long.

The only ones still fighting were Juggernaut and Hulk. The two monsters were tireless and evenly matched, fighting from the east to the west of the battlefield and from the north to the south, the battle area spanning the entire battlefield, more mechanical spiders were affected by their battle ripples than by the three of them combined.

When Eric came across the space, he happened to catch Hulk being thrown over by the Juggernaut, and looking at the momentum, it seemed like it was specifically towards himself.

Eric was a bit speechless, as he stepped out of the portal, Hulk was less than ten metres away from him and his face was facing him, and from Hulk's growling mouth, Eric could even see the small tonsil in Hulk's throat.

Eric hastily reached out and gravity kicked in, holding Hulk in the air, followed immediately by an EMP that restored Hulk's composure.

Bruce Banner exited his Hulk state and instantly collapsed to the ground, the first time he had ever experienced such a prolonged transformation battle, and he almost collapsed from exhaustion.

Dropping Banner, Erik then saw the Juggernaut running wildly.

It was much easier to deal with him now, as it had been with Hulk. The powerful gravitational field held the Juggernaut in the air, and he couldn't get down, he was so angry that he could only scream, and nothing else could be done.

Leave him alone to clear his head!

After checking the condition of the men, they were all fine, no major trauma, just a bit of deconditioning and a couple of days rest.

They were unaware of Eric's plan and thought he had already solved the Star Child, so they showed him the way and told him where the big boss was.

Without explaining, Eric nodded and opened the portal and stepped inside again, this time coming out to see the Star Child beating up "Eric".

"Oh, man, you're finally here! I'd have been finished if you hadn't come!" With that, Eric, who was fighting the Star Child, turned into a green-skinned alien with six rings on his hands.

"Thanks a lot, Talos, I'll take care of the rest!"
