Chapter 55 - The Blue-Haired Girl

The day continued on as I sat at my deck in Tera's room. I had to run past some students who kept asking me the same things those other students did before. Tera said to not mind it as she felt this would all pass in a month, though to be quite honest with the amount of people outside of our class…I doubt it.

"…I feel like we're being watched…" I heard sura murmur. She was at her desk, reading about magic circles. On a daily basis, Sura reads about four books in this class. Tera even quizzes her on them and somehow…she gets all the answers right. When I came into class today, she didn't really bother greeting me as she was too focused on her book.

"Don't make it too obvious, I mean we do have a star in our class now." Tera casually said, she was at her desk looking at assignments from the school. "Perhaps Griffin could do something about it?"

"Me? Like what?" Griffin asked. He sat next to me as he looked over my Intermediate water class book. Besides the teacher in that class, Griffin was actually much more proficient than me. So I've been having him give me extra studying before those classes.

"Annoying them…" Syra chirped in, she kept on looking at her book as Griffin gave her a mean look. "Plus, you didn't even finish your assignment in this class. You could call this punishment for not doing it."

"I didn't even know there was one for this class!" Griffin rattled his desk as he said that. "What was it?"

"Griffin, I told you yesterday." Tera looked up from her desk. "Don't come into this class with any sort of issues. That's it."

"That is not an assignment! That is general common sense!" Griffin stood up from his desk. "Wait. if we all got the same assignment, wouldn't we all have failed it then?"

"Nope, weren't you the one who was supposed to be watching Kota and Sura on your little trip to the market district?"

Griffin thought for a moment, trying to recollect what happened yesterday before sitting back down in his seat. "I…I don't recall that?"

"Come on, the man of the group has to watch his party, right? I think what we are hearing outside our class is a product of what happened yesterday." Tera eyed the door that had some students looking inside. She then looked at griffin. "It really is causing a ruckus, I hope the principal doesn't have a chat with you three."

Griffin then stood back up, his face reddening. "Woah, hey-principal? Oh! Pfft, alright let me handle these students!" He frantically said. His frantic movement made me sure that he was terrified or at least nervous around the principal.

Sura looked up from her book to watch as Griffin moved to the door. At first, Griffin hesitated for a moment. Then he swung the door open and spoke.

"Hello? What are you g-." He was cut short by the stampede of people who flooded in. Maybe ten students came flooding in before he quickly closed the door before anyone else came in.

"Kota? Are you that Kota that beat up the Desmond boys?" One started asking, and then everyone started flooding me with questions.

Look, I beat like three kids! Why is this such a deal? I kept staring forward as they continued to bombard me with questions and surrounding me.

"Hey, uh…you guys! That's a little close for you guys!" Griffin tried to intervene, but he didn't know what to do.

Tera watched in annoyance at the sudden increase of students in her class. She eyed me as the students talking grew louder and more rowdy. Sura looked even more annoyed by this, shoving the book she had closer to her face.

"Hey!" A female voice spoke the loudest out of everyone, it made me look up and see who it was. It was the Girl I sat next to in Crota's class. "Kota, right? Just going to sit there and ignore us?"

Why was she here? Wait, did she follow this group inside to see me? I looked at the other students to see if I could recognize them from Crota's class, but I couldn't. I guess she really just came here on her own. Well she was giving me looks during that class, so I wouldn't be surprised she was also curious.

"Uh…yeah, I am." I answered back at her. It seemed everyone else had gotten quiet when I answered, but this girl stood with her arms folded now. Her blue hair kinda reminded me of ocean waves for some reason, her hair flowing all the way down past her chest. Comparing her hair to Lilith made me pretty sure that Lilith doesn't really know how to clean her hair…maybe Tera should teach her. Her ends were white and her eyes seemed like they were piercing my soul with their deep blue color.

I don't know why she looked so angry when looking at me. But she quickly grabbed my collar and pulled me closer to her.

"Ok, Kota. I'm Amelia. And I was supposed to beat the hell out of those boys!" She yelled as she shook me. Her shaking was very violent, it made me shake around the desk I was at.

"W-w-w-what?! Settle d-down!" I said, trying to pry her hands off me. "What do you mean?"

"I've been waiting for a day to get back at them! Ever since I was young, those damn boys have been harassing me and everyone in this school!" She said while continuing to shake me. "I didn't get all the way to intermediate Wind and Fire to have a six year old managing to humiliate them!" She let me go after finishing that sentence, but she drew out her staff. Her staff was golden and had a blue crystal at the top, engravings were scattered along the staff's body.

Also, what the hell was wrong with this girl? She was so quiet when we were in Crota's class, and here she is about to break my damn neck!

"I challenge you to a duel." she said as she pointed her staff at me.

"Nope." I quickly said.

Amelia gave me a confused look. "Why not? We all heard about what you did to the Desmond boys. I want to make sure that was true, a kid like you couldn't beat them."

"I prefer you students to get out of my class before all hell breaks loose. You wouldn't want to see that. Especially From me." It seemed that tera had gotten behind Amelia, she slightly leaned close to Amelia's right side. "Classes are being told and you all decided to barge in, and that tremendously pisses me off." Tera coldy said, her face was serious as she stared at all the students. And very quickly, most of the students left the room in a hurry, Griffin standing at the door to make sure they all left. Which only left Amelia.

I could see Amelia panicking for a moment before quickly moving away from tera. "Ah! Erm…You better not forget about me, Kota! I'll find you after class and beat you!" She quickly left the room, eyeing Tera as she did.

Well what a turn of events, did I just get a rival or something? The room fell into silence as we all looked at each other in confusion. After a few moments, Griffin spoke up.

"Weelll…I tried." Griffin shrugged. "What's a water mage going to do against like ten students?"

"Would Have thrown water at them." Sura said, closing her book. "Ms.Tera, since Kota is the main source of this…troublesome event, what do we do?"

Tera scratched her chin for a moment. Then she spoke. "I'll deal with it, we shouldn't even have students up and about during class time. During lunch I'll speak with the principal about this. As for Kota…You should take that girl's challenge."

"Huh?" I was flabbergasted. "Why would I? Wouldn't that just make things worse?"

"How so? I'm sure everyone in school is just curious about your skills. The girl looked quite serious when asking it, so you'd probably kill two birds with one stone right there. And besides, You haven't practiced that much with anyone in the school." Tera looked at Griffin for a moment. "Besides him, but he's just…beginner level if you know what I mean."

"Hey!" Griffin shouted. "I'll let you know I've beaten Kota twice! Out of the forty sessions we've had!"

"Anyways…take that girl's challenge, and keep it outside of any classrooms. Otherwise that will cause more problems." Tera turned to me. "Class is almost over, Perhaps you can duel in the forest. And bring along these two."

"Why are we going?" Sura asked. The pink haired girl was already packing up her items for her next class. "I need time after school to read."

"Read when you are with these two. Besides, you should be having an adventure with your classmates!…just not one that involves you getting touched and whatnot." Tera spun her finger around as she said that. She then turned to Griffin, who was already next to her. "Eh…what are you doing?" She took a Step back.

"Already on it! I'll meet Kota outside his last class and escort him to that Amelia girl!" He obediently said. "As a loyal friend to these two and the fact you are my teacher, I'll make sure these two do what you asked them to do!" He smiled as he said that, which tera gave him an awkward smile back.

Then the school bell jingled, signaling that lunch was ready. Sura groaned as she finally got out of her seat. "I'm heading to our normal seats…" she mumbled, as she opened the door. "What should I read on th- whaaaat are you doing sitting next to the door?!" I noticed sura moving aside as a specific blue haired girl stormed in with her bag.

"Oh! Change of plan!" Tera smiled, then grabbed me and pulled me out of my seat. "Go ahead and accept the challenge right now!"

"W-what?!" I asked. Why the hell is this happening?

"Kota!" Amelia shouted. "I want to fight you."

"Oh, he accepts! But don't let his scrawny looks get to you!" Tera said. "He's quite feisty in battles…" She then leaned close to me. "Don't do too much to her."

"I don't plan on doing that!" I shouted at her.

Ok…I don't recall Arael saying anything about a Blue haired girl somehow coming into my life. Not complaining since she does look quite nice, but still. I'm not sure what I am expecting from this. Oh, what if she starts liking me? No. No, we cannot have that happen, or Lilith would possibly kill me in my sleep…unless…

"Hey!" A shout rattled me out of my thought it was Amelia, who had an annoyed look on her face. "Were you even listening?"

"Uh…"I uttered out. I indeed did not listen.

"Hmph!" She angrily made that sound. " I said, come with me to the first floor where we did our exams! And don't go easy on me!" She jabbed a finger at me. "Don't think I'll go lightly on you!"

"I don't understand why you're so angry! All I did was beat up some kids!" I exclaimed, and that seemed to just make her more angry. Although her cheeks flared up in red from what seemed to be embarrassment.

"Grr, I already told you! Don't make me repeat things I've said already! I'm going! And you better be behind me when I walk out that door!" Amelia then stormed off, pushing past Sura and heading towards downstairs.

I stood baffled at this girl's erratic behavior. Unsure of what to think of. She wanted to humiliate the Desmond boys, well they got humiliated. Why's she so pissed off at me?

"Mmm….Feisty. Like sura!" Griffin made his observation, which only cause Sura to angrily yell at him.

"What'd you say? There's no way I'm as feisty as her! I have my limits!" She yelled.

"You kick my legs multiple times for no reason! Sometimes you angrily lecture me when we go out!" Griffin retorted.

"Go out! Ugh, don't make me think of going out with you…" sura made a motion that looked like she was faking a puke.

"Enough!" Tera snapped her fingers. "You two need to figure out dating! Kota, lead these two with you. I'll need to work on some assignments from the principal, so I need alone time." She quickly shooed all of us out of her room, where she was now standing at the door. "Be mindful of what you do, it's a duel. Not a deathmatch."

"I didn't even want to do it!" I said.

"Uh, life is full of surprises you can't escape." And she quickly shut the door on us, I could hear the door being quickly locked.

The three of us stood in front of the door in confusion, unsure of what to do next. Sura tapped her lips with her ink pen, thinking.

"Perhaps Ms.Tera is right, you should go to the duel." She muttered through the ink pen. "Either that or we have to endure everyone's attention for…well I'm not sure."

"Yeah…kinda don't like being looked at, even if I'm not the person they are looking at." Griffin chimed in. "Also, Figuring out dating? Looks like Ms.Tera is finally noticing you-Ow!" Sura slammed a book onto His head before he could finish.

"Shut up." I heard sura say.

Ok, besides their…conversation. Maybe sura is right, I'm not really sure how else we'd stop this crowd from following us out of curiosity other than showing them. But then again, it might even attract a bigger audience if I do show them…damn, the unpredictability of this situation.

Shit, I'll take the risk. If there's a big enough audience in the exam room, I'll most likely be able to show most of everyone my abilities….seems logical, right? Anyways, if I get this over with quicker, the faster we can get this group of people off of us.

"Let's head to the exam room, I guess." I promptly said. "Guess I'll be skipping lunch…"

"Then I guess we will too!" Griffin grabbed me and Sura. "Right, sura? This could be a good thing since you can research more about Kota!"

Sura groaned at that, but didn't object. It feels like she's gotten more used to Griffin's antics and just decided to roll with some of them if they benefited her.

We headed our way downstairs, where Gorwin sat at his desk. He was reading some letters before he noticed us.

"Hello, kids. I suppose you are here for whatever's going on behind me?" The elf pointed behind himself, where a group was huddled at the entrance of a door.

"Uh…actually I'm sure they are waiting for us…" I awkwardly said. Gorwin gave me a confused look before sighing.

"Sigh…what'd you do now, kota?"

"I did absolutely nothing. It's just that this blue haired girl wanted to duel me for some reason."

Gorwin paused for a moment, he scratched his brown hair before answering. "Oh…Amelia. I see."

"Do you know anything about her?" I curiously asked.

"Amelia Mallor. Nine years old…Hm…" he shuffled through some cabinets in his desk before plopping out a folder, looking into it. "From what I remember from her exam and records, she excelled in wind magic. taking intermediate in her first year, which she started a year ago before you came in. Quite feisty, if I say so. She seemed to have problems with the students here, always aggressive and rowdy with students. She's also taking beginners healing as well, it was also one of her strong points as she couldn't do Fire or ice spells."

Griffin chimed in. "Why's that?" Gorwin took a look at him as he asked.

"Mr.Belark, curious aren't you?"

"Well uh…I would've assumed she knew ice and water spells since…blue hair…blue…water. Get it?" Griffin awkwardly looked at all of us to see if we got the connection he was getting at. None of us said anything.

"Erm…well if you are keen to learn more about her. How about asking her yourself?" Gorwin looked at us all. "She may indeed need some friends for her time here."

"But…she challenged Kota to a duel…"

"Hmm…Kota, do you believe she is doing it with malicious intent?" Gorwin asked me. I tilted my head at that thought.

Amelia seemed quite pissed at me, but she didn't seem…too hostile besides choking me. I don't know, I'm not really into psychoanalysis. But if I had to guess, she's just only pissed because I managed to do something she couldn't do. I'd probably be upset if a nine year old somehow beaten up three of your most hated bullies. Maybe I should chat with her…

"I don't think so, I'll see if I can talk with her and see how we'd go at this without…fighting." I answered finally. Gorwin took an assessment of me and then nodded, seemingly approving my decision.

I felt someone grab me, along with someone else yelping. Griffin grabbed me and Sura, taking us to the exam room. "Alright! We are taking the pacifist route! Though, it'd be cooler to see you fight, I won't object!"

"You're so weird." Sura said annoyingly.

"Cmon, I bet you wanted to see Kota fight! Just like yesterday when you said you didn't want to!"

"Shut up!"

The crowd of people noticed us, looking confused at first but slowly realizing who I was as they let the three of us pass through the doors. The room didn't look different from any other days. There was still a magic circle in the middle of the room. The white marbled floor still looked squeaky clean and the wooden walls were high up, where the ceiling held a chandelier. I don't recall seeing a chandelier, so The chandelier was probably brought in not only a few months ago. The windows were large and light shined in, it just made the room look brighter.

And in the middle of the magic circle, was Amelia. She took off her school uniform and put on a more adventurer looking clothing. It was a green adventurer outfit, a large mage hat with a skirt that flowed in the air. Ah, you know Lilith would look good in thi-

Wait! Focus! Don't let the dress distract you! I shook my head as I proceeded into the room. Griffin and sura on my tail before Amelia pointed the two out.

"You two stay outside the circle!" She barked. And Griffin immediately stopped dead on his path, sura bumping right into him.

"I only want to fight this wannabe Mage!" She said as I stepped into the magic circle. Sheez, the tone this girl has.

"Look, uh…I don't want to fight. I'm only here to figure out what's up with you. That's it." I promptly said. Amelia squinted her eyes at me. "Yes, I beat those Desmond boys. And that's it!"

"How?"

"W-what do you mean? Magic, like…Spells…" I slowly said. I don't think she understands what I'm saying.

"What kind! A kid like you can't be doing Intermediate magic! From the way you look and hold that staff of yours, you look like a beginner who started today!" She barked at me. I slouched a little bit as she said that, almost giving her a dumbfounded look. "It should've been me that beat them!"

"Why are you upset that I beat them? And why do you want to beat me?" I asked confusingly.

"Gah, you took everything from me!" Amelia started stomping on the ground with her feet, Cutely. "I already said it! I was supposed to! Those wretched boys always bullied me and I wanted to get my revenge! And you took it from me! You small headed wannabe weirdo!"

Oh, we are really doing this Huh? Cracking jokes? Alright, I thought I was on the path of a pacifist. But considering I've killed someone, I'm pretty likely sure that I will again. I might just need to bury that idea. Also, talking to a wall. Both figuratively and physically.

"Wall." I said, pointing at her. I heard Griffin laugh behind me as I said that before I heard him grunting in pain. Sura probably slapped him.

"What?" Amelia looked confused at first before looking at herself. "Huh?! Are you looking at me in a perverted way?!" She looked back up at me. With red cheeks.

"I'm making observations, no need to keep looking at a wall anymore. I've seen enough." I straightened my posture out of my slouching and held my staff out. "And I've considered maybe showing you what I can do…"

Amelia chuckled, twirling around before aiming her staff at me. "Haha…So you wanna go then, huh?"

"If it means you are not annoying me and having everyone not come up to me in school. Yeah." I looked around to see if any students came in. And surely enough, we made quite a large audience. Maybe like twenty students showed up to watch us fight.

I really hope this does something…
