Voyager's path has a somewhat basic magic system. All of this will be updated to be more in-Line with what is now being told during the Prusha arc.
In Voyager's path. Mana is essentially everywhere, it is part of the ecosystem of the world. Plants hold some amount of mana. everything holds a certain amount of mana.
Magic is the term of which the user uses the Mana within them to conjure an effect with the mana. A person within this world is able to hold a certain amount of mana within them, depending on which family they come from, how much they train with magic and how efficient they are with it. One could essentially run out of mana if they reach the end of their capacity multiple times, however this is a rare occurrence. Quite possibly the case is a mana blockage happens where the body suddenly blocks mana from coming in. There are even some cases where an individual will have a substantial amount of mana within them, This is called the Duvul Trait, Due to the Magic God, Duvul's death, His spirit was transferred and separated into multiple forms to find a suitable Host to be his successor.
When it comes to the level of magic that is being used. It is usually referred to as the "class system". using noble ranks as a reference. Make it aware that just because you can achieve magic of a specific level, does not mean the magic user is weak. All is dependent on the user's efficiency and usage of the skill that can earn them the title of whatever rank.
Beginner- Basic spells; Fire, Ice, wind, water, Healing (This includes any form of detoxification or curing diseases), earth
Intermediate- Intermediate spells; JetFire (upgraded Fire, a stream on fire that tends to burn most things in seconds), Arctic Freeze (Conjure a ice floor that would then freeze from below), Windstorm (More aggressive version of wind) etc, etc. Once we get into the middle class for magic, It opens up a variety of magic combinations.
King- Advanced spells; here we start to see more Dangerous or very potent magic. One must be highly trained or have enough magic to even act these spells out. spells ranging from Poison and nullification. Spells that could affect a person's body or mind are considered high due to their capabilities.
Emperor- The highest and most difficult spells. These spells usually build upon the advanced spells (King), only with further output and efficiency. However this also applies to spells that are either forbidden to be taught at school or spells that could quite literally shake kingdoms if necessary. Large amount of magic is needed for these to be done properly.
Besides The class system, There are three ways of using magic.
1- Incantation spells. The most basic form of magic. These are for those who cannot silently do these spells, There aren't many magic users who are able to silently do magic. Those who do need an incantation spell will need to remember the spell's verse to be able to do the spell. some are able to halve the incantation as well to cut time by singling out specific phrases of the chant, making it shorter.
2. Incantation Less spells- Those who are able to familiarize with the spells are able to conjure the spell without necessarily speaking the incantation. They would need to familiarize the feeling and pastimes of doing the spell to just do it silently. This is a more advanced form of magic due to its multiple versatility. However, Not all spells can be done incantation less, Some people would find issues in doing other spells while finding ease in others. One who does incantation less magic must calculate the Magic's range and speed and power on their own.
3. Spell circles- These are spells that are set in a designated spot on the field, mostly in the building of kingdoms or royal palaces. Spells would need to have its verse and a pattern done in a specific ink that would activate it. Though used less now due to incantation spells, these Circles are still often used for complex spells or for when the spell is less efficient for the user.
One other form of magic that is also used by both Magic users and Swordsman is Magic Cloak. Seemingly wrapping oneself in mana to enhance themselves To a degree. Though limited to the person's mana, it could essentially increase one's speed or strength depending on what the user needs.
The most common usage of this magic cloak comes in two forms. Offensive and defensive cloaking. Offensive offers more strength for the user, this preferably used by swordsman. Those who reach intermediate or King rank are able to use this more frequently as their bodies are more built up to handle it. Defensive Cloaking offers better defenses to either magic or Physical attacks, though Defensive cloaking only works better when that persons mana is more concentrated. One who has less mana and focus could easily be cut down by anyone.
--------------------------------Sword system------------------------------
Sword class works like the magic class, Both use the noble ranks as reference to the user's ability. There are four different ways to use the sword in this world. For each of these styles, there is normally a "Emperor" in their ranks. Those who have this rank are the ones who've fully mastered that style.
There is no preference in swords when it comes to these Styles, though one might find a type of sword more useful in one Style than another. There are no requirements for what sword must be used with whatever Sword style. The preference comes down to the user.
It's also not common for a mage to learn sword styles, but those who do tend to incorporate it into their magic usage. There is no known style or even a name for those who manage to achieve this.
Hand-to-hand: While not common, some users will use it when necessary. And this applies to all styles. There are no formal lessons or training when it comes to hand to hand. It is not a part of any rankings as well.
Fire King Style- This sword class is more aggressive and straight forward. It mostly has to do with overwhelming an opponent before they get the chance to strike. It uses Speed and aggression to turn most tides. As much of a powerhouse this style is, it lacks in its defense area, there are many users of this style who tend to leave themselves open. This style does tremendous against users of the Wind King due to being able to quickly overwhelm them before they can even adapt. This style does not do well against Water King style as most of their attacks will most likely be redirected and they'll seemingly be trapped by the Water king user. They also run into a stalemate with Earth King users.
Wind King Style- This class is more about versatility and adaptability on the field than any of the other classes. Its focus on using the environment and unpredictability to their advantage. This style is most common with adventurers due to the versatility that comes with it. It's use of the art of surprise leaves many who go against it on edge as they figure out who they'll do next. Oddly enough, Water King style is able to maintain a stalemate with this style. Since Water King controls movement and countering. A water King user can counter by having the Wind King user fall into a pattern of attacks, only for the Wind King user to seemingly adapt and find ways to get out of the pattern.
Earth King Style- This sword class is more about the defensive and countering with Non-lethals. Those who are well trained in this style are able to counter Fire king style relatively well. However, Due Wind king's use of the field, It makes them unpredictable and thus is able to counter this style. Also, rather than having the focus of killing like other styles, This style focuses on stunning and doing Non-lethal attacks. Which makes this the least used Style for most swordsmen due to its lack of power and it's focus on defense. It's somewhat common though for those who trained in another style would have this as a backup or a soldier in the kingdom who wants to apprehend someone. This Style comes to a stalemate with Fire King style.
Water king style- This sword class is focused on countering and manipulating the opponents moves. Allowing them to fully control the battle if necessary. They are efficient against the fire king style due to being able to redirect and counter each move they do, but won't do any good against the earth king style as that class is all about defensive moves. Just like Earth King Though, this Style lacks attack power. Or to be more precise, It's more focused on its precise attacks and where they'll attack. Having their opponents fall right into the positions they want them. This Style oddly comes to a stalemate with Wind King style.
In terms of advantage and disadvantage, Each class will always have an advantage against another and a disadvantage to another. But There will also be another style that will be on equal levels that makes the battle end in a stalemate.
Those who have actually learned more than one style of swordsmanship tend to be more versatile in battle, giving them a better chance in winning. An example would be Gerald Detrut or his Fire King style mentor, Kale. Both of them are able to use Fire King style, while having the other Styles in their arsenal. This makes them more deadly in battle, as when it truly comes down to battles. It is the Person's own ability and knowledge that gives them an advantage.
Ranking in sword styles is similar to the magic class.
Beginner
Intermediate
Advanced
King
"Emperor"
All of these ranks are dependent on how well you are suited to the style and how efficiently you use it. These ranks are given from those above you.
