|Marius - Farmer of Lys|
It got worse. All of our grain gets taken away by the unsullied, and the magisters coming with the unsullied only leave a small amount of money. We cannot survive if this keeps going. We have already cut our food almost completely.
"I'm sorry, dear. It looks like we cannot go back like we were before."
I can feel my wife's hand around my neck and feel her warm breath.
"Don't worry, my husband. We will go through this soon enough."
I hope so because I already hear a nasty rumour about the magister selling their servant to another slave trader to get more money. I did not want my family to become a slave.
"I hope so, dear. I really hope this will pass."
*Knock* *Knock*
I look at the door and get up from the ground. When I open up the door, my eyes widen. In front of me is my elder brother. My brother who supposedly a slave.
"M-Maroon. I-Is that you?"
"Aye. Hello, brother. It's been a while."
"H-How?"
"Can I get inside? I will tell you."
I let him get inside my home, and I could see my wife had the same expression as mine.
"Brother, are you getting away from Vlaros? Also, how do you get your right hand back?"
"Peace, brother. I will tell you."
"Please do."
My brother then tells me about the healer who lives on the island and how they changed the name of the island to Lunaria. I can hear my brother tell me there is a lot of work on the island and food for all of us.
After a few minutes of talking, I can see my brother's eyes land on me and hear him saying.
"I come here because I'm worried about you and your family, brother. Even when I'm at my lowest, you are there to help me. Let me help you when you are at your lowest. We can build a new house for you; there is an empty land next to mine. We can become a big family once again. If it is not for you, think of this offer for your son and other children."
I look at my brother before looking at my wife. I can see some hope inside my wife's eyes. It's been a while since I see some light inside her eyes. I take a deep breath and nod my head.
"Aye. I will accept your offer, brother."
Even if what he said was a lie by any chance, we did not have anything to lose.
"Good" He smiled brightly at my decision. "Then you need to hurry up. Pack anything important. You did not need the food. Lord Viserys will be cooking tonight. We have a few more hours before the ship sets sail."
I nod my head, and we start packing. I don't know what the future will hold for us, but I hope my brother tells the truth. A healer that can heal all your illnesses, a lord that can cook food so good that you can see the heaven and a benevolent lord who will help anyone who is in need.
It sounds like a fantasy to me, to us. However, if what he said is true, then I am willing to give my life to protect that piece of heaven.
