Chapter 1 - What it costs to be late.

Samantha's p.o.v

Tossing and turning at the sound of my alarm. I open my eyes and try to focus my vision on my clock. speaking groggily "9:54...?' I jolt up in my bed as I mutter the time. "Shit I'm already late for school! "Getting out of bed almost tripping over my covers.

Dashing towards my dresser, I grab a pair of joggers and sweatpants. Making my way towards the bathroom. Stripping out of my tank top in shorts, I slip into my clothes and brush my teeth and make an attempt to do my hair. Sighing in anguish, I settle with just putting it in a messy bun. And run to my room grab my school stuff, and head out the door.

Running down the street, I watch as the bus passes down the road and I try to chase after it. slowing down as I'm short of breath.

I curse to myself under my breath and slowly take out my phone defeated. Scrolling through my contacts and make the call.

Ring.Ring.Ring

"Hello?" a soft ladylike voice inquires.

"Hey mom, I was wondering if it was possible if you could come to pick me up for school?" Without waiting for a second warning. My mother begins to protest. "And why didn't you take the bus like you said you were going to."

Trying to let the words out of my mouth. "I-I was going to. B-but I had woken up late and it just passed me." The words blabbering away. I can her sigh through the phone. "Where are you, Samantha"

I let out a sharp exhale that I hadn't realized I'd been holding in. "Down the road from the house." Running a loose strand of my hair behind my ear.

I start walking down back to my street. "okay, I'll be there shortly" Without a second word the click of the call came as my mom hung up.

Making my way to my street I slip my phone into my back pocket. And swing my bag to the front of me. I start looking through my bag, to make sure I have everything for school.

"Notebook, pencils, and pens, why do I feel like I'm still missing something?" Shrugging it off I stop at the end of my street. Waiting for my mom to pull up, I sit down against the stop sign.

Pulling my phone back out of my pocket. Feeling my anxiety and stress raising as my first day at my new school is already going bad. Not only did I wake up late. I also missed the bus, and now I have to wait for my mom to come to get me.

Sighing heavily I lift my legs so my feet are planted into the ground. and rest my forehead onto my knees. Closing my eyes, my head starts filling with memories from the past. Talking to my old friends in my house. If it wasn't for Mom's new job we'd still be living there.

I wait till a bright red car pulls up slowly rolling down the window as they pull up to me "get in." The words came out harshly like venom.

"Why does she have to be this way." Pushing my right index and middle fingers against my temple. And I can see my mom glaring at me from the driver's seat.

Slowly getting up from where I was sitting I feel sudden wetness on the back of my neck. Looking up, I see is a large dark grey cloud and a sudden downpour of rain. Rushing over to the car I say to myself.

"Can this day get any worse? Little did I know how much I was going to regret those words. Getting in the car I buckle my seat belt and before we start heading to school. I look over at my mom trying to offer her an apologetic smile. She shoots me a glare and my smile quickly fades. "Your first day at a new school you are already tardy and not even properly dressed" Sighing and looking down at the ground my mom continues. "what am I going to do with you?"

Looking back up at me, she smiles and lets her glare soften into a warm gaze. She lifts her hand to my face letting it caress my cheek and moves a strand of my hair behind my ear.

"I guess the best thing to do is take me to school." I offer her back the same smile and gaze she gave me. She nodded as we started making our way to the school. Taking this newfound time. I open and look through my bag for my brush. Letting my hair down I brush it and put it in a nice well-done ponytail.

Coming to a stop at a red light. I put away my brush and close my bag. Leaning back in my seat again. I rest my head on the seat and close my eyes. Feeling as we start driving again. Then a sudden feeling of pain and panic overwhelm me.

A/N

This is going to be my first book on here. I will say this now, this book will have explicit/sexual scenes in it. And may contain harsh/crude language. I will try my best to add at least 1 a week and take suggestions from the comments. If there are any grammar or spelling errors I do apologize. But apart from that enjoy!

Thank you.
