Chapter 3 - Metal to Metal

Samantha's p.o.v

Jolting forward as I hear the sound of screeching tires rape my ears. This followed by the crash of metal against metal. Having my face meet the airbag. Opening my eyes, my vision becomes blurry.

I slowly start to lift my head. Groaning at the rapidly increasing headache. Looking over out the window. Slowly realizing what has happened. Seeing the car crash into the side of ours.

Panic begins to fill me as I piece everything together. Looking over to my left towards my mom. Tears fill my eyes as I see her laying on the steering wheel. Blood dripping from the side of her head.

"Mom." My voice coming out mumbled and horas. Tears stream down my face as I reach my hand out to her. Touching her shoulder, I stop as my attention is drawn back to the right of me. Someone is standing outside of my door.

Watching as they pull the door open. Unbuckling my seat belt and from around me. They start speaking to me but the ringing in my ear just makes it incoherent. They stick their head into the car and I can see his face. But just barely.

He comes in closer to my face and I get a better look at him. His blue eyes looked at me intensely. As if trying to read my thoughts. He speaks again this time it comes as a mumble. Reaching his arms under my thighs and his other on my back.

Lifting me out of the car carefully. He carries me out of our car and walks over to the sidewalk. My vision and hearing slowly start to come back. Setting me down gently onto the curve.

I hear sirens approaching in the background. Watching as my savior walks away. "only calling him that for now till I ask his name" Whispering to myself as I watch him Walk back to my car.

The sudden realization that my mom is still in the car. Sends me up onto my feet. Catching up close behind my "savior". Turning the corner of the frozen as he pulls my mother out of the car. Body limp, Arms handing down and the head was thrown back.

Spinning around as the sirens stop. And paramedics come from the back of the ambulance. One comes rushing over to check up on me. As two others make their way to the guy carrying my mom. The paramedic that walked up to me turns my head so I can face them.

"Are you ok?" A lady around the same height asks me. Nodding slowly in response as she turns my head from side to side. Checking for any cuts or marks on my face or neck. Pulling her index finger up in front of my face.

"Can you follow my finger?" Moving her forefinger side to side. Following its movements with my eyes. "thank you" She puts her hand down and offers me a smile. Smiling back at her returning the gesture.

Looking past her I watch as my mom gets hauled onto a stretcher, and put into the back of the ambulance. Walking past the paramedic I run to my mom. Before I make it ten steps. A-arm comes up and wraps around my stomach. Stopping me from taking another step.

Looking up at who stopped me. It was my "savior." "Give them a few moments before you go over there." This time I could hear him. His voice was deep but gentle.

Pushing his arm down and staring into his eyes. "I can walk up there if I want to. And just because you saved me it doesn't give you the right to control me" My emotions getting the best of me. As tears flood my eyes. I look away from him and try to storm past him.

Stopping as I feel his grip around my forearm. The tears streamed down my face. He loosens his grip slightly as he speaks. "I'm telling you to stop to give them a chance to figure out what's wrong with her. If she was conscious and sitting over there I wouldn't interfere But because she isn't I need you to give them a moment."

Turning around to face him. I walk forward, stopping directly in front of him. "I want to at least ask them how my mom is doing. Or see if she's gonna have to go to the hospital." Standing on my tippy toes yelling in his face.

"And I want to rush over there because I'm concerned for my mother's well-being. So how are you going to tell me what to do? When I don't even know your damn name!" Leaning forwards shortens the distance between us even more. Getting so close that the tips of our noses are a hair strand apart.

"It's Adam," He says softly offering a smile along with it.

"Huh. What are you talking about?" Stooping down to the palms of my feet. Backing away slightly finally realizing how close I was to him. Making my cheeks turn a rosy red. He had an amazing smile. It looked so pure and innocent that no matter how you felt it would warm you up.

"Oh sorry about that. It's Adam, my name is Adam. You said you didn't know it. So you may call me Adam" Nodding my head slowly. Looking away from him.

"Call me Samantha" Reaching my hand out. Looking at him through the corner of my eye. Feeling as his rough calloused hands take in mine.
