"What if BigJo really have people working in her father's house. That will be very dangerous for her family.. It also means they are not safe. She will have to carry out an investigation on everyone of them when she gets back if not how would the shooter have known her room and those that followed her how will they have known she was leaving the compound by that time..
"You should pick your call" Pedro reminded her of the phone ringing
A quick glance at the phone showed the incoming call was from a number she didn't save in her phone. She didn't find it suspicious as sometimes she receives emergency calls from people who need her help.
"Hello detective Haley on the line" She stated immediately she picked the phone as she wondered who will be calling her that early in the morning.
"This is the manager from the mall you visited this evening ma" a male voice came from the other end.
It occured to Haley immediately that she had asked for that security guard to be placed in custody till she comes back for him.
"I remember now. I am sorry I ought to have come back but I was caught up in something else. I will be coming there in less than an hour " she informed him as she thought about how he was able to get her number. She remembers not giving him her number.
The mall was one of those that are always opened at any time of the day so she knew going there that early will be possible.
"Maam that's not the problem. The problem is that the guard you asked us to keep in our custody has been killed. We discovered his dead body some minutes ago" He informed her
Haley's heart was immediately pierced by that news. She corked her fist in frustration and punched the nearest chair to her.
" Why did she not think of something like this? "She scolded herself mentally. She stole a glance at Pedro who was looking at her with a confused look on his face.
"I will be there soon. Have you called the police? She asked forgetting her own position.
"The owner of the mall has already placed a call to them. I just said to inform you since you were the one who wanted him" he replied.
"Thank you I will be there soon enough " she appreciated him befor ending the call.
She immediately sent a text message to Eric and Brain to meet her in the mall. It was now she was regretting her decision to take just two persons from that team. With multiple cases coming up from this case she would need more hands than she anticipated.
"What is wrong? Pedro asked with concern in his eyes.
She could tell he was truely concern about her at this stage.
She narrated to him eveything that happened when she first went to the mall and the recent development from the mall.
"That is bad. The more you handle this case the more people will die. "
"I will need to go now, my men will be heading there now already " she said as she stood up.
" I will go with you " Pedro offered immediately
"That's sweet of you but I cannot afford to take you along with me. Right now I don't even know if its you they want or if its me. We don't even know for certain if this is the work of BigJo. Sometimes the obvious persons are usually not the culprit " she said giving him reasons why he could not come with her. Although she really wished he could come with her. She would feel safer with him around.
"So what should I do while you are away? He asked as he watched her move to the wardrope to have a change of clothes.
"Nothing, you must not do anything " she replied him. She already have a feeling he would not listen to her
"Take this phone incase you have anything to tell me, call me with it" she said handing him a phone from the wardrope.
