A ten-year-old child with cat-like eyes and ocean-blue hair lived in a small secluded village. Her beauty was so alluring that any male would want to court her, but many feared her.
The child and her family were driven out of the village because of her domineering and strange appearance.
They were humiliated, reviled, frightened, and mistreated. The people in the village afterward killed her mother.
Together with her mother's companion, who claimed to be her aunt, the two of them fled into the forest, where they lived for two years. They were then pursued by assassins and separated on the way.
She was surrounded and had no choice but to flee into the dark forest, where she would be impossible to find and no one would dare to approach her.
The youngster had no idea what was about to happen to her. Her instincts told her she shouldn't go.
She dashed into the forest, her eyes filled with dread and malice, seeing as she didn't have much choice.
The child ran deeper and deeper into the forest until she collapsed on the ground unconscious.
Roswald, a hunter, others referred to him as the cold-blooded monster. The truth is that he was a caring and compassionate person.
On any given day, Roswald goes hunting in the forest. As he walked deeper into the forest, he discovered a black mist enveloping the trees.
He felt threatened, so he called it a day and returned to the village to inform the guild master of what he had witnessed.
The child lay unconscious on the ground in the dark forest. A cloud of black mist engulfed her. It was getting thicker by the time the child became unaware of her surroundings.
In the Village of Danbell, a massive eye in the mist was peering back. The people were laid back and enjoying themselves, unaware of the danger lurking in the forest.
Roswald arrives at the village guild, sells the monster skin he has captured, and requests a meeting with guild master Geld to discuss the impending danger he saw back in the forest.
The black mist that engulfed the forest began to shroud the entire area around the village wall little by little.
Roswald meets the guild master and village chief Mario in the guild office at the appropriate time to discuss some matters.
As time goes by the village guards noticed something strange in the air and as he focuses his gaze in the forest direction he notices the moving mist bringing along monsters inside it coming closer in the village.
Geld, Mario and Roswald were in a discussion when they suddenly heard the bell rang loudly across the village.
Their conversation cut short and guild masters' assistant, Sheena, stormed into the room and yelled,
"Guild master monsters from one hundred miles away from the village are heading this way at a brisk!"
They were stunned by the news and leapt from their seats, taking immediate action.
"How long has it been since the monster started moving?" Geld asked.
"That we don't know, the mist brought the monster toward us." Sheena stated, panickly.
"Calm down and instruct all our people to take action in prioritizing the villagers safety." Geld said.
"Y-yes, guild master, right away." Sheena scurried away.
Geld sent a messenger pigeon to the capital to seek help. While Mario, the village chief, immediately attempts to pacify his people.
Many hunters were summoned to fight, but nearly half of them refused and escaped on their own, while the rest didn't care.
Geld and Mario was in trouble because they lacked power and strength and were outnumbered by monsters.
The soldiers of the village were evacuating all of the villagers, hoping that they would be able to leave the village and go to a safe place, but they couldn't because the village was already surrounded by monsters.
The monsters are getting close to the village, ten of the hunters and soldiers who were willing to fight were losing hope.
They were terrified and despondent as their lives were coming to an end.
But they throw away their pride and despair and said proudly,
"Instead of waiting to die, we'd rather fight than become cowards and see the village destroyed," as they looked up at the sky with the eyes of a warrior.
Roswald rush through the forest ignoring the danger he will get to, killing hordes of monsters as they approached the village, while they were all in despair.
Many witnessed Roswald easily hunting down the monsters. It was as if he was only hitting a ball that was thrown his way.
Geld almost felt sorry for the monsters Roswald encounters on his path, the hunters and soldiers were astounded and couldn't move from where they stand.
He was like a ravaging beast, slaughtering all the monsters indefinitely.
They were all embarrassed and hopeless, seeing Roswald fighting the monsters alone.
They were moved by him and began moving forward, fighting the horde of monsters and beating them from north to south.
Some were left in the village to defend the fortifications.
Roswald grew tired, his grip was slipping and his vision was becoming blurry.
A big grizzly bear with thorn at its back stands before him as his vision blurs, its claws readied to attack him but thankfully Geld comes in and blocks the attack.
He would have been slashed, Geld hadn't arrived in time to help him.
"Thanks," Roswald said, as he gasp for air.
"Get some rest I-" Gelds' word was cut halfway when suddenly Roswald swung his sword.
There was a monster at Gelds' back, pouncing and bearing its fangs, the two were deafeningly quiet. They couldn't continue talking because they were surrounded by both sides.
The monster stood motionless, as if watching them for signs of weakness in their prey.
Roswald was intimidating them with his voice. One of the monsters, a Miacidae, which resembled a bear and a dire wolf, stepped forward, seemingly to be the monster's commander.
Geld was terrified of the monsters and swallowed his saliva because of its huge size. Roswald remained calm and concentrated on the monster's movements.
They locked their gazes on each other, as if reading each other's movements.
As the tension grew, the wind became blazingly hot.
The Miacedae advanced with a commanding aura. Roswald swung his sword and evaded the Miacedae's attack, leaving a scar on the Miacedae's body.
Geld, on the other hand, was having difficulty dealing with the weak monsters and one of the dire wolves.
He was wounded all over, and he was tired, but his tiredness didn't matter because his life was in danger.
If he became tired and showed weakness to the enemy, the ground where he stood would become his grave.
Roswald had been fighting the Miacedae for quite some time, exchanging vicious blows here and there. Neither of them gives in to the other.
The Miacedae has grown tired, and Roswald seizes the opportunity to deliver a final blow to the monster, but it was not an easy process.
As it sensed the sharp blade approaching its throat, it raised its guard.
Roswald's blade shattered into pieces when it collided with its bear fangs, he hesitates, and the Miacedae notices and charges at him with confidence.
Geld yelled his name, "Roswald!"
He regained his composure when he saw Gelds' wounded body and avoided the Miacedae's attack barely.
After its attack, the Miacedae pant heavily. Roswald attacks it with his bare hands because he lacks a blade.
His punch hits the vital point of the Miacedae and suffocates mercilessly and indefinitely.
The Miacedae attacked him as well, but it couldn't hit him because its vision had become blurry and blackened where Roswald had inflicted a wound.
The beast was finally defeated after an endless exchange of attacks.
Roswald and Geld then collapsed on the ground, exhausted, but the battle was far from over.
As Roswald began to lose consciousness, he noticed people approaching them, killing all monsters that tried to approach the village with magic.
Back in the village, the hunters and soldiers were slaying the last of the monsters that were heading their way.
Five of them were severely injured, they were all exhausted from the never-ending battle.
There were many more monsters lurking around Danbell's village, some weak monsters infiltrated the village and wreaked havoc.
The hunters were barely keeping them out of the village, it was so difficult that they had all given up hope when an unknown force appeared to assist them.
Ten knights on flying horses and four mages flying in the sky from the capital were speeding into the village to assist them in slaying all the monsters on their way.
Then Mario appeared and greeted them, but the greeting didn't last long because there were many monsters heading their way.
The battle lasted until sunrises, with the first, second, and final waves of monsters and beasts.
The monsters were defeated after a long battle, and some of the weaker monsters retreated back into the forest.
As a result, the village was destroyed following a lengthy battle.
Some of the hunters and soldiers were severely injured while defending the village, but the village was safe as a result, but death could not be avoided.
Many of the villagers were killed.
Many celebrated their victory and some holds a funeral for the dead people.
They were in silence and the air was filled with sadness and grief for their loved ones.
When Roswald and Geld awoke, they discovered that the battle had ended.
The two were lying on the ground, unwinding, from where he was lying, Roswald noticed something shining in the forest, he arose from the ground and moved towards the source of the light.
To be continued....
