Despite continuous rain for the past few days, it was rare sunny day. In the west side of the city was a dilapidated apartment which only poor took shelter. Small kids were running around the area while elderly engaged in small talks sitting near the entrance. Despite the dilapidated look of the apartment the environment around was kept clean. Even thought it was a living area of poor people they kept the environment cleanly and tidy. That showed the mannerism of the people reside in the apartment.
There is blue painted apartment on the fifth floor of the building. The house was not big, but it was a lovely decorated. In the living room there is only a small old couch, an old television, a radio, and a plastic table with two chairs. There is a small area divided as a kitchen with a stove, rack filled with pots and pans few bowls and utensils. There is only one room and a small balcony.
A girl dressed in a washed off jeans and a bangy t-shirt was inside the kitchen humming a soft tune. She had a breathtakingly beautiful face. Despite being 18 years old her body is petite and skinny. It was obvious that she hasn't been properly nourished. Her jade like skin looked a little paler. Wang Xinyi was in a good mood today as the most important person in her life is coming back after a week of his business trip.
"He will be coming later at evening. Should I prepare some snack and a dessert for the night? That's it I should. He will be delighted. Hehe."
"Hmm what should I make?" She was taking to herself while opening the small refrigerator in the kitchen looking for the ingredients.
After checking she decided to go with a simple veg-wrapper and some onion rings with a sauce based on soy sauce. Getting some carrots, leeks, potatoes, and onion she washed them clean after shedding the skin. Then she cut the carrot and potatoes into small squares while also cutting leeks and onion. After that she made a batter for the wraps using flour, Coconut milk, little bit of turmeric powder. Then she added some oil to the pot and let it simmer. Getting pieces of the vegetables she added it to the simmering oil. She also added some chili flakes, powder pepper and salt. Stirring it she took a pan and added some butter and kept it in the stove. After the pan got hot, she added spoonful of the batter and spread it across the pan shape of a pancake. When the wrapper become hint of golden, she dropped it in a plate and added the stir-fried vegetables and wrapped the wrapper around it like a spring roll. She continued the process while giggling to herself in happiness.
Later she cut another onion in shape of rings and spread it in a batter consist of gram flour and little bit of water. Next, she deep fried it in oil. Taking small bowl she added some soy sauce, vinegar and pinch of salt and stirred it. Plating everything she made, Wang Xinyi smiled in satisfaction. One look at the clock she knew her love would be home anytime soon. So, she boiled some water for tea.
Then decorated the small plastic table in the living room with some fresh flowers from her flowerpots in the balcony. Then she set the table with the dishes she made while humming according to the soft music flowing out of the radio. Suddenly she heard sound of door being unlocked. With a wide smile on her face, she turned to the door. Anticipation and happiness were the only things could be found on her face.
