As soon as I stood up to walk towards the door of the school, the bell rang.
"Shit!" I said as I picked up speed and darted down the hall towards my first class.
I hurriedly opened the door, kept my eyes to the floor and prayed that no one would say anything to me because I really don't think I can handle anything else today.
My first class was with Miss Hamilton and I could sense her eyes burning a hole into me as I walked to my desk in the back of class.
I was trying to mentally prepare myself for her inevitable tongue lashing for being late, but when I finally reached my seat and got the nerve to look up at her, she
gave me a sympathetic glance instead and then continued on with her lesson.
Great! Now the teacher feels sorry for me.
I just knew that today was going to be hell for me, as it normally is, but surprisingly, the day went by quite quickly and quiet.
I had finally made it to the end of the day, and no one had talked down to me or tried to make feel like I was the cancer of our pack and I have to admit it felt good...until...
"What's up, Jade!"
I knew that rough and masculine voice better than I knew my own mind.
I turned around and saw my best friend walking out of the girl's restroom and towards me.
"Chance! What are you doing here? And in the girl's room?" As soon as the words left my lips, I saw Tia come out of the restroom, straightening her skirt.
Figures.
As soon as she made eye contact with me, the smile she had on her face vanished.
"Why the fuck are you out here, Breeder Bitch?" She hissed.
Chance grabbed her by her throat and pushed her to the wall.
"Do not talk to her like that! I've warned you before Tia. Stop being a bitch!"
My eyes grew large and I gawked as I witnessed the scene transpiring before my own eyes.
She fought to catch her breath but that only made him grip her throat even tighter.
"Sh...she is...isn't impor...tant baby. I...I am your mate. How...how can you take her side before mine?" She asked.
"I will always take the side of right and you know damn well that you were wrong. Jade has done nothing to you! So, watch your fucking mouth!"
Just as it seemed that she had lost all the color in her face, he let go of her neck. She coughed violently but it didn't seem to faze Chance at all.
"Ye..yes my alpha!" She whispered.
Damn! I know Chance and I are best friends, but I never would have thought that he'd take my side over his evil ass mate.
He turned his back to her and walked over to me. He grabbed my face and gave me a kiss on my forehead... in front of Tia.
"Come with me. The school day is over anyway. I want to walk you home."
Without giving Tia another thought, he grabbed my hand and led me out of the school.
It was kind of bittersweet. I hated this fucking school, the teachers, and every student that walked these halls, but I knew this was my last day of freedom. After
today, it won't matter what's in my head...just what's between my legs.
Chance was the only bright spot in my school life. However, it didn't last long being that he's older than me by two years and he never lets me forget it.
I think he took pity on me being that he knew that I'm destined to be the next breeder and everyone in our pack stays far away from me. You'd think being a breeder was contagious.
I loved Chance and I'd hoped that he was my mate, but of course, the moon goddess has it out for me and she made the shallowest bitch in the school his mate.
