Chapter 20 - Ch 20. A new friend

After reaching lvl 5. The [Shop] option on my profile was not gray anymore. [Exchange] option also became active.

Exchange option was good, I tried to exchange a lot of things. Like stones, dirt or even water; it denied access. It only took legitimate stuff that has worldly value. The system was no fool!

The exchange options were either in gold coins, amethyst coins or soul points. I had killed some animals during these time period. Exchanged their furs, flesh, bones, teeth; eventually sometimes the whole carcass. The payback was good.

I changed the payment option into soul points as worldly currency was not a problem. Plus, the store only accepts soul points as currency.

The store had a lot of stuffs divided into segments. Weapons, supplies, ammo etc.

I had accumulated 1 million soul points. In the weapons section there were many advanced firearms than the one's I was using. But, the price was sky high. I didn't had that much soul points to buy them.

There was even tanks, antitank cannons. Armour piercing rounds. Incendiary rounds. Heavy machine guns for defence posting. Mortars, long range cannons etc. Tons of stuffs for infantry units were there too. Healing potions of low tier, mid tier to even high tier were available.

Stuffs for day to day living like soaps, perfumes, talcum powder, pillows, foods, dresses everything including medicines were also stacked up for sale.

There were many blurred out slots, hopefully those would open up soon and there would be more of these amazing stuffs.

Someday I'll achieve the peak; with this arsenal. But, right now I needed to earn soul points by killing.

I had almost everything, apart from an actual assault rifle. The one I have right now is mp40, a submachine gun good for close to mid range combat. But an assault rifle can do more in terms of range and firepower.

Kalashnikov or the one we call a trusty ak47, would have been nice. But, the buying cost was too much; 350k soul points plus the soul points for the cartridges. It would be surely around 400-450k! Almost half of what I had earned would go away in one swoop...

In the firearms section scrolling down a bit I found an interesting object. The first of it's kind; the first assault rifle of the world. A stg44/mp44!

Mostly people say that Kalashnikov/ak47 was the first assault rifle but this concept came from mp44/stg44. It was durning the last day's of ww2, the Nazi regime had created this beauty, which changed the course of battle. And it is pretty much applicable in today's battlefields too.

It costed me around 150k; another 50k for 50k cartridges. The cartridges were basically 1soul point per cartridge. The price only varied for grenades, anti personnel mines, rocket shells or incendiary/ armour piercing rounds. The rest was same.

It even came with an adjustable scope, with thermal screen projection. It could be used during night too! Basically a thermal screen projection is like an added scope over the assault rifle. The noticeable difference is that, it only works at night & can see human body temperature in darkness. This way even in night I can take down enemies, without having any problem.

There is night vision goggles in the shop but it costed around 250k and I didn't wanted to waste money there.

The stg44 was 5+ kg in weight, it has 30 rounds chamber system like any modern assault rifle has. The basics were pretty much same, one shot firing mechanism, 3 round burst fire and full auto. In full auto the rate of accuracy decreases a lot, plus the recoil is pretty high due to it's old mechanism. So, three round burst or single shots are best for me. Full auto would be reserved only for risky situations.

The advanced assault rifles has much less rocoil but the price in store was sky high. I needed to save some points for future too; in case of any emergency. Another nice add on kind of feature was there, about choosing magazines. I selected the double drum mags, almost around 150 cartridges per magazine. High devastation, less reload time. The double drum mags did cost me bit more soul points; it was worth it...

To do a test run, I had a specific plan. I wen't towards the battle arena.

The guards stopped me from stepping up the staircase towards the main office. After the failed assassination, the owner was pretty much shocked. He has got more security now; a lot of money was spent to increase the security by hiring mercenaries and body guards.

The two men who was standing at the entrance gate stopped me by making an "X" with their spear.

"Unauthorised personnels are not allowed. If you have a permission or appointment letter show it."

The guards were pretty strong, they were muscular and tall. Could easily take down a lot of guys in hand to hand or close combat.

I chuckled, "Appointment/permission."

Both the guards replied in unison, "Yes. Do you have one?"

The guards were looking with an anxious face towards me as I stepped back. The tension was rising and in between that they were more confused when I had started laughing.

They were confused and looked at each other's face. In the mean time the whole of ground floor echoed with a rattling sound of my stg44.

Two burst fires were enough to make a path through the dead bodies of both the guards.

"You guys were asking about permission, appointment letter. But, the thing is that I brought my new friend & you didn't even said hello. Aww..."

[Earned 1197 exp points+ 901 soul points for killing a mercenary]

[Earned...]

While I was storing the dead bodies in my storage, a large number of footsteps were gushing towards me.

the hornet's nest have been stirred up. While they were coming down. I did a reload and rigged the stairway with tripwire & two anti personnel mines.

It will reduce the number & break some morales. After all sell swords they were... I took a crouched stance with my stg44 pointed straight towards the incoming barrage.
