Erios was waiting in line and could hear the bustling of the city. Vendors, merchants and visitors all walked around chatting most oblivious about what really went on there.
As it became his turn, the two knights checking papers took a look at him and scoffed. Erios appearance didn't merit much respect as he only had the cloak given to him along with common garments. The lead knight took another look and stared Erios down who also returned the stare.
"Aye boy you got a problem or something?"
Erios knew he had to get in and despite wanting to knock the knights teeth out, he figured it'd be better to lay low.
"No Sir I was wondering if you could tell me how to get to the Adventurer Guild. I'm
here to get tested.
"Aye Fred ya hear this? This chump wants to get tested. Don't look like much. What ya think?" The other knight, Fred, laughed. "Fuck it, let him get tested maybe he'll get killed on his first mission and save the kingdom some money. Go on boy, go get tested Haha."
Erios just nodded and walked on into the kingdom. As he walked, he tried to remember the way, as he only visited this Kingdom once with his dad in his past life. He remembered his dad stopping him in front of the Guild, saying this was the place heroes was born…His dad couldn't have been more wrong.
More and more adventurers decided to take bribes, extort missions, and commit crimes themselves. It was a cesspool of corruption and he'd cut the cancer from the inside out. He didn't bother with shops as he knew the adventurers no matter the rank got the best gear deals.
After a few minutes of walking, he finally came to an area that was more busier than usual. He knew he was in the right place. He stepped in front of a giant Building that had a lot of traffic going in and out. He walked in as he got stares from everyone.
Once inside he realized it was all laid out relatively simple. Missions were posted on a wall in the back, There was a lounge area, private rooms to rent, as well as a bar and kitchen area. He walked up to the front desk where a short, cute, bubbly red head stood. Erios looked at her then her shoulder which displayed a Silver badge with 2 stars attached. Erios knew this mean she was on the verge of possibly becoming a Gold ranked adventurer.
She looked up from her paperwork and realized she had never seen him but was taken aback due to his looks. "You're quite handsome. What can I do ya for?"
Erios was slightly taken aback by her brazenness. "I'm here to take the adventurer test."
The girl got visibly excited. It had been awhile since they got any new members so she was ecstatic. "Sure thing fill in the form, and when you're done follow me to the back. I'm Layla." Erios smiled and introduced himself. After, he did as told and proceeded to follow the girl. He was at first skeptical as he thought maybe she was trying to pull a fast one on him.
She led him to a dark room which only increased his suspicions but once both were inside, the room lit up as if their presence was the trigger to the lights. She then proceeded to explain the test.
"Don't be nervous this room is where the test will happen. It's quite simple and will be broken into 3 phases. Mana capacity, Mana nature and Combat prowess. The room will be able to read your mana output and assign a score. Then it'll read the nature to see if it has an affinity towards certain types of magic. Then the combat test. This test will summon 5 monsters. Each of varying rank degree. We do this test to make sure individuals are capable of properly utilizing their magic and to score additional elements of their skills. If you die, don't worry, it's all magic simulation Good luck!"
She immediately rushed out, closing the door behind her leaving Erios standing there. He look anxious and knew he had to do his best. 'Well shall we get on with it then.
