Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: Let’s do business

Calley crinkled her forehead in frustration while giving Xai a dirty look. Why is he bringing an marriage arrangement out? Why can't he just stop being stubborn and listen to me first Calley thought to herself. She watched Kyler quietly hand the papers to Xai. Before Xai could hand them to her she stood up and walked over to him. Things between the two of them we're getting quickly out of control and Calley knew she needed to solve this matter before it was unsolvable. She was only wanting to tell Xai her feelings but she but instead she came across as harsh and Xai had took it in the wrong way causing a misunderstanding between the two of them. She stood in front of Xai who was refusing to look at her in the eyes. He was off in his own thoughts and she could tell he was disappointed and angry with the way things were progressing. She gently touches his face to get his attention and knelt down in front of him carefully trying to find the correct words as she paused and closed her eyes trying to focus. She took in a deep breathe inhaling and exhaling slowly pondering on her thoughts. Once focused she opened them once again and his baby blues were locked onto hers. He seemed to be interested in hearing what she was going to say. This is good she thought to herself. "Xai I will read your papers but first I think you should listen to me. I didn't mean I didn't want to marry you. I just think you should know some of my concerns and I'll listen to yours as well. Is that ok Xai? She pauses giving him time to think and properly answer her. He nods and she proceeds with her speech. "Let me tell you a little about myself. I just got out of a two year relationship that started out amazing but developed into something toxic. At the beginning he seemed kind and caring but eventually I found that he was controlling and very abusive. I wasn't ready to have sex with him at the time and I think after the while he was irritated with me. He would get drunk and try to force me but I never would so he would throw things at me and hit me. After awhile I had found out he was cheating on me with many woman. I Kind-of expected this towards the end of the relationship. All my trust that I had left was gone and I was miserable." As a tear fell down her face and Xai instinctually wiped the tear away. She stared at him in the eyes. "That is when you met me. I wanted to just be set free. I wanted a night of not being myself but Xai did you know that woman you met was not like me at all? I am in fact the opposite of that. I'm not confident, spontaneous, sexy….in fact I'm just boring me. Xai if I marry you let me ask you can you stop having playdates because I don't share my man. I know this is a business relationship between families but my parents fell in love after marriage and I was always hoping they would pick me a husband who could possibly love me. With all the rumors about you honestly it scares me. Do you see yourself ever falling in love with me? I my don't expect you too right away but I'm just asking these things for the future. I figured we could start out as friends even though we're married and we will attend all the functions for our family and work. We will respect each other and of course sleep in different rooms until we are ready. At this moment she was rambling out all of her questions and demands causing Xai to get a little irritated because she wouldn't let him speak. her Instinctively he touched her face bringing it to meet his. Calley stopped speaking and wondered what he was going to say. "We can sleep in the same bed without doing anything and I will respect you" Xai whispered. He gently touched his lips with hers as if only doing so to get her attention. He sucked in his breathe and sucking hers as well. She widened her eyes. Now staring at each other intensely he speaks slowly and carefully. "Calley, I know I'm labeled as a lady's man, playboy, womanizer but i think you will find there's more to me than that. I just haven't found the woman I'd like to settle down with. I never accepted any wedding proposals because I have never found her. There hasn't been one woman that I've had any special pull towards. But I am the one that called my dad about this proposal. I don't love you at the moment and you don't love me but that doesn't mean we won't. I do know I'm physically attracted to you but not just that. There is something about you that draws me to you. Your always on my mind…..". He pauses and the calmly proceeds. "Yes Calley I will try to stop my play dates and I will try this marriage with you. I won't be perfect but hopefully you can help me and let me know when I upset you. But you have to pe patient with me. I'm sure there are things about you that I'll have to control my temper as well. Just let's make a pact to communicate or it won't work. Are you willing to give me a chance?" He waits patiently for her answer. She notices he really seems to be honest with his behavior and he seems genuine. She smiles sincerely and decides to just go with what her heart is telling her. "Yes Xai I will marry you and I'm willing to give us a chance." He smiles uncontrollably and tore up the marriage proposal into shreds. He called Kyler again and asked him to bring him the flowers and ring. Calley sighed in relief. Things were a little rocky for a second but now she really feels somewhat comfort in her final decision which is to marry Xai Andrews. She's taking a leap of faith in this man she hardly knows but he probably feels the same as her as well. Kyler walks in the room and hands the ring and flowers to Calley. Xai quickly grabs the ring and opens it taking the ring out of the box and places it on Calleys finger. She gasps in awe about how simple this diamond ring was but so very beautiful at the same. It was a small silver band that had "FOREVER" and Calleys and Xais initials engraved on it with a small Dimond. She absolutely love the simplicity of the ring. It's perfect she thought to herself.
