Chapter 9 - the gift

hey quickly arrived at school. And they rushed inside, both looking for their respective classrooms and finding them easily within moments.

Misaki grinned at the sight of his classroom. It was his favorite place to study. His favorite teacher was his teacher and she treated him like she treats her students. She always had kind words and compliments to give. Sometimes she would give him extra homework, which he took eagerly. Other times she gave him extra assignments because he was so smart. He loved it here. Especially right now. Because his teacher was standing outside his classroom waiting for him. He waved, walking up to her as she greeted him.

"Good Morning, Misaki," his teacher said as she smiled.

"Morning, Sensei," Misaki replied as he walked up and leaned against the wall. He sighed, leaning further against it.

"You must be exhausted," his teacher commented as she looked at him with a sympathetic expression.

"Yeah," Misaki sighed again, "it's been a long weekend."

"I hear you," his teacher responded as she walked closer to him, "It seems like I've gotten less messages from you. Are you getting enough rest?"

"Yeah. Yeah. Definitely."

"Hmm," his teacher hummed in response, staring at him worriedly. Misaki smiled slightly.

"You don't need to worry, Sensei."

"Well, it's a good thing to be careful, after all."

"I know," Misaki nodded, chuckling softly. His teacher smiled gently at him, giving him a small nod as she walked away.

The door opened suddenly.

"Misaki!"

"Yamato!"

Misaki exclaimed happily as he looked up at the person who came barging into his classroom, "Hey, Yama. How are ya doing?"

"Doing fine," Yamato laughed, taking a seat beside him, "How was your weekend?"

"Not bad. Had a little fun, y'know? Nothing really exciting happened though. Just hung out with Akira."

"Akira huh?"

"Yep, he invited me over to hang out and eat breakfast this weekend, but I have somewhere I have to go first."

"Where do you have to go?"

"Nowhere important. Just somewhere I have to go," Misaki chuckled.

"Right," Yamato responded, laughing lightly, "So, where do you want to eat for breakfast?"

"Anywhere really. We can grab anything we want."

"Alright.Alright."

"What are your plans for today?"

"Not much. I'll probably just chill and watch TV."

"Do you think we could go shopping together this weekend?"

"Probably. Why?"

"Nothing. I just thought you might need some new clothes since we are having our birthday lunch together tomorrow."

"Yeah. Maybe."

"What should we get for dinner?"

"Don't know."

"Are you hungry? Do you want to order takeout?"

"Nah. We already got something ready when we were at the store yesterday."

"Ah. Okay. What do you want to do, then?"

"Maybe something simple. Like a movie? Or a video game? Something fun to do that won't require us to leave the house for a while."

"Sounds good to me."

"What about you?"

"Well, I'm gonna go shopping."

"For clothes or for something else?"

"Both, really."

"Hmm. That sounds like a lot of work. I bet it will be a lot of money for you."

"Haha. You'd think, wouldn't you?"

"Hm. Sounds like a lot of money."

"You bet it is."

"Wow. That sounds like a lot."

"Heh.Yeah, I guess it does. It's not easy being rich, you know?"

"No. I can't imagine what it feels like, though."

"Yeah, well, you don't have to imagine. It is real. And it sucks."

"Yes, yes, it definitely does. It really, really sucks. Like, really really suck."

"Yeah. Totally sucks."

"You know, I don't think I could ever understand what it's like being rich."

"Neither can I."

"That sucks."

"Yeah. You know, you'd think rich people would be nicer than rich people, y'know? Kind and friendly and all that jazz, but they aren't. Rich people tend to be assholes. They're mean and rude and everything in between. Some people seem nice, but most of them are not. They're horrible people. There's a reason why so many poor kids end up in the orphanage. People like those people."

"I suppose there's a reason for that."

"There is."

"I guess that makes sense."

"Yeah."

"Anyway, you gonna go shopping with me or just sit around watching movies?"

"Oh. Right.
