Chapter 32 - Chapter 31

"He's not here either." I said with a sigh as we left the most recent safe house we had raided in our search for Banner. "Are you sure that you don't have at least some sort of hint about where he might be now?"

"I'm sorry, but Bruce and I weren't exactly on talking terms during this age." Betty deadpanned at me and I simply raised my hands in surrender. It wasn't like I was doubting her, I was just bored.

In none of the movies or comic books one gets to see the more… mundane parts of searching for people. It's always just a few shots of people moving around right before they miraculously catch up to their target. We, on the other hand, didn't have the blessing of chase montages in order to cut our search short; instead we had to search for all the safe houses of Banner that Betty knew of, one by one.

"Whelp, I guess we're off to the next one then." Valeria said with little joy in her voice as she set course for the next safe house. "What exactly is the plan when we find Banner though?"

"Make sure he stays calm while we explain the current situation and then take him to the school. We can think about what do to next after we got him."

"And what if Doctor Banner is already… transformed?" Storm asked with a tilt of her head, seemingly unconcerned by the dangerous aura emitting from Betty at such a question.

"Then I will punch the green bastard back into being Banner and then talk to him."

"You seem quite confident about such a confrontation."

"I would give myself a good chance. The Hulk of this age isn't the unstoppable beast he had been in our future, I should be able to win against him at least four times out of ten fights."

"…Hulk will get stronger?" There was a faint trace of fear in Storm's voice and I honestly couldn't blame her, even if I was morbidly amused by her fear.

"He once got strong enough that his steps caused earthquakes that affected entire cities." Betty said with a snort and then smirked at the now pale faced Storm. "And that was when he was holding himself back." Huh, that sounded familiar. Did that mean the whole World War Hulk fiasco happened even with my presence? That was kinda sad and made me question the work ethic of the future me.

"Cool mental image but not exactly helpful right now." I piped up from my seat. "Also your plan seems to be lacking of what to do in case some idiots are harassing the jolly green giant."

"Then we beat up some idiots and then the green guy." You gotta love muscle girls and their straightforward solutions.

"This place is a dump." Valeria said with a sigh as they reached another safe house.

Honestly, she had a half mind killing Betty for dragging their lord to such a filthy place. Unfortunately, her lord seemed to have placed value in the red skinned woman's opinions and likely would be displeased if she were to die.

She still couldn't believe that she was in a time period where her lord was still young. It was weird to see the being of absolute power as an inexperienced young man who hadn't had his powers for long. Hells, her lord did not even have an education in the arcane arts! She was his superior in magic , a blasphemous thought that should have no business being true.

Yet such a thought brought forward another blasphemous thought. Could she be the one that would teach the supreme one of the arcane arts?! The thought was as astounding as it was heretical but she couldn't get it out of her mind now. Could there actually be an honor beyond helping her lord prepare in order to claim his rightful place?

"That's pretty much all someone has when they are on the run from... pretty much everyone." Betty said with a sigh as she ripped the door out with one hand. "He was here not too long ago, and he was angry."

"How do you know?" Storm asked as she looked around the hut.

"I can sense the gamma." Red skinned woman said with a frown before kneeling down and placed a hand on the floor. "It's not exactly much, so he didn't transform, but the fact that he simply just grew angry doesn't make sense."

"Really? People get mad at random things all the time." Her lord said with a shrug and Valeria nodded, as always her lord was correct.

"Not Bruce. He doesn't get mad at random stuff like normal people, he never did. But he does get angry intensely when something does anger him." Betty said with a frown before looking up. "I think he might be close, and we just might have to punch a very big green man."

"I'm okay with that." Her lord said with a shrug and then they left the hut.

The next half an hour was spend walking in the woods around the hut in order to at least get a clue where the Hulk could be. Which was then ended by her lord's words.

"Heads up!" He yelled as he stretched his arms and grabbed her and Laura before jumping back. Right before a huge object crashed where they just had been. A very humanoid object.

"Hehahaha!" A very humanoid object that was laughing. "Just as I suspected, you truly are worthy of receiving my gift; green beast!" A very humanoid and muscular object that was laughing and was only half dressed in a skirt. "The gift of battle that is!"
