It was a cold night in New York and Scarlet still hadn't yet found Argus the three of them had moved half the whole city and were all very exhausted from the journey,
"Are you sure we are in the right direction Scarlet cause am feeling like you just dragging us around?" Alex rasped despite the weakness of a dry throat.
"We are almost there," Scarlet responded leading the two till she stopped at the site of a huge, dark, and abandoned church that was across the street.
Jack and Alex were disappointed by the site but if she said this was the place she sensed Argus would be. They had to take their chances and follow Scarlet during this quest as a small way of keeping her safe.
They arrived at the entrance made of heavy wooden doors which Jack pushed wide open allowing the three of them all to walk in with ease.
From within the church was extremely dark, you could smell the stench of dead birds and feel the intense cobwebs that surrounded most of the seats.
Alex conjured a spell that made the candles next to them light up to aid them to see.
"Okay, I guess we will rest here for tonight since we can't risk going to a hotel or anything public. Hayward may locate us," Jack said,
"I thought we were here following Argus, footsteps," said Alex.
Scarlet knew that she was still angry at them for not inviting her for this quest.
"We are, he was here a few days ago," Scarlet said, settling her weighted backpack on the dusty floor and unzipping it pulling out three bottles of water that she tossed to her friends.
Jack grabbed his bottle as he scanned the church for anything suspicious he looked on the walls and saw scratches all over them, using his incredible eyesight he looked deeper into the scratches and noticed something alarming.
He then heard something lurking within the church seats but when he tried to see it, it vanished.
He quickly stood up and that raised an alarm at both Scarlet and Alex,
"What is it?" Alex asked out of panic.
"We aren't the only ones here." he noticed, summoning his sword directly into his hands as Alex grabbed Scarlet tightly by the hand running behind him,
"What else is here ?"
"I think it's a sercin."
"A sercin! the shapeshifting beast?! that's impossible they are extinct. Like no one has ever....."
"Oh god just listen," Jack interrupted her muttering, "If things go out of hand I want you to run away immediately, we can't let anyone get their hands on you."
Scarlett nodded her head to show she had understood.
"Okay, let's do this." Alex was now fearless in her eyes. she was always prepared to face anything that comes in her way.
She summoned the flaming bow but this time it looked different maybe because she hadn't consumed any magic yet it was blazing with angry flames that burned so bright Scarlet couldn't look any longer.
The three of them locked each other's backs as hissing sounds began to grow from the silence and by the sound of its movements it sounded to be big. Alex took down her light spell and they all prepared to attack.
Jack then forwarded to the further and darker side of the church where he had the most sound earlier. His grip on the sword was tight and firm and was ready to swing it at any time once he sighted the beast,
"Show yourself....."Jack shouted and his voice echoed back. he was still looking around when he suddenly took a violent hit that sent him flying into a concrete wall. he had been smacked by what looked like A grey Scaled tail.
Alex and Scarlet moved back in fear as the monster slithered its way into the moonlight, turning out to be the largest snake they had ever seen. It was about twenty feet long with grey cat-like eyes and two monster size fangs fixed within its mouth.
It lifted its head in the air and struck directly at Alex and Scarlet. But Alex made a shield around them bouncing the snake's attack and throwing it across the entire building.
Scarlet was fascinated by Alex's defense spell that it could even counter an attack as strong as that.
Before Scarlet could think it was done the snake then started to vibrate its scales and a high-pitched sound started to come from it, the building began to shake rapidly like it was vibrating on its own. The defense shield around shattered like glass into multiple pieces and the noise got to their ears.
For Scarlet, it didn't affect her but for Alex, she was screaming trying to cover her ears from high-pitched sound as blood began to flow from her eyes and ears.
Scarlet grabbed Alex in her arms, she didn't know what to do with the little magical knowledge. Her world felt crowded yet she knew she could make it larger if she could use the power of Chaos.
But how??
Now Alex was in pain because of her decision. the snake attacked one more time but Jack jumped in between, swinging his sword with so much energy almost about to strike it but it changed to a kaleidoscope of butterflies all swarming around him.
Jack tried to swing his sword but they were too many to hit directly they began to scratch him and bite him.
Scarlet laid Alex down to go and help Jack before he was breakfast for the Killer butterflies,
"Jack," she yelped, and without thinking, she ran towards him.
"Duck," she warned him, forming a fire spell from her hands and shooting the hot blaze directly at the butterflies setting most of them on fire and half of the church.
Jack fell onto the floor facing up and breathing heavily trying to cool down from the heat that he had just dodged.
But that wasn't the end of it. The remaining butterflies began reforming themselves into a big brown grizzly bear the same size as the snake but its face was partially burnt.
It roared majestically with great anger and charged directly for Scarlet who in a second sliced its head off without any hesitation.
Jack looked at her in shock, he had never seen such sportsmanship. she had materialized a sword from thin air without any practice. But what gave him the scare was the look on Scarlet's face it was cold her eyes were red and the creature's blood dripped from the sword.
She looked at the monster's head which was still alive, "Where did you come from?" she asked, glaring at it with. a murderous intent.
"Your,.....your....her....your..... chaos," it said, staring in her painful gaze, it could feel itself burn from just gazing.
"I came from Anubis by the far side of the worlds they told us that if we have the power of chaos we can do anything." it's was breaking into bits due to fear for what the witch would do to him.
"Who told you"
"They were soldiers humans in fact who said they all work for someone called the master. They.....they gave us keys that help us create holes between worlds." It said,
"The master. Okay, then who sealed you in here?"
"A tiny human with a spell book, he wreaked of Chaos magic and was incredibly strong that's all remember I swear." It cried,
"Thanks, now burn in hell." she then tilted her fingers and set the head on fire till it was nothing but black crisp.
Jack was now scared of her because this was the scariest she had ever been,
"We move in the morning when Alex is better," she suggested,
"Yeah, Sure" he replied looking at her with great fear.
She was illuminating a great deal of darkness he has never felt in his entire life the look on her face was cold and rageful was this Chaos' power or Scarlet? he couldn't tell but one thing for sure the person in front of him wasn't Scarlet.
