Scarlet was now facing Mr. Hayward the head of the school.
She didn't know why, but she didn't feel as uncomfortable as she was when she first appeared at the office that day. Maybe it was the air or the sight that made her feel like this.
"Should we start Miss Raymond?" He asked in a calm and pleasant voice.
"Oh, yes, Ummm... Yeah, I chose Bolton University because…" Scarlet rushed to talk because she was nervous about all this.
"Stop right there miss I haven't asked anything yet." He said.
Scarlet finally caught up and realized that Mr. Hayward was right, he hadn't yet even asked a single question but she was already blurting out the speech she had prepared the night before.
"Oh..my...god am so sorry it's just that am so nervous and this is my first interview well not technically the first, but the first in a long time, and...."
Mr. Hayward snickered at her anxiety, "It's okay. Now if you let me, may I ask the first question?"
His face was so calm and something about him made Scarlet feel so safe yet at the same time doubtful of his intentions, like a tingling warning in her mind telling her not to trust him.
"Yes, please." she sighed and prepared for the questions.
"When did you first pick interest in magic? Because for a first try that was pretty outstanding magic you did back there," he asked facing her.
Scarlet was surprised to hear that as the first question.
"Well, my aunt could do magic and she was part of the police force when growing up," she answered, "I was amazed by the fact that she could do spells that could make fire and wind out of thin air, so I…..picked interest and watched some tutorials, took extra classes where I learned about the theory side of magic."
"Remarkable Miss Raymond." Mr. Hayward cheered, "You mean you've never done magic by hand before?"
"No, I've never." Scarlet was happy he was impressed by her small developments.
"Now, for my next question. Why Bolton?"
Scarlet looked at Mr. Hayward, who was now looking at her like he was expecting her to say something very phenomenal.
"Well, I am looking for something, and the only way I can get it is if I study at this university," she said.
Mr. Hayward gave off a soft grin after being Impressed by the girl's knowledge and determination but mainly that magic she had just pulled off, the rest about the girl remained a mystery to him. Hayward couldn't be stopped. He was a curious man who demanded answers for anything that couldn't be explained.
"I won't ask more, but if you join Bolton you must take magic as a side course and I would be your guide, Miss Scarlet,"
She was shocked that an administrator was generally Interested in her. Though there was one problem.
"But I can't afford magic classes," She hesitated
"Then you have a scholarship in the magic division," he said,
Scarlet couldn't believe what was happening at the moment. The main reason she couldn't study magic was that her aunt wasn't ready to pay for magic studies.
"Do you agree with my terms." he reached out his hand and Scarlet grabbed it with so much energy and willingness.
"Yes, thank you so much, Sir, I won't let you down," she said,
"I know you won't. I sense great power within you Scarlet we shouldn't put that to waste."
With those final words, Hayward turned back and teleported back to his seat.
One of the women stood from her seat and without moving any further she addressed her,
"Thank you so much for your attendance. You will receive a letter confirming your administration to the university in the meantime wait for the feedback thank you. Magic classes will start next week on Monday, you will receive your dimensional key a short time from now."
Scarlet was surprised that that was all they had to say and why was it only him who spoke with her, but maybe that was the system here so she didn't need to overthink it.
"You're welcome, and again thank you." Scarlet bowed as a sign of respect then gradually head for a door that was the exit.
"Oh...….. And please." The same woman was now in front of her.
Scarlet was frightened by her sudden appearance and noticed she wasn't human she looked young with white skin with deep blue eyes, her ears were pointed and resembled those of elves in the storybooks she used to read about as a kid.
"Please leave your paperwork at the secretary's office, hope you know the way." said the woman while opening the door for her.
"Okay."

Later that day
Scarlet walked into the lobby lazily heading straight for the counter, she was tired and it had been a long day.
"President Walker has announced that all magical individuals should use magic responsibly and those who don't will be punished by the law. Well, this has occurred due to the recent increase in terrorist activities within the tri-state area, each of which is believed to be connected to the prophecy of the awakening."
She heard from the doorman's radio that played almost every evening when he was around.
"Good evening Bob," she called out as she lay her head on the cold marble of a counter.
"I told you to stop sounding so old when calling an old man like me.". A tall, thin Asian old man appeared from the back, walking so slow you could think he wouldn't reach the destination his hair had turned from gray and was almost white, his face wrinkled and his skin looked like it was to fall off any time soon. He was the doorman of the building and some called him the protector...he had been in this building for seventy years and more and Had been one of Scarlet's guardians ever since her parents passed away.
"Hey, bob."
" Hey Kiddo, how was your day? I heard you had gone for an interview. How did it go? Was it good or that?" Bob spoke slowly because he had extremely aged. Scarlet couldn't even imagine how old he was.
"Well, I would say I crushed the interview, but I rather say aced it." She said it's so ample energy.
"That's great kiddo, your aunt is going to be proud when she hears the news," he said
"Speaking of her, where is she? She hasn't called or texted me for hours, is anything wrong? " she questioned the doorman anxiously.
"Wait, You didn't hear what happened." The old man looked shocked by her question, but who could he blame it had been a long day for her.
"Well, it's all over the news that terrorists attacked City Hall today evening. They were all even strong enough to kill thirteen officers as I heard."
"Thirteen are you sure." Scarlet was now worried.
"Yes, so they had to call in the special force and all officers who were close enough." He concluded.
Scarlet felt uneasy about the situation. Yes, she knew her Aunt wouldn't go down without a fight, but thirteen was an alarming number. Seriously thirteen! She thought still wondering how something like that was possible since the police force only had strong magic channelers.
"Hope she's okay after this."
"Don't you worry kiddo, Miranda is so powerful she can't go down that easily." he tried to bring up her spirits.
"Okay," she nodded confidently. "Am going upstairs now, am very tired." She said to the old man.
"Okay, kiddo Goodnight."
"Good night, Bob." she quickly ran upstairs and reached for her phone and searched through the contact list, and dialed
On picking up, "Hey Jack, we need to talk."
"Hello…. This is jack and I can't answer your call now. Please leave a message." It was directed to voice mail, she hung up and sighed
"Where the hell are you now?" She asked herself still staring at the phone. Then hang up heading straight for her room
Meanwhile.....
Jack Randal Kay was dragging himself down a dark alley. His shirt was stained with blood from an open wound in his stomach. He stopped and pushed himself to lean against a wall trying to stop the heavy panting, it's like he had been running and was finally exhausted, his eyes were both bloody, and were bleeding from his scalp. It looked like he had taken a tough beating.
In his hand, he was carrying a silver sword like the one knights used in wars during the middle ages. the blade was oozing with green what looked like green mucus which was troll blood. Jack stabilized his breathing and then looked around to see if he was being followed and by the sounds of it, he was "Shit, why did I have to come here." he cursed putting pressure on the stomach wound to stop the bleeding.
He heard the footsteps of the giant creature as it approached. Jack stood up as soon as the ground shaking intensified, he put a tight grip on his sword and held the position till he could finally see it. The creature was at least a ten-foot ogre heading directly at him its eyes filled with bloodlust and emitting rage from its eyes, its body green and clawed hands that could crush his entire body in an instant.
It hit through the alley, making itself room to move through the small space. YOU'RE DEAD HERO said angrily. Jack observed its feet as they were breaking through the tarmac street with each step. He stopped and began to study it and maybe picture out its Achilles heel. It stomped closer and closer, but all he did was keep his concentration and courage in check. Until it was the right time to strike, he had to hold back for a few seconds.
It roared and charged directly towards him throwing the first blow that landed directly though he tried to block it by putting his sword in the way like a shield but ended up throwing him to the wall at the very end of the alley.
"such strength."--------he wondered----- "hope I know what am doing."
It charged again, this time it was charged with a magical attack. Jack got back on balance fast due to his quick reaction, he needed to fight quickly or he would die from the wounds he had already incurred. He raised his right arm straight facing the beast and reached for the lanes, he felt the sensation of the power he immediately directed his arm and made it take the form of fire in his hand. He only had one shot at this so he had to do it right. It came closer to him and he reacted by blasting the beast with hell-like flames
"Endless flames, death curse," is what he called the spell.
It cried out In pain trying to resist the pain the flames were causing. It was the hottest thing it had ever felt, but it could do nothing except burn to a crisp.
"You can't beat me even if you tried," he yelled at the beast that was now on its knees.
"YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR PLAYING WITH HERO" it spoke painfully, "YOU'RE JUST A PAWN IN A BIG BOLD GAME OF CHESS."
It looked at him with murderous intent, then roared so loud that the walls of the alley were shook-like there was a mini earthquake. Its body, then turned to a black crisp each time it tried to approach him.
Jack kept on staring at the red flames that had come from his hands, they were still burning even though the victim was dead and a crisp. "I should avoid using this power it's too dangerous." he grabbed his sword that he had dropped after hitting the wall and disappeared into thin air.
