Chapter 14 - Voltei

"I am not sure about the war because I lost most of memory of the fight so I'll tell you what I remember kid!" he said running faster

"Could you walk?" I said struggling to keep up with him. A wierd king he was. He turned back and stopped. "I'll tell you when the night rises" he said switching tones. I nodded and kept walking. We travelled through the forest and reached another river. The moon was rising and I set out a tent which could barely fit both of us. "Now then, I shall tell you about the night of the wooden horse".

"First, it started with the contest of beauty at a wedding, according to Paris, was selected to choose the goddess who'd get the golden apple thrown by Eris" he paused to eat the rabbit food, "The goddess' promised him great things I couldn't remember but he ended up choosing to marry Heres, the world's most beautiful woman, that's all I'll tell you for now, I'll continue tomorrow night". he said going back into the tent. I finished my food then went back into the tent.

The next day came and we set out to Ithaca. I went went on a hunt for a bit and had three more pieces of rabbit meat which was enough for a day because now there was two of us. "Hey Odysseus, you're gonna have to help me hunt because I can't provide for both of us" I said handing him the club Alycon gave me. "Keep it" I said crouching. There was a deer standing there. Last time I'd gotten kicked and survived relatively unharmed but this was an adult so I'd at least get a broken ribcage and probably die because we had no first aid. I crept up on it from behind and stabbed it's leg. As it screamed and I prepared to dodge, Odysseus slammed his club against it's head. The deer collapsed and I stabbed it until it bled out. We dragged it back to our camp. I cut it up so we could carry it and cooked it. We set out and reached a smoother part. "I feel like I've seen this before, we must be near Ithaca!" he said rolling down the hill. It reminded me of when me and Han did that but, that guy left me for a girl he'd known for less than a year.

Night came and we rested near the field. I ate some of the deer's meat and waited for Odysseus to start telling me the story of the Trojan war. "The first nine years were full of sieges against Troy but the wall protected them, they kidnapped women but in turn Apollo sent a plague that destroyed Achaean warriors. Agamemnon the kidnapper decided to take another woman which angered Achilles, because of that, he kidnapped Chryseis which made Achilles withdraw him and his troops, But when Patroclus asked Achilles his armour however Apollo once again interfered and shattered Patroclus' spear and armour where he was then killed by Hector" he got up and wiped his mouth, "That's it for today".

The fourth day came and we set out again. We had completed half of our journey and now had three to four days left until we reached there. We didn't have to go hunting because we still had some of the deer meat left. We entered a mountainous area where we saw a mountain cat. "Odysseus don't go near it" I said walking around it.

"I know I know, I have a brain" he said running past me. We went to the edge and through the slight mist, we could see the country or as Odysseus called it, the kingdom of Ithaca. We went down and found a cave. "Let's stop here".

"Now I'll tell you about the main events of the war, Achilles and Hector met and he killed Hector, he tied Achilles onto his carriage and took him back to his camp, in return, Apollo, who was on the side of the Trojans, shot Achilles in the space between the leg and foot. Now onto the main attack. I came up with the Trojan horse and pretended to give up and leave a prize, the horse. Deep into the night as they celebrated, we got out and rampaged through the city of Troy but because of this, the Gods destroyed our boats which is why I'm here" he said.

"Then why did you fight in the war?"

"I forgot" he said going back into the tent.

The next day came and we had to hunt. We found a few goats and managed to kill two which would last for about two days which could be enough to last for the rest of the journey. We walked down the mountain and entered another forest. "What's wrong with this continent, yellow water, forest and mountains, random flat areas?" I said looking around.

"I don't know, I've never been outside this continent apart from during the war" he said. It would be relatable if I remembered my past. Suddenly I heard a loud thud. I turned back and saw a big giant. "Shit, how the hell did you find me!" said Odysseus running away. I turned back and sprinted through the forest. I turned back and the trees were curved as if they were making space for the beast. In front there was a rock. We climbed over and beyond it there was a waterfall. Odysseus held me then jumped off. He grabbed on to a branch sticking out and nearly ripped it off. The stone cyclops kept running and fell into the water where it burst into rubble. "What the hell is that!" I shouted. "It's a cyclops, I killed one when I was returning from the Trojan war and now they're after me".

"Wow, good job!" I shouted through the water.

"Yea I know, I'm sorry but we should be asking a different question, how're we gonna get down?".
