Xue Tian had left the house, and it was only Wen Xiang and Summer Xue in the dining room. The little girl continued eating her food, but the man kept staring at the girl without any intention to enjoy his food.
"What is 'kerupuk'?" He suddenly uttered a question that broke the silence, and Summer halted her movement as she looked up at the man.
"You don't know what 'kerupuk' is, Brother Xiang?" The girl innocently questioned the man instead of answering, and the man shook his head in response. Seeing the nonverbal answer, the girl then explained, "Kerupuk is a food that's so crunchy, Brother. When you eat it, it will bring a sound like 'kres kres' that is quite noisy!"
Wen Xiang frowned as he listened to the girl explaining about the thing named 'kerupuk.'
'That thing named 'kerupuk' doesn't sound special, so why did that weirdo leave in a hurry just to buy that?' Wen Xiang couldn't help but the question in his heart.
Summer Xue tilted her head when she saw the man's strange expression. "What's wrong, Brother Xiang?" She asked again curiously. "Kerupuk indeed brings a noisy sound, but my brother can't eat any food if there's no 'kerupuk' on the table. That's why he left us to buy it just now."
Another explanation from the little girl, and Wen Xiang thought that the man named Xue Tian was indeed a weirdo. 'Will he die if he eats without 'kerupuk'? That's nonsense.'
Wen Xiang shook his head helplessly, but then he could hear some hurried footsteps, and the next thing he saw was Xue Tian who returned to the dining room with a grin plastered on his face.
"I'm sorry for making you wait," the pinkette spoke as he sat down next to Wen Xiang again. "The 'kerupuk' is here, so we can continue eating," he added as he opened the plastic bag that he brought from outside.
Wen Xiang focused his eyes on the plastic bag because he was curious about 'kerupuk,' and after he managed to see what kind of food it was, he fell speechless. Nothing looked special with it, and it just looked like some crackers in white color.
He glimpsed at Xue Tian, and the man happily ate his food along with that thing named 'kerupuk.'
Summer Xue was right. When Xue Tian bit the thing with his teeth, the 'kres kres' sound could be heard in the dining room. Indeed, the food was too noisy.
Sensing that someone was staring at him, Xue Tian stopped munching and turned to the side. With his mouth full of food, he spoke to the other man, "Hwae wu hihdn it?"
The words coming out of the thin lips were not clear, and Wen Xiang frowned at the pinkette. He couldn't catch the question at all.
"My brother asked 'why you didn't eat,' Brother Xiang," Summer Xue suddenly came to the rescue just like a translator.
Wen Xiang turned to the girl and stared at her in awe. The little girl even had the ability to become a translator of stupid language made by the munching rabbit.
Xue Tian finally swallowed the food and grabbed a glass of water in front of him. He then sipped the water and put down the glass on the table again.
"If you don't like this food, we can order takeouts. I won't let my guest starve in my house," Xue Tian spoke in a worried tone as he noticed that Wen Xiang's plate was still full.
He didn't know that Wen Xiang was just confused by his strange attitude.
"It's okay. This food is not bad, so I will eat it," Wen Xiang replied before started digging into his food once again.
Xue Tian smiled and offered the 'kerupuk' for the guest, but the said guest just replied with 'I'm fine.'
Wen Xiang actually didn't like the noisy atmosphere, so eating the noisy food would only add to the disturbance in the room.
In the end, the three people continued eating in silence, and the only sound that could be heard was the sound coming from the 'kerupuk.'
Minutes passed, and the three people finally finished eating. It was the first time Wen Xiang ate the food named 'sayur lodeh,' but he managed to empty his plate. Probably he was too hungry.
"My dear Summer, you will go to school tomorrow, right? Have you finished your homework? If not, you can ask me or maybe Brother Xiang to help you."
Wen Xiang was drinking his water, and he choked when he heard Xue Tian's words. The latter looked panicked and immediately raised his hand to rub the taller man's back.
"Be careful. It's not like I will snatch the glass away from you," the pinkette scolded him without knowing that he was just shocked by his words just now.
Xue Tian suggested Summer Xue ask for help from Wen Xiang, but Wen Xiang was just an uneducated man who never went to school. He could read and write just fine, but he wouldn't be able to help the child with her homework. Even if it was just an elementary student's homework, he was still not sure he would be able to help the girl.
"Can you show me the room to rest? I'm tired, and I want to take a nap," Wen Xiang chose to run away before his cover was uncovered by the siblings.
The Xue siblings looked confused when they heard the request, but then the older Xue finally got up from his seat and smiled at his guest.
"Sure, I will show the room to you so you can have some rest. Let's go."
