Naomi's POV
I stared at Finn Grey. He was a very handsome man. I wondered exactly how old he was since he didn't look too much older than I was. But it is difficult to tell just by looking at someone. "So are you planning to explain to me what's going on, or will I need to call Milo and ask him? Maybe I should tell him what I caught you doing with his supposed girlfriend," he asks both of us.
I wasn't sure what to say, so I was counting on Sam to give me the answer. So I only glanced up at his face with worry in my eyes. "What's happening is that you walked in on something that shouldn't have happened, Sam, I'll admit that," Sam says looking down at me with furrowed brows. "You see, I have a crush on Naomi here and Milo asked me to bring her shopping. After I saw her walk out of the dressing room in that, I couldn't help myself and I feel terrible."
Finn interrupts me before I can say anything. "That sounds pretty honest and convincing," he says, smiling at me.
"That's because it's honest. That's exactly what happened here and I feel terrible. I was the only one he trusted with her and I just betrayed that trust." I saw regret in his eyes as he glanced down towards the floor because he was caught doing it.
"Well Sam, I won't say anything to Milo. But I followed you here because my dad told me to keep an eye on her. I hope to convince you to step down and keep Milo at arm's length. I need to convince him to marry my sister and I hope that both of you can help me with that. It is best for everyone that the two gangs merge and become one big gang. That way Sam, you can have the girl you want badly, and Milo will have Suzie, no matter what happens. It's a win-win." He smiled back at the two of us as if he was so proud of himself for coming up with this plan.
Before I stopped myself, "Maybe we can. I will see what I can do to help you out." I replied with a friendly smile in his direction. The two guys stared at me in shock. Sam's smile made me believe he had serious hopes of claiming me for himself. I didn't have the heart to tell him right then that I just wanted to be with my boyfriend Jax, not him.
"Well, she's right, let's see what we can do. Maybe we can work on him together. But what are you doing here?" He gritted his teeth and grumbled at Finn. I could tell Sam hated this guy.
"Well, my dad is at Milo's right now, talking to him. He told me to follow you guys when he saw you leaving so early this morning. He wanted to know why he was sending you guys off like that knowing we would be stopping by early today. The only thing I saw you guys doing was shopping, and then I caught your kiss. But really, that's all you guys are doing is shopping for clothes?" he asks us folding his arms across his chest.
"Yep, he actually ordered me to get her a whole new wardrobe full of clothes. She needs to look the part you know." he smiles brightly at him.
"Sam?" I snap and glare up at him.
"Wait... you look the part?" Finn asked, looking at me in a suspicious manner.
I stare back at him, gulping air, unsure of what to say before Sam clears his throat. "He is only pretending to be with her because he knows it's going to upset you guys. She is just his maid Finn, that's all. She was actually traded to repay the loan he made her. The maid you bought from him is actually her mother. Could she see her, by chance?" he asked.
"Wait a minute, is Emily Clark your mother?"
"Yes, she is!"
"You are Naomi Clark?" he choked out. He sounded so surprised and I wondered why he was so shocked to learn who I was.
"I am..." I started before he interrupted me.
"Your mother just bargained with you. You are mine!" he shouted at me, and I saw a smile creep across his face. He seemed so happy.
"What?" was all I could reply to him. I didn't know what else to say.
"Wait, Emily bargained with you for what?" Sam demands of him, pushing me behind him as if he wanted to protect me, again.
"She wanted help with her divorce, and to get her daughters away from her ex," Finn said through a million-watt smile.
"Wait, she's divorcing Naomi's father?" Sam looked surprised.
"Yeah, well she has kind of fallen in love with someone else and wants to marry him. She wants to save her daughters from suffering her fate, and she won't be too pleased to learn that Naomi has already suffered it," he explains.
"Wait a minute... my mother bargained my life to save my sister's?" I blinked in surprise.
"She kind of did, but I am not a bad guy, Naomi; I will treat you well. Now that I know exactly who you are and that you are my fiance, I will be taking you home with me," he says reaching out towards me, only to have his hand swatted away by Sam who looked pretty pissed he even attempted it.
"Not so fast Romeo, she belongs to Milo. Remember, she will come back to us once we finish our shopping. We just have one more store to go, and that's Famous Footwear." Sam shouts at him.
"Fine, I will follow you because I won't let her out of my sight now," Finn announces.
"Fine, I can see shaking you now would be difficult, but we need to get to the bottom of this anyway." Sam growls, fists clenched together on the side.
I see Finn grimace before saying, "Just don't kiss my fiancee anymore!" he snaps at Sam with furrowed brows and anger on his face.
I saw his eyes get darker, saw him clench his fists together at his side, and I knew he wanted to hit him, but instead, he raised his voice. "She is not your fiancee!" I backed away, scared they were going to start fighting.
"Yes, she is!" Finn snapped back at him, and I could see the anger in his eyes as they grew progressively more threatening. It didn't stop me from stepping in between the two guys.
"I can assure you that I'm not yours Finn!" I proclaimed in his face. "Just as I can assure Sam here that I'm not his or his boss's girl. I am my own woman. No one owns me unless I allow them to, and that's final!" I raise my voice, placing my hands on my hips.
I could see the challenge in his eyes, though he was not very happy with me. I didn't care what he would say to me now.
"Oh and I can assure you Missy that you are indeed my fiancee and that I fully intend to take you home today. I am not willing to let you go. Your mom signed a legally binding contract with my dad and swore your hand to mine in marriage, so you will be my wife!" he bellowed back at me. I was surprised to see Sam's gigantic form blocking me from him.
"Leave her alone, she is Milo's as far as I am concerned." he snaps, hands clenched ready to punch at any moment.
Afterward, we made our way to the shoe store in silence. It was obvious where all of our minds were. Who did I belong to? Was I meant to have to leave and be Finn's wife as my mother apparently wanted, and was Milo going to marry Suzie, making the two gangs one? I couldn't predict what would happen next, and that scared me more than anything else. I sat on the stool and tried on several different pairs of shoes, some boots, high heels, pumps, and sandals. Once we decided that we had enough different kinds and styles, we proceeded to the checkout counter and made our purchases. After that, we walked out the doors of the mall and Sam looked over at Finn. "Where did you park Ass-hole?" he scoffed.
"Over there." Finn pointed excitedly at a luxurious sports car. How rich was this guy? He lived in a gorgeous mansion and drove that car. Wow. Wow, and to think he wanted to marry me.
Sam glances in the direction of his car, and I watch as he looks back at me, tight-lipped and serious. Come, Naomi, I will take you home." He says as he finishes loading our bags into the back of the SUV. He walked around to the passenger's side and grabbed my wrist tightly. He dragged me along as he opened the door and helped me into the truck, closing the door behind him as he turned and addressed Finn. I watched Finn's face change from amused to angry as I saw Sam run around the truck, jump in, start it up, and speed off. It seemed like he was trying to lose him, as he sped along down the road.
"I'm sorry about the kiss Naomi. I just lost control of myself once I saw you in that thing. I'll tell Milo about it when we get back so that he can't use that against me." Sam flashes me with his pearly whites.
I turn to look at him. "You might want to call Milo right now, because who knows what Finn is doing or who he is talking to in that car of his?" I swallow hard.
"You know what, you've got a point there!" I watch as he pulls out his phone from the dashboard and dials a number, connecting it through the speakers of the car so that I could hear. "I hope he understands that it was an accident." I sat listening to the phone ringing, and that made me feel so uneasy, the more it rang and Milo didn't answer.
Then I heard a low deep voice say, "Hello Sam."
"Oh hi, boss... is everything okay?" Sam asked, sounding uncertain at the time.
"Oh, you mean to ask if I'm okay after learning that I have to give Naomi over to the Greys tonight? No, Sam, I'm not okay! I'm angry right now... Mr. Grey has just paid me the money that her father owed me for her and showed me the contract they signed, which actually pre-dated my offer to her. Meaning... that she's never been mine. She will go home with him today and I cannot stop it." I heard the anger in his tone, the intensity so far beyond what he normally expresses.
"Wait... are you serious Milo? I'm really Finn's fiancee?" I gasp.
"Unfortunately, dear, that's true... Tom even sent me an extra amount to cover the clothing costs incurred by sending you guys to the mall. Even more insulting is that now he's demanding that I accept Suzie; she's already moving into a guest room as we speak." He sounded so defeated.
"You mean if she doesn't make it home, I can lose Finn, that is if you want me to. Tell me what you want me to do?" Sam asked me. I stare at him. I was shocked that he even suggested such a thing.
Over the speakers, I heard a long sigh, "You better bring her home, Sam, because if anything happens to her, I'll be in trouble." He grumbled, sounding upset.
"Yes, boss."
Sam slams his hand on the dash as he hangs up the phone, making me jump. I glanced at him. He looked so angry. Why was he so upset? "Sam, are you okay?" I asked him softly.
"I'm fine... don't worry about me!" he snaps. I could feel his frustration about the whole thing because I wasn't really sure how to react to this news.
"Sam, it's okay, you can tell me! What's wrong?" I ask.
"I'm not happy about you having to go with that asshole. Damn, I hate this. He may be your contractual fiancee, but he'll never be your husband if I have anything to do with this." He raises his voice at me, and I notice him clenching his fist at his side as he continues on the road. I glance back out the window to see trees and buildings whizzing by.
"What does that mean?"
"It means war, and I am prepared to win no matter who I have to face in this fight!" he roared with fire in his eyes. I saw him pull into a gas station and watched as he climbs out and walks inside to pay for the gas.
