"If I do her laundry right, she beats me. Suppose I cook something she does not like. She makes me sleep outside after beating me. I can't do it anymore. I am sorry I am an outcast." Nora said in the midst of her sobs, and the memories of the way her sister tortured her came rushing into her mind fresh making her sobs become hysterical.
The thought of Sandra beating up Nora made Cyrene so mad that she did not realize that she had been squeezing the poor girl so had until Nora started to flinch
"I am so sorry I didn't mean to." She apologized furiously to Nora, rubbing her.
But when Nora flinched again, she immediately knew that something was wrong she slowly lifted the little girl's shirt to find a very angry purple bruise on her ribs.
"My sister is going to kill me when she finds out that I let someone else know about the bruises," Nora said, pulling her shirt down her fragile body.
