"Son, you will not get you to mate back by killing all the prisoners in this dungeon who knows some. so of them may be innocent and you killed that will only cause dispute in the pack, and the member of the pack will not see you as their leader, but as their master, they will start fearing you and that's not the alpha anyone wants to be. The packs need you, and you have to bury your wife and all, and she deserves a decent burial. You cannot give her a decent burial if you are this angry. You need to calm down." Merlyn tried to reason with her son, but he was not having any of that.
"Don't tell me to calm down. There is no one here who has lost their mate. So you have no right to tell me to calm down. I am the reason she was hurt in the first place. It was my fault," Darrell asked as he threw his fist to the wall above his mother's head, scaring her never had he ever threatened his mother.
Realizing what he had done, he regretted it. He should have known better than trying to stand up against his mother, who was a 545 years old midnight wolf.
His mother's eyes turned blue, and she kicked him in the stomach, throwing him out of the dungeon to the backyard, where she followed him.
"You might be an alpha, but remember am a midnight wolf also and am way older than you, so don't you ever try again to threaten me again I am your mother, and I have the right to tell you what I think is good for you, and as the acting Luna, I have to do what I think is best for the pack. Now get your sorry ass up go change because I need you to meet your father and me in the dining room so that you will have dinner with your pack, and you better not make me repeat myself." Meryl commanded his son in a strict voice.
Meryl left the confused son on the ground and left going back to wait for him in the dining area where the rest of the pack was waiting for the alpha so they could start eating.
The guards and Clive were left dumbfounded. They had never seen the former Luna in action, and Clive silently to himself never to make her angry.
"Man, you need to get your shit together. You don't want to be on your mother's wrong side. Isabella will make sure you have everything you need prepared, so I think you should get up and go shower because you look like hell right now." Clive advises his best friend as he helps out of the ruin of a once-strong dungeon wall.
Darrell accepted the help of his friend and told him to organize the reconstruction of the destruction. Meanwhile, the other prisoners were transferred to the dungeon that the hunters were being held.
Darrell went to his room, had a shower, and wore the white shirt and the navy blue suit that had been prepared by one of the royal maids.
After that, he went to the dining. He joined his parents, Clive, Isabella, and their parents on the high table that was only for the royals. When he entered the room was pin-drop silence.
By now, everyone knew that Luna was dead they had also heard of what he had done in the dungeon, for rumors always spread fast like the wildfire.
You could see people looking between his mother and him.
Upon reaching the high table, one of the royal maids pulled the chair, which he took and thanked by a simple nod. Food was presented before him he tasted, and by a wave of his hand, he let the others proceed with their meal.
During the whole dinner time, no one spoke. You could see the tension in the room by a knife. After everyone was through with the dinner, Darrell stood to give a speech.
"As you all know by now that I have lost my mate, your Luna, after she was attacked by a hunter earlier this month. I would like to inform you that her burial will be tomorrow. We will do the royal mourning procedure starting now. I also would like to apologize for my reckless behavior earlier. I want to assure you that you don't have to fear me." Darrell explained himself to his pack.
After he was through, everyone went to the front yard that was the meeting place before the usual runs.
