"Why is he walking towards our table?" Kat panicked.
"How am I suppose to know?" Lauren said under her breath.
"We've screwed this mission from the very start of the day! Mia is going to yell at us for this. I'll suggest it's best one of us takes the blame for this." Kat reasoned, visibly shaking.
Simi chuckled in utter disbelief.
"Really? That's the only play we have here?" Simi asked.
"What do you expect me to say? We are not suppose to have any communication whatsoever with the prince and we are about to get our team kicked off this mission!" Kat said, hardly breathing.
Simi could see how worried Kat was, she sighed.
"Code 3." Lauren offered.
Before Kat could process what happened, Simi, Lauren and Naomi slid out of their seats, heading out of the cafeteria.
"Those slimy snakes!" Kat muttered.
"Pardon?" Mark asked, staring at her with a glint in his eyes.
"Uhm?" Kat asked.
Mark glanced over his shoulder, eyes on Naomi who was just walking out of the cafeteria.
"They seem to be in a hurry. Classes aren't starting anytime soon." Mark reasoned as he settled on the seat opposite Kat's.
"Well, we made a bet and I lost. And now I'mhere." Kat chuckled nervously.
"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable." Mark apologised.
"It's fine." She lied.
It was anything but fine.
"I was hoping I would get to meet the girls my brothers were so worked up about." Mark said with a shrug.
"Your brothers were…talking about us?" Kat asked, glancing from the princes table to Mark.
"Yeah. The little stunt you girls pulled, it got everyone's attention and half the school is talking about the girls who challenged the quads." Mark chuckled
"Walking past you isn't a challenge. We weren't about to pull a stop when you and your brothers weren't ready to." Kat reminded
Mark nodded.
"Fair point. I just dropped by to say hi. And give you a heads up. Things might get a bit rough around here from now on. Ryan isn't so happy about this." Mark winked at Kat.
"How could you say something so serious with a smile?" Kat asked, her voice shaking.
This is him telling her, that she and her teammates were likely to get bullied. And he's smiling about something so serious…
Who does that?
"It's no big deal. Everyone is likely going to, you know, make fun of you and things like that but you girls seem tough." Mark replied innocently.
"Of course. This isn't the first time someone is getting bullied for challenging you right? And it's fine by you as long as you aren't the one doing the bullying." Her fist clenched, eyes staring at him with rage.
"Unbelievable."
Kat picked up her things and walk straight out of the cafeteria.
She was right. It was infact, disgusting.
Mark heads back to his brothers, hiding the scrowl on his face with a smirk.
"Signed, sealed, delivered!" He said settling down on his seat.
