Simi felt all the muscles in her body relax and like all her worries were imaginary.
If only she could stay here all night. Unfortunately, she had a protective detail to keep an eye on.
As a student.
She stiffened as she felt a pair of eyes staring at her from a distance. She took a quick glance around her but there was no one in sight.
Strange.
She knew someone was watching her intensely but couldn't tell where the unsettling feeling was coming from.
Simi's gaze fell on a silhouette in the patio of the mansion for a castle.
Wait?
Could he... or she, see her? Simi remained still, studying the silhouette carefully.
It had to be a man.
He had his hands in his pocket, staring down at her with a piercing set of green eyes. Almost like he could tell what she was doing, he leaned back on the wall behind him.
She could swear she saw him smirk.
Simi felt her heart skip at the sight before her; it was her protective detail.
Ryan.
His hair was a shade of grey in the moonlight and his face was partially covered by the dark.
AND
He just stood there staring at her while a zillion things ran through her head.
They were not supposed to meet or speak to each other.
If that was the case JOHN should have thought of the possibilities of the princes getting curious about their new neighbors!
The only houses in this so called neighbourhood, is the castle and the mission house.
Something wasn't adding up.
What was John not telling them?
Simi decided to pretend she didn't notice him. She helped herself out of the pool, grabbed a towel on one of the chairs and hurried into the house only to bump into Kat.
Kat shrieked before Simi could place her hand over her mouth.
"You're scared. ME" Kat said, catching her breath.
"I'm sorry." Simi apologized.
"It's okay. What's up? You look like you were running away from something." Kat glanced behind Simi.
Nothing.
"I saw Ryan." Simi said, drying herself up as they made their way to the living area.
"What?! How?!" Kat asked.
"He's our next-door neighbor Kat. Are you that surprised?" Simi asked.
"A two-minute walk from here, kind of a neighbor. I think John mentioned it in the file." Kat reminded.
"Well, Prince Charming was leaning on the wall, staring down at me like some creep." Simi said.
"Are you sure he saw you?" Kat asked.
"Like you wouldn't know when someone is staring at you?" Simi asked.
"So….was he..hot?" Kat teased.
"Katrina!" Simi cautioned.
"Come on! We can at least admire them!" Kat defended.
Simi shrugged. Kat had a point.
"He's okay? I guess." Simi said, feeling feverish.
"How long were you in the water?" Kat asked
Simi smiled sheepishly.
"I'll be fine." She said.
"You told me to go to bed early Mum." Kat said
"Fine! I'm leaving." Simi heads toward her room. She really need that rest before theor day tomorrow.
****
"GET UP!!!" Kat yelled as she knocked on everyone's door. She walked into Simi's room and tried to shake the team leader out of her deep sleep.
Simi whined. "Hold on."
"Come on! We're going to be so late!" Kat said.
"I'm up you dimwit! Keep your bloody voice down!" Lauren yelled from her room.
"I'm GLAD you're up!" Kat yelled back.
She could hear Lauren grumbling and mumbling all the curses kniwn to mankind.
Simi sat up, eyes still drowsy and hair looking like a bird's nest.
"What's wrong?" Simi grumbled.
"What's wrong? We're going to be late for our first day at school!" Kat said.
Simi's eyes dart open in horror, this not the right way to start her day!
"Oh my…." Simi hurried out of bed straight into the bathroom.
"You have ten minutes to get out of that place!" Kat said, placing Simi's uniform on the bed.
"Hey." Lauren called, peeping into Simi's room.
"Good morning to you too!" Kat said smiling.
Lauren rolled her eyes. "Nothing is good about the morning, Katrina Cherry Thomas! Suck it up."
Kat looked utterly surprised by her words, she was only trying to be nice.
Lauren was about to leave when she noticed Kat's uniform and she looked, good.
Kat had her hair packed in two ponytails with two stray strands of her black hanging on either side of her face. She was wearing a school uniform which was a thigh-long grey pinafore, white long sleeved, black ankle socks, and a pair of cute flats.
"Why are you in a uniform?" Lauren asked.
"It's a private school and they have uniforms. I found mine in the walk-in closet with my name tag on it." Kat explained
"Now we're going to a school where everyone wears the same thing...gross," Lauren said.
"Shouldn't you be getting ready?" Kat asked.
"Tell Simi I need the password to the garage." Lauren said, rolling her eyes at Kat's puzzled expression.
"Just tell her Kat. And you look silly." Lauren took her to leave.
Simi showed up in the room later in a bathrobe, running a hairdryer and straightener through her brown hair.
She stared at Kat a bit confused.
"Why are you in uniform?" Simi asked.
"The school is privately owned?" Kat said.
"That explains everything." Simi replied with sarcasm.
"Just get ready. And Lauren wants you to give her the password to the car garage." Kat said.
"I will when we're ready to leave." Simi offered.
"Whatever. Just get ready already!" Kat whined.
She was excited to start up the day and Simi got that.
"Fine. Can I be excused?" Simi asked.
"I'll go get a few gadgets and please hurry up! I'm excited about today." Kat said with her eyes glittering in delight as she hurried off.
Simi got into her school uniform and took a look at herself in the mirror. She looked...small. Like a teen.
This would have beeen her life if she wasn't thrown into the world of espionage so early..
In all, she looked, pretty.
Her brown hair was now straightened out making her look more presentable.
She wasn't a fan of makeup.
None of the girls did unless it was deemed necessary.
"Let's do this!" Simi said, cheering herself up.
