Chapter 7 - Chapter 7:One Step Forward ?

Theo's POV:

We watched a couple of movies and had a couple of laughs. It was a new side of Alice I never saw before when her eyes lit up as she explained the movies and how her eyes lit up when her favourite parts came on but I do admit I did get a bit jealous when she said she was married to the Peter Parkers.

We both got tired and fell asleep.

I placed a blanket on her, not trusting myself to have enough strength in my legs to carry her upstairs or wanting to wake her up to go home.

Alice's POV:

I snuggled more into the soft sheets not wanting to wake up but knowing I had to. I opened my eyes my vision was still dark but no matter how much I blinked, my eyes wouldn't adjust and there would be no light.

Then I heard it.

A deep grunt next to me.

A deep grunt as if it was waking up.

Was he here, did he get me?

I need to go.

But it was like some invisible Weight was holding me down.

'I need to leave before he wakes up

I kept repeating the line in my head but my body wouldn't move as if it was paralyzed and the only mobility I had were my eyes and my ability to blink.

I felt him move sitting up, I quickly closed. trying to calm my breathing so he would think I was sleeping.

The lights came on and my eyes snapped open.

"Oh sorry didn't mean to wake you, do you sleep completely in the dark?"

I looked up to meet a pair of grey eyes instead of the expected brown ones. There stood a Theo Adonis with a face full of stubble wearing a wrinkling old shirt with a stupid grin on his face.

I released the breath I had been holding taking in a huge gulp of fresh air. As I panted as if I was running a marathon. The tension that locked my body in place left me with the air.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah Just not a fan of the dark" I tried to play off as if I wasn't having a panic attack a few seconds ago.

"Sorry I sleep better when it's completely dark, I assumed from the blackout curtains you did too."

"I also have a string of fairy lights in my room"

"Sorry are okay, you look extremely pale"

"No, I'm fine" I went to sit up but fell, luckily Theo caught me.

"I find that hard to believe"

"My legs fell asleep"

"Yeah and your body is experiencing an earthquake"

I looked up at my hand on his shoulder and it was trembling.

"Could I have a glass of water"

I pulled away from him, feeling my personal space invaded.

"Yeah, let's go to the kitchen."

We walked up the stairs out of the theatre to the kitchen, I walked behind him trying to keep up with the pace of his long legs as supposed to my short weak legs.

"Here you go" I placed the glass of water on the counter as I took a seat on the stool in front of it.

I gulped the glass down.

"Thanks," I said wiping the droplets that escaped from my chin.

"Anytime Alice"

An awkward silence fell on us and I stared down at the glass.

"Uh so last night was fun"

'Thanks for not bringing up that episode from earlier.

'Yeah it was, I got to watch a bunch of shows I always wanted to."

"Yeah we should do that again"

"Yeah we should"

Awkward Silence returns.

"I know you might get upset but are you okay from earlier"

'Seriously Theo'

"Yeah, I'm fine I just don't like waking up in dark places."

"Yeah, I'll remember that"

"Thanks"

"Do you want me to walk you home or something, don't want your legs to give out on you on the way"

"Yeah thanks"

"Do you want to wash your face or something before we go"

"No, I can do that at home."

"Just let me grab a pair of shoes"

He ran upstairs and returned a few minutes later and he walked me to my house in silence.

He stopped in my driveway.

"So this you"

"Yeah"

"I'll see you later?"

"You'll be seeing me tomorrow for the contract signing ceremony"

"Yeah, bye"

"Bye and thanks"

'For not asking too much

"Yeah, anytime neighbour" With that he smiled and jogged back home.

I walked into my hour and turned to lock the door but what greeted me in the mirror was terrifying.

"My face was all puffy and swollen and drool tracks were on my face. My hair was no longer in the acceptable bun looked like I had just been attacked by a bear. My clothes looked super wrinkly.

Theo woke up in the morning looking that good and that should be illegal.

I looked like I just battled a grizzly. I ran up the stairs wondering how in the hell Theo managed to look at me and not be terrified. It scared me with the way I looked right now.

I freed myself of the clothes and I took a nice hot bath, both to clean myself and calm my mind.
