Chereads / The Dark Stone / Chapter 15 - Lucian

Chapter 15 - Lucian

"Hi, Mayur. I finally got to see you."

He looked at me as he said that. I couldn't think of how to react.

'Does he know me?' I thought, but how can that be? The only ones who recognize me are Arya, Chester and the people in this orphanage.

"Oh! So you two are acquaintances. That's great." Grandma came forward and said. "Dear, I know you came to meet Arya, but she isn't here. Can you wait here for some time, she'll be back soon."

"No problem, Grandma. I can wait." The guy said and looked at me. "I'll have Mayur give me company. Isn't that right Mayur?"

"Huh?" I couldn't understand what was going on.

He walked towards me with that smile glued to his face. "Come, we have some things to talk about."

He walked past me without even looking back. What choice did I have, I followed him. He was headed to the room that was mine for the time being.

"Hey, why are you going there?" I asked

"Why? Isn't this your room for now?" He asked in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Who are you and how do you know me?" I asked.

No answer. He opened the door and signalled me to enter and closed the door after he stepped in.

"I'm Lucian. Glad to meet you."

He extended his hand towards me and I remembered how Chester reacted when one of his friend made the same gesture at school. I repeated what I saw. We shook hands and then, he sat on the office chair kept beside a computer table.

"You didn't answer my other question." I pointed.

He sucked his teeth and made an annoying looking face.

"You're quite restless. This won't help. You know that?" He then flashed a fake smile. "Well...how do I know you? Hmm...it's because...you see...actually, I can't tell you that yet. As much as I'd love to blow your mind up into bits, I can't afford to make him mad right now." He said.

"Him?" I repeated.

"Oh! Didn't Arya tell you?" He jumped up from his chair. His eyes gleamed with fun and sudden excitement.

I'll admit-I want to punch this guy. He's seriously getting on my nerves. I don't believe a word he says.

"Could you please leave? This is my room and I want some privacy." I said without minding any of his words.

"Are you not curious about me?" He looked at me, like I was some object. His gaze was quite unusual.

"I'm not. Now you may go." I lied. I was curious. Really curious. But for some reason, I found this guy way too repulsive. I can live with some unsolved questions in my mind, but not with this guy jumping around like a freakin' frog!

He looked one last time at me and moved towards the door. He was about to pull it open when the door swung open. I saw Arya standing there.

...

I felt much better after having some cold drink and a jumbo cheese burger. This was the only time of my day, when I'm free from worries. The only thing that bothers me is whether to have burger or pizza or both. I wish everyday could be like this.

I was fooling around here and there, trying to fish for some information about any place where Mayur could live. I found nothing.

'What is this? Shouldn't this country make some orphanages for adults too? It's so hard to find a place to live." I was whining the whole time.

Defeated, I decided to go back home. At least, there I can think of all this over a cup of coffee. I reached home.

"Arya, you're back? Good timing. Lucian has been waiting for you." Jon, one of the children in the orphanage, said.

'Who?' I thought.

"He's in Mayur's room, waiting for you." another kid said. They all were munching on sweets.

'Where did they get these? They look delicious' I thought and went towards Mayur's room. I opened the door and saw a boy standing at the door.

He had golden brown hair and sea green eyes. He had the features of a celebrity and could have easily passed for one, however, the way he carried himself was similar to a soldier. His deeply refined facial features made him look mature for his age. He looked well above twenty.

The moment he saw me, his face had a look which, even though it lasted just for a fraction of second, clearly showed just one emotion-longinging. He was quick to recover and before I knew it, he was a completely different person altogether.

He smiled and it was genuine.

"I came to see you."
