There were three levels of law Comprehension before the level of Heavenly Law.
The first level was Insight. This was the required comprehension stage for the Origin Refinement level. It was the initial threshold of law Comprehension, so once a cultivator reached this level, they would be able to imbue their qi with a trace of the law. This was very useful during Combat, increasing their prowess by many levels. For example, a cultivator at the Insight Level of the Ice laws would be able to fight twelve Ice cultivators who hadn't comprehended the Ice laws yet without breaking a sweat.
The Second Level, Mastery was even more powerful. Cultivators at this level would be able to defeat Insight Level cultivators easily, being more familiar with law application and its complexity.
The third level was Manifestation. Now, the cultivation would be able to manifest a private domain of their comprehended law. Under this domain, one would be subject to the full effects of the law. If a female cultivator who has comprehended the slaughter laws to the Insight Level is able to affect one person at a time while fighting, she would be able to affect anyone within a specific radius from her if her comprehension has reached Manifestation.
Kong Xiang's Nature Domain was such, his comprehension reaching Manifestation level without him doing any work at all. Unfortunately, he was limited by his low cultivation, so his radius was smaller, and Nature Qi wasn't a combat type energy in the first place, hence its lack of great attack power.

Chen Xiaowen spent decades planning his resurrection, and his Seal Law played a big role in his plans. Sealing Runes were inscribed all over the formation and sealing intent was present in the formation environment. Kong Xiang's Nature Qi allowed him to sense this peculiarity.

His Origin Pool, which had strands of Qi with Nature intent was suddenly enveloped by Seal Intent. His total Qi in the pool was compressed and sealed to a tenth of the space it occupied.
From the atmosphere, Kong Xiang's newly acquired Manifestation Level Seal Domain negated the sealing of his body and the elemental qi in the air, and a large quantity of Wood, Thunder and Water origin energies rushed into his body, refilling his Origin Pool.
