"Fine, I won't go. Do something for me." Janice took out a card and handed it to the driver.
Shannon sat limply in the law firm for the entire day, crying till there were almost no more tears left.
"Casey, I know you need some peace and quiet, but it's already nine o'clock at night. Shall we grab some food together?" Pete knocked on Shannon's door, his voice full of worry.
Shannon got up dizzily, opened the door and followed him out.
"Someone introduced me to a new Russian restaurant on Peaks Street. I—"
"Pete, send me home please. I don't feel like eating. I just want to sleep." Shannon didn't have an appetite. She just wanted to go home and have a good night's sleep.
She felt like she was about to collapse. All she wanted was to sleep; she would only be able to clear her mind temporarily by sleeping.
"Have a good rest. I'll make you something to eat when you wake up." Pete smiled and sent Shannon home.
