This planet's natives surprisingly have very similar religious beliefs to humanity's previous world. But aside from their differences, they have one belief that united them all: there are seven circles of hell based on all seven deadly sins, depending on how devoted they were to their belief. Where each layer has different methods of punishment for their sins.
1. Pride: Rather than experiencing physical pain, sinners endured psychological torment in a lush tropical forest that posed no threat to them. The sinners in that layer realize that they will never enter heaven due to the peace, as this layer serves as a perfect punishment for those who desire more. Those who were extremely arrogant in their previous lives, where they experienced neither rewards nor punishments, also belong to this layer.
2. Greed: Within that layer, there existed a demonic entity, akin to an angel, who promised to bring them salvation. The horrifying 4 horsemen of the apocalypse will continue to wreak havoc on sinners as they get closer. They won't stop until they capture at least one sinner, tormenting them for their sins.
3. Wrath: Wrathful sinners endure an ultra-violent storm that drowns their bodies in a restless ocean filled with raging waves, thunderstorms, and nightmarish deep sea monsters. There are three different layers to the punishment:
A. Storm: The restless rainstorm, accompanied by tornadoes and thunder, strikes wrathful souls, such as hate spouters, war bringers, provocators, genociders, mass killers, and so forth, who always vent their wrath upon others. The reflection of the sinners' violent wrathful nature transforms survival into a struggle for survival.
B. Disorder: wrathful souls venting their wrath to themselves, such as committing suicide, self-harming, self-shaming, and so on. The trench of the ocean will submerge them and transform them into monstrous yet miserable beings. These beings will carry a massive explosive ball as punishment for neglecting their burden. Indeed, the sinners of this layer will even resort to hurling the explosive ball at other sinners, provided they possess sufficient strength to bear the burden. In the end, the sinners' souls will continue to reincarnate as the same miserable being, continuously enduring the punishment.
C. Genocide: The gigantic sea dragon snake, resembling Leviathan and Midgardsorm, consumes wrathful souls who vent their anger towards God, art, and nature, such as blasphemers, usurpers, and many more. The parasite in the monster's digestive system concurrently devours the bodies of these individuals.
4. Gluttony: All sinners endure punishment in the scorching desert, continuously starving and thirsty yet remaining standing. Every time they see nearby edible feasts, they become increasingly distant, akin to a mirage, as their bodies weaken despite still standing.
5. Lust: This hell is where lustful sinners endure a dark, creepy, and disturbing nature, with nightmarish beings always lurking in every shadow. Eventually, an endless loop of labyrinths, blackened thunderstorms, and even a castle of blackened veins filled with abominations provide them with the perfect punishment for their sins. There are three different layers:
A. Medusa: To prevent their inherent nature, sinners who engage in self-indulgence, such as masturbation and the creation of vulgar arts, undergo transformation into stone as a form of atonement. This layer of lust is filled with a labyrinth that effectively confuses sinners in the midst of their escapades. Despite their greatest efforts, sinners ultimately succumb to exhaustion and turn into stone, with each petrified sinner's joint abruptly transforming into a reflection of their past sins.
B. Tartarus: The Phlegethon ocean of boiling sperm and blood covered the bodies of sinners who lusted after others, condemning them to continuously engage in their lustful acts, until their bodies abruptly transformed into either copulant or abominant forms. In the copulant state, two sinners in their normal states are cursed to copulate with each other, causing their bodies to agglutinate and transform into terrifying creatures. An abominant, on the other hand, occurs when a copulant sinner engages in sexual relations with another sinner in their normal state. But as they turned into abominants, they will never be able to copulate anymore as their genitals have already malfunctioned due to the curse.
C. Asmodeous: In the castle of blackened veins, where the most degenerate sinners who have committed unforgivable acts of lust, such as rape, pedophilia, pimping, bestiality, cheating, and so on, will transform into cheatery. Unlike copulant or abominant, their pain increased as they became one. However, in a rare exception, if the victims of this layer are willingly embraced by the cheaters, they will transform into one.
6. Sloth: The boiling red tide of poison drowned all sinners who were slothful, with the waves devouring their bodies to the bone as a punishment for their slothful nature, while they tormented inside the scorching coffins. This layer serves as the atonement for those who seldom assume responsibilities, praise God's existence, refrain from opposing evil in the name of pacifism, or even exhibit cowardly compliance.
7. Heresy: Similar to the Sloth layer, this is the most oppressive layer, where sinners who committed such heretical acts as perverting religious teachings, selling their souls to the demon, and so forth, were subjected to brutal enslavement, just as in ancient times. Shackled in a line, they were guided to the shrine of sacrifice, where their mutilated corpses would resurrect to repeat the process.
8. Deception: Those who commit acts such as fraudulence, which completely pervert God's will, such as sorcerers, false prophets, and many others, experience confusion and exhaustion. They must persistently navigate through non-Euclidean labyrinths, which exacerbate their confusion and ultimately lead to their exhaustion. The spirits of their exhausted bodies will be drawn in and transformed into ghostly beings that resemble the Phantom. This layer divides uniquely into three parts: paradox, perversion, and projection. This accurately portrays the deceitful sinners' past transgressions.
9. Envy: All sinners who are full of jealousy and dare to wreak havoc must endure the freezing nature of this hell's layer, until their bodies freeze in the deep, dark cave full of ice. The layer separates into three distinct layers:
A. Cainus: This parallels Cain's treatment of Abel, where envious sinners who use sheer violence to incite jealousy against others will find themselves frozen in a deep, dark cavern. No such scorching flames could melt the ice in this layer, further reinforcing the punishment for the envious sinners.
B. Antoria: Envious souls, seeking to surpass others due to their ungratefulness or despair, will face their atonement by drowning in the steep pond of the ice cavern while still breathing. But they will suffer the most painful, continuous muscle cramps every time they try to swim to the surface.
C. Judecca: Very much resembling what Judas Iscariot committed to Jesus Christ, envy toward God with sheer corruption will result in the heaviest torment. Millions of swords on all sides will chain and impale the sinners in this layer, as their bodies freeze on the frozen mountain peaks. Even worse, the layer will continuously mutilate their joints, subjecting them to the same punishment.
Of course, I was inspired by Dante Alighieri's Inferno. But I added my own twist to add flavor and originality.
So, enjoy the next chapter.
