One night, at the Parker Refugee Pathways Fundraiser, Peter walks with Ben wearing a suit and a bow tie.
"How do you wear one of these suits every day, Ben?" Peter jokingly asks.
Ben smiles.
"With style and a quiet, uncomplaining grace, Master Peter." Ben says.
Peter smirks at his butler and forms a full smile to greet people and shake hands. He is then met by congresswoman Knope.
"Mr. Parker, this is a fine thing you're doing here." She says shaking his hand.
"Thank you, congresswoman. I know not everyone agrees." Peter replies.
He then looks over and sees Andrea Watson wearing a stunning black dress, taking his breath away.
"Would you excuse me for a moment?" He says with a smile.
He then walks over to Andrea, the two smiling as they stare into each others eyes.
"Wow. You look absolutely stunning. Ms. Watson."
"Thank you. You don't look too bad yourself, Mr. Parker."
The two share a light chuckle as Peter wraps his arm around her waist.
"But you know, I think I prefer you in spandex." Andrea whispers.
While Peter blushes, Dick Grayson walks over.
"You know I heard that, right?" Dick says.
Both Peter and Andrea laugh.
"I'm glad you could make it, Dick." Peter says putting his hand on his shoulder.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world."Dick says.
At that moment, both Peter and Dick notices something.
"Hey, you hear what I see?" Peter whispers to Dick.
"Sniper up high, at the southwest window. Aiming right at your chest." Dick replies.
"People are going to be distracted, go after him as soon as he fires." Peter says.
He then leans over to Andrea.
"Hunny, don't be alarmed, but I'm about to be shot." Peter whispers.
"What!?" Andrea replies out of shock.
At that moment, the sniper shoots, but at the last second moves, only getting hit in the shoulder. Peter plays along, falling to the ground, giving Dick a distraction. Andrea kneels down at Peter's side.
"Someone call nine-one-one!" Andrea yells frantically.
She then kneels down.
"You're ok, right?" Andrea whispers.
"Yeah, of course." Peter replies.
"Ok, good. Someone help!"
Meanwhile Dick grabs a woman's scarf.
"Sorry, I'm going to need to borrow this." Dick says, wrapping it around his head, covering his eyes, and running up the stairs.
He then jumps through a window in the rain and chases after the shooter. He soon catches up, kicking deadshot the hunter in the back and down to the ground. Kraven gets back to his feet, with a smile.
"I try to only kill who I'm paid to. But you seem like worthy prey."
Dick smirks.
"Funny. My ex girlfriend said the same thing."
Kraven charges at Dick, shooting at him while doing so. Dick dodges the bullets, but gets grassed by one. Kraven then pulls out a knife and goes to stab him, but Dick dodges and punches him across the face. Kraven headbutts Dick and slashes him across the leg. He then grabs him by the throat and throws and slams him down, pinning him to the ground. As he raises his blade above his head, Dick kicks him in the back and throws him off of him.
The Devil of Hells Kitchen then kips up to his feet and lands a tornado kick to Kravens face. Kraven swings, but Dick is able to block, landing a right hook to the head and body, followed by a left uppercut. He ducks another swing with the knife, landing a forearm strike to his nose and kicking him to the ground.
"It's over, Kraven. Now be a nice hunter and stay down." Dick says.
At that moment, Kraven quickly pulls out a taser and shocks the water under Dicks feet, electrocuting him and dropping him to a knee, allowing him time to escape.
"Damn, that smarts." Dick says.
Meanwhile in Metropolis, at the Daily Planet, Clark Kent is working on a story when his wife Lois Lane soon enters his office and closes the blinds.
"You know, Lois, a newly married couple closing the blinds on an entire newsroom isn't exactly going to go unnoticed. These people are professionally suspicious." Clark says with a smile.
He then notices the worried look on her face.
"Clark. It just came through the wires. Peter Parker has been shot." Lois says.
Clark is visibly worried.
"Is he...?"
"He's ok. He's at Forest Hills Hospital." Lois says, opening a window.
"I have to go." Clark says.
"I know. I'll cover for you here. Go." Lois says.
Clark gives his wife a kiss, grabs his shield from his bag, and unbutttons his shirt to reveal a star spangled "S" on his chest. He then flies to New York City at full speed, worried about his friend.
A few minutes pass and Clark enters Peter's hospital room through the window where Dick Grayson is waiting.
"Dick Grayson, it's nice to finally meet you. Peter speaks highly of you."
The two share a handshake.
"Captain." Dick says, a little surprised by his presence.
"How is he?" Clark asks.
"He's, alright and can hear you." Peter says.
Clark and Dick chuckles, as Clark walks over and the two shake hands.
"Sneaking through windows in the dead of night doesn't really suit you, Clark." Peter says.
Clark smiles.
"You gave us a scare." Clark says, as a concerned friend.
Peter smiles back at his friend.
"I'm ok. Really Clark, I'm healing as we speak. I'm ok." Peter says.
At that moment, Ben and Andrea enter the room.
"Captain." Ben says.
"Ben, Andrea. It's good to see the both of you."
"And it's good to have you here, particularly given the circumstances." Ben says.
"Dick, how safe is he?" Clark asks.
"Captain Stacy has cops stationed through out the hospital. Oracle made a few calls and has Black Raven and Ms. Wonder set up in the building next-door. Mercury is patrolling the perimeter. He arrived moments ago. You almost beat him here." Dick says.
"What do I need to know?" Clark asks.
"Master Peter has been receiving death threats over his refugee charity." Ben says.
"And of course, he kept these to himself." Andrea says, jokingly smacking Peter in the back of the head."
Clark sighs, folding his arms at Peter.
"Peter Parker was receiving death threats and you went out in public without being protected?"
"I was protected. I wore a light weight vest which would have stopped almost anything." Peter says.
"But the shooter was deadshot. He'd prepared for the possibility. The bullet came through Peter's shoulder and armpit, bypassing the vest. Floyd Kraven is expensive, whoever wants Pete dead, is willing to put up some serious cash. They won't stop until we stop them." Dick says.
Peter slowly sits up, still a little sore from being shot.
"We should-"
Peter immediately gets cut off by Andrea.
"This is too open and too public. As soon as he's able, I want to move him." Andrea says.
"I agree." Clark replies.
"You don't think I can take care of myself?" Peter asks with a smirk.
"I think Spider-Bat can take care of himself. I think Peter Parker is as mortal as anyone else." Clark says.
"I'm not leaving New York." Peter says.
"You would have left New York permanently if that bullet had been a quarter of an inch lower." Andrea argues.
Clark thinks for a moment.
"I have somewhere. It's remote. It's safe." Clark says.
"Like the cave?" Andrea asks.
Clark then smiles.
"More like a fortress."
