Chereads / THE AMAZING SPIDER-BAT / Chapter 51 - THE BLACK SUIT

Chapter 51 - THE BLACK SUIT

After a few more minutes of standing on the rooftop, Peter goes to shoot out a web but sees that his hand is pitch black, confused by the sudden difference. He then jumps down, sticking on the side of the building and looking at his reflection through a window, seeing that his suit has turned black.

"What is this?" He asks himself.

He then makes a realization.

"I think I found the Ooze."

Peter then starts to feel great, better than he ever has.

"Wow. This feels- good."

Peter then jumps off of the building, further than he ever has before. He then shoots out a web and swings through the city with great speed. He then lands on another building, smiling.

"This is incredible." Peter says.

Meanwhile in a dark alley Killer Rex hides from the cops. At that moment, he hears whistling behind him.

"Whose there?" Rex demands to know.

Out of the shadows, a man with bandages all over his face steps forward.

"Your benefactor. So to speak."

"You're the one who hired me. Sorry I couldn't get the mud stain, but no refunds."

"I never cared about that. I only hired you because I knew Spider-Bat would get involved. I was hoping to persuade you in killing the Bat directly instead. Say... double what I've already paid you."

A smile appears on Rex's face.

Later in the cave, Peter and Jill analyze a piece of the suit.

"Looks like it can replicate and mutate the molecular structure of its own DNA. It's actually improving on the host organism."

"I'm guessing that's me." Peter says.

"Apparently so. This things a symbiote. An organism that thrives by bonding wth another. I don't like this, Peter. Maybe you should-"

At that moment, a report comes in about Killer Rex being seen nearby.

"I gotta go." Peter says.

"Wait Peter, I'm not sure if you should keep on the suit." Jill says.

"It's not like have anything else to wear. Right now I'll have to just deal with this." Peter says, web swinging out of the cave, as both Jill and Ben worry about him.

Meanwhile as Killer Rex walk through the streets, Spider-Bat lands behind him. Rex turns around and sees Spider-Bat with smile.

"Just the bug I wanted to see. Someone's paying big money for me to squash."

Peter doesn't say anything and glares at Killer Rex.

"New threads huh? Too bad I'm gonna have to get blood on em."

Rex charges at Peter but the hero quickly sweeps his legs from under him, sending him crashing through a wall. As Killer Rex steps out of the hole, Spider-Bat sticks on the side of the wall next to him.

"Who hired you?" Peter asks.

Rex doesn't answer and tries to punch him. Peter moves out of the way, causing him to hit the wall, then grabs him by the leg. He then picks him up and spins him around in the air, throwing him into a light post. As Killer Rex is dazed, Peter lifts him up in the air with one arm.

"This ends when you tell me who hired you."

Rex starts to panic.

"Hey! Put me down! You can't do this!"

"I just rewrote the rules. Now who hired you!" Peter yells, throwing him through another wall.

Peter then stands over him and punches him in the face.

"Give me a name!" Peter yells.

Rex growls at the hero, then Peter punches him again.

"I want a name!" Peter yells.

He punches Rex over and over again, bruising and blooding him. As he raises his fist to hit him again, Rex stops him by raising his hands and cowering in fear.

"I don't know his name! It was just some guy with bandages over his face, I have no idea who he is! Just please, stop!" Rex says.

Peter stops himself, secretly being concerned by how he almost lost control with Rex.

Later, rex is taken away by multiple police officers into a very large police vehicle. Commissioner Stacy then approaches Spider-Bat.

"Looks like you did a number on him. He didn't happen to tell you where he put the Ooze, did he?"

Peter then prepares to tell Commissioner Stacy the truth.

"Actually-"

Before he can tell him, his inner thoughts stops him.

"What are you doing? If you tell him, you'll lose the suit. Then how will you protect this city?" His inner thoughts says.

Peter thinks for a moment.

"No. But whoever hired him to steal the lifeform, also hired him to kill me."

Stacy chuckles.

"If I had a nickel, huh? You get a name?"

"Just someone with bandages over his face."

"We'll keep an eye out. Nice suit by the-"

Before Commissioner Stacy could finish his sentence, Peter is already gone. Meanwhile, the man with the bandages over his face is secretly watching from the rooftop.

As Peter swings through the city, Ben comes through from the ear piece in his mask.

"Sir, are you sure you shouldn't have told Commissioner Stacy about the Alien Lifeform. I'm sure he'd understand that this was all a big accident."

"I can't, Ben. This suit increases my abilities. I'm stronger than I've ever been. I need it to be the man this city needs."

Ben is a little concerned, but trusts Peter's judgment.

"Alright, Master Peter. If you think it's best."

At that moment, Peter's web gets cut by something sharp being thrown. Peter quickly shoots out another web and swings onto the side of the building. He looks around to see who did, seeing the man with the bandages trying to run away. Peter quickly swings onto the roof, but sees that the mystery man is gone. He gets angry, punching a hole in a solid brick wall.

"Who are you?" Peter asks himself.

Peter then swings down to the ground, seeing what was used to cut his web. He picks up one of his batarangs with a question mark painted on it and looks at it for a moment, taking note of this.

"Sir, are you alright?" Ben asks.

"I'm fine Ben. Just ran into our mystery man. And I may know who."
