One night, a man in a prison jumpsuit runs through the streets as police sirens are heard in the background. He quickly climbs up a fire escape and slowly sneaks into an apartment through a window. When he enters, he looks over and sees a little girl sleeping. His daughter... sleeping. The man sighs while staring at her then quietly leaves the room. He then changes his clothes and walks into the kitchen to make himself a sandwich.
At that moment, the lights turn on in the kitchen. The man turns around and sees a woman with her arms folded at him in disapproval.
"Hey Emma. I didn't mean to wake you." The man says.
"You can't hide here, Flint." She says.
Flint stares at Emma for a moment, then let's out a sigh.
"It's my home too." He says.
"This hasn't been your home in years. Even before you went to prison."
Flint scoffs.
"I don't need another lecture. Besides I only came to see my daughter."
Emma starts to get angry at Flint.
"You are an escaped convict. The cops are looking for you. You're not getting near her... You're nothing but a common thief."
"I did what I had to for this family." Flint says.
"No. You did it for yourself. Because you thought you were too good for a regular job. Because you couldn't handle the fact that your time in the spotlight was over."
The two then hear a door open behind them and see their daughter walking in. Flint quickly walks over to her, kneeling down and holding her in his arms.
"Penny. I missed you."
Penny smiles.
"I missed you too, daddy."
At that moment, sirens are heard and red flashing lights can be seen outside.
"Get out of here. Now." Emma demands.
Flint sighs, then walks over to the window. After looking back at his daughter one last time, he quickly leaves.
Meanwhile, as Quentin Nygma is sitting in his cell, a guard walks by and notices something off.
"Hey! Nygma!" The guard yells.
Quentin doesn't respond and the Guard walks into the cell.
"Hey Nygma. I'm talking to you."
The guard shakes Nygma, causing his head to fall off. The guard yells for a moment, then realizes that it's a robot. He quickly runs out radios in for help.
"Quentin Nygma has escaped! I repeat, Quentin Nygma has escaped!" He says.
Meanwhile, a hooded figure approaches a secret storage unit. He walks in and takes off his hood to reveal that he's Quentin Nygma with a smug smile on his face. As he flips a switch, it turns on his high-tech computer and other equipment. When he turns around, he shocked to see Spider-Bat right behind him.
"Wha- How-"
Peter quickly grabs Nygma by the throat and pins him up against the wall. He then pulls out the batarang with the question mark on it.
"If you were as smart as you claim to be, you should have stayed low and not get my attention."
"I- don't know- what you're talking- about." Nygma struggles to say.
Peter's grip gets tighter.
"This was thrown at me last night! After I took down someone who was hired to kill me! It's your symbol on it!"
Nygma looks over at the batarang, face turning entirely red with tears in his eyes.
"I- didn't have- nothing- to do- with that... I- swear."
Peter glares at Nygma for a moment. He then slowly let's go of him, causing him to drop to the ground gasping for air.
Later on, as Nygma is taken back to prison, Peter watches from a distance.
"Nygma didn't know anything about last night."
"That Killer Rex fellow did say the one who hired him was wearing bandages over his face." Ben says through his earpiece.
Peter thinks for a moment, before web swinging away, while the man with bandages over his face watches him from a rooftop.
Back with Flint Hagen, he is running away from police and their dogs. He quickly jumps over a fence with a danger sign on it. As Flint starts to run again, he quickly falls down a pit full of sand and a clay like substance. He looks around, it being too dark to see anything. A bright light then comes on above him. Unbeknownst to him, Flint is inside a particle accelerator. A group of scientists operate it from inside the testing lab.
"There's a change in the silicon mass." One scientist says.
"It's probably a bird. It'll fly away when we fire it up."
"Initiating demolecularization."
As the machine turns on, the sand and clay material begins to circle around Flint. He covers his face, while minerals start to affect Flints DNA. His body then begins to turn into both sand and clay. As his body begins to fade away, he screams out in pain while he completely fades away.
That morning Peter is in the cave, still working on figuring out who the man with the bandages over his face is. Ben walks in with his breakfast in hand.
"Any progress sir?"
Peter sighs.
"No. I barely even caught an image of him. Guy vanishes without a trace."
"Sounds a lot like you, sir." Ben says.
Peter smirks at him, then see that he's getting a call from Andrea.
"Have you talked to her, since last night?"
Peter doesn't answer for a moment.
"No. Haven't had the chance to."
He then stands up and walks over to his suit.
"I should go see her. Tell her that something came up last night. Which is technically not untrue."
"I believe that would be for the best, sir." Ben says.
When Peter grabs his black suit, it crawls onto his body on its own, surprising both Peter and Ben. While Peter is amazed, Ben is concerned.
"Woah. This suit is incredible."
"Yes... incredible. Are you sure it's a good idea to keep it, Master Peter?" Ben asks.
"Don't worry, Ben. We'll be fine."
Peter then swings out of the cave, leaving Ben even more concerned.
"We?" Ben thinks to himself.
While that's happening, at the particle accelerator testing area, the sand and clay starts to slightly move. A hand begins to form out of the minerals created out of the mixture of clay and sand. Soon a full grown figure rises from the ground, struggling hold its shape. The figure, made out of sand and clay, starts walking slowly and begins to regain his appearance as Flint Hagen, who is still alive and has changed forever.
