Chapter 6 The Blinding Light
Her mind went empty. Seline could not figure out what she had seen. The ridiculousness of the whole thing makes her wonder whether she had mistakenly seen what she thought she had seen.
Maybe she had been so tired lately with work that her mind and eyes started to play tricks on her eyes.
But then it occurred to her. After sorting out her cognition and thoughts, she confirmed that she had indeed seen what she thought was impossible.
High above the air, probably around 500 meters above, there seems to be something floating up there.
After looking carefully, it seems like a transparent sphere. At first glance, people would not notice such a sphere because its transparent surface makes it invincible to the naked eye.
If it were not for the clear weather and her trained eyesight, she wouldn't even noticed it herself. She almost missed it.
At such heights and angles, as a normal person, who in their right mind would bother to look up and particularly search for it? Without prior knowledge of its existence, and knowing that something was there up in the sky, no one would carefully look toward it.
It was floating up there inconspicuously.
It would not attract any attention even if there's a helicopter had flown past near it. She had only noticed it purely due to her luck and pure coincidence.
At that moment when she looked up, for a short moment, there was a sudden change on the transparent sphere's surface that was reflected by the light. A wave pattern suddenly appeared on its surface.
Because of assistance from the sunlight being refracted and reflected, it allowed the sphere to become visible to her eye.
The surface's shape changes were like ripples on the surface of water when a stone was thrown into it. The ripple wave on the surface was what caused it to become visible.
At once upon noticing it, she knew something was wrong.
As far as she knows, transparent camouflage technology has not been successfully developed yet. Nor was there any barrier-like technology available.
On the other hand, there's an incomplete blueprint being worked on based on some theoretical hypothesis. However practical working prototype had not yet been developed.
At the moment, the object seemed to be floating up there.
Because of that, under her normal thought process, she assumed that it should have floated there with some external assistance device or supporting prop. It could have been floating there using helium.
Or it could have been a drone, carefully designed and engineered. Of course, neglecting the transparent part.
Under normal situations, at such a height, there should be a strong irregular wind blown once in a while. Regardless of engineering and physics application, even with a highly calibrated fan and complex algorithm, at most, it would make the drone or balloon stationary floating in the air.
Meaning it could shake from time to time when the wind suddenly became strong. Anyone who has operated a drone would say current drone technologies could fix a drone's position at a given coordinate and position without moving, demonstrating its stability and resilience when faced with windy weather.
But regardless of how people would argue, compared to the drone or balloon, this sphere was stuck there above in the sky in a weird way.
It was no longer about stability and whatnot.
It was as if it was nailed there at that spot, like a frame being nailed on a wall.
From observation, there's no indication of any supporting device, object, or forces that help it fixed at that position. It just seems like its existence itself is locked in space there.
However, she does not rule out the possibility that some black technology had been successfully developed secretly somewhere by some mysterious organization or first-world country. After all, no one knows what ambitious projects were conducted over the years in those secret laboratories and bases
But even with such a wild assumption, there's no reason for such a thing to appear here in public. There's no military installation here, nor was there any research institute or government agency here.
So, for such a thing to appear here, she knew that there might be some monstrous circumstances going on at the moment. There might even be a bigger conspiracy being involved.
She was not too inclined to think about various absurd and pessimistic assumptions. But since her daughter was here with her, she needed to think about the worst possible scenario and find a way to save them both from possible danger.
Without knowing the purpose nor the function of such a sphere, she could only pretend not to see it while keeping her guard up to respond to any changes. Her current top priority was ensuring the safety of their mother and daughter.
She had thought about it carefully and decided it might not be safe to stay here. She planned to quickly take her daughter away from here and watch the changes slowly.
When she had just wanted to stand up from the chair, a sudden flash of bright light spread from the uppermost atmosphere. The light was so blinding that all people, whether they were inside or outside buildings, were forced to shut their eyes in pain.
The most bizarre fact was that it was obvious the light source came from the upper atmosphere direction. Under the law of physics, it could not and should not penetrate solid objects or hidden locations.
However, the bright light reached even the hidden corner of every secluded space in the world. Places like caves, basements, various underground lab facilities, military bases, and even tightly shut secret chambers, were not spared.
In short, all those living on the earth, human and non-human alike, so long as they were living lifeforms, were affected by the blinding light.
Thankfully the light had only shone for a short moment. The bright light had suddenly come and suddenly gone in the next moment. Even some people thought it was just an illusion.
After the blinding light receded and disappeared, a small confusion spread across the world. The phenomenon was so unusual that it had become the talk of town everywhere. However, besides a certain group of concerned people, the rest of mankind treated it just as a unique experience and joked about it. Soon the incident was forgotten.
After all, there were many other events, accidents, and incidents that continue to enrich life on Earth.
After all such an incident happens only for a short moment, a blink of an eye moment.
Besides experiencing that moment of blinding light, it did not affect their life.
If it were not for the fact that they had confirmed with each other what they knew and experienced were similar, they would even think that blinding light was just their imagination. Perhaps their eyes and minds were playing tricks with themselves.
Only those in power and scientists continued to investigate to determine the source and reason behind the blinding light. Regardless of whether the investigation had some ulterior motive or purely out of the intention of protecting the general public, everyone understands they need to know the reason behind it. Because nothing in this world happens without reason.
Unfortunately, they were doomed to be disappointed. Despite their various speculations and theories, all investigation efforts came to naught. All equipment shows nothing out of the ordinary had ever happened. Neither their most sensitive device's sensors nor most sophisticated machines have ever picked up nor recorded any evidence of such an incident ever occurring.
It was as if only all living things, or maybe only the humans living on the earth ever noticed the weird blinding light ever shone on earth.

Shortly after the light was gone, everyone was recovering from the bizarre light. There was some confusion, and many people were discussing and wondering what that light was just now. Where does it come from?
Because of this, the scene abruptly becomes very quiet with only the sounds of whispering could be heard.
At this moment, a piercing shout of pain was heard. A woman suddenly falls from the chair and keeps holding her head in intense pain.
"Aahh!!"
The sudden shout of pain breaks the quiet atmosphere and everyone around is attracted to the voice.
Holding her head with both hands, Seline felt as if her head was going to explode. Just moments ago, when she had just wanted to stand up, after the blinding light came and disappeared, a sudden intense pain suddenly appeared from deep inside her brain.
Because of the pain, she was unable to control herself and fell. She continued wriggling and struggling on the floor.
"Mommy!" Stella shouted.
