Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Miracle Doctor

[New Future Hospital – ER Reception]

The emergency room was a symphony of chaos—beeping monitors, hurried footsteps, and the occasional cry of pain or frustration. Nurses darted between patients, their faces masks of concentration, while residents huddled in corners, flipping through charts and whispering frantic questions to one another. Amid the turmoil, one man moved with an air of calm authority, his presence like a lighthouse in a storm.

Doctor Salah, the head of surgery, was a figure of legend in New Future Hospital. Tall and strikingly handsome, with sharp features and piercing green eyes, he carried himself with a quiet confidence that inspired both awe and admiration. As he strode through the ER, his white coat billowing behind him, patients and staff alike turned to watch him pass. He paused to greet a young girl with a broken arm, his smile warm and reassuring, before moving on to consult with a team of residents.

Resident 1: whispering to Resident 2 "Hey, is that Doctor Salah?"

Resident 2: smirking "You must be new here if you don't recognize the head of surgery."

Resident 1: defensive "Yeah, it's my first day. Don't be a jerk—I just wanted to make sure I had the right person."

Resident 2: chuckling "Relax, man. You won't last long here if you're this sensitive. But yeah, that's him. The 'Miracle Doctor.'"

Resident 1: eyes wide "What does it take to learn under him?"

Resident 2: raising an eyebrow "Another one biting off more than they can chew, huh? Every resident here fights for a spot in his lectures, and you want to work directly with him? Good luck."

Nearby, two nurses at the reception desk overheard the conversation. They exchanged knowing glances, their expressions a mix of amusement and exasperation.

Nurse 1: leaning closer to Nurse 2 "Another fanboy. Do you blame him? The hospital markets him like he's some kind of wizard."

Nurse 2: sighing "I get it. Doctor Salah is amazing. If there's a way to save a patient, he finds it. And if the family can't afford treatment, he pays out of his own pocket or raises funds. The man's a saint."

Nurse 1: softly "A saint, huh?" She sighed. "They don't know what it takes to become one, do they?"

Nurse 2: nodding "No, they don't." Her voice dropped to a whisper. "He's been through hell to get here."

[Later That Day – A Quiet Room in the Hospital]

The room was dimly lit, the air heavy with the scent of antiseptic and the weight of unspoken grief. Doctor Salah stood with another doctor, their faces solemn as they faced the husband of a patient they had operated on earlier that day. The man's face was pale, his hands trembling as he clutched a crumpled tissue.

Doctor Salah: gently "I'm sorry. Your wife… she didn't make it."

Other Doctor: softly "We did everything we could."

The husband's legs buckled, and Salah caught him, guiding him to a chair. The man's sobs filled the room as he muttered, "This can't be real… I shouldn't have agreed to the surgery… How am I supposed to live without her?"

Following protocol, the doctors left the room to give the man space. But moments later, the door burst open. The husband stood there, a gun in his hand, his eyes wild with rage.

Husband: voice shaking "You killed her! If you'd done your job, she'd still be alive!"

Before anyone could react, he fired. Salah pushed the other doctor out of the way, but the second shot hit his leg. Pain shot through him as he collapsed, blood pooling beneath him.

[Salah's POV]

I knew he was unstable. I should've warned security.

The husband advanced, his gun shaking but still aimed at Salah.

Husband: voice breaking "You're coming with me. I have nothing left, and neither will you."

Two more shots rang out. Salah felt the impact in his chest, and everything went dark.

I regret not being able to save you, sister. I lived alone, and now I die alone on a hospital floor.

[The Afterlife – A White Void]

Salah drifted in darkness, weightless and timeless. There was no pain, no fear—just emptiness. Then, suddenly, he was standing in a vast, white void.

Salah: looking around "Where am I? Hello? Is anyone here?"

A soothing voice echoed in his mind.

???: "Calm yourself, child of man. You are in the passage between life and death. I am here to offer you a choice."

Salah: frowning "A choice?"

???: "You lived a life of giving, yet you were never rewarded. Karma is real, and I offer you two paths: eternal peace in heaven or rebirth in a new world with powers of your choosing."

Salah thought about it. Heaven sounded tempting, but…

Salah: firmly "I choose rebirth. And for my power… I want the ability to heal. True healing—not just medicine, but magic. The power to save lives without limits."

???: "Your wish is granted. But there is more. Your sister, Nora… would you like her to join you in this new life?"

Salah's heart skipped a beat.

Salah: voice trembling "Nora? She's here?"

A figure materialized before him—a young woman with a warm smile.

Nora: softly "Salah? Is that you?"

Tears welled up in Salah's eyes as he hugged her.

Salah: choking up "I'm so sorry I couldn't save you."

Nora: gently "You idiot. It wasn't your fault. I've been at peace in heaven, but I'm glad I got to see you again."

After a long conversation, Nora decided to stay in heaven, leaving Salah to embark on this new journey alone.
