Chapter 26 - Chapter 15: The Final Stand

[The Aftermath]

The group returned to Galora, their spirits lifted by the knowledge of their victory. But the destruction of the Shard had come at a cost. Salah was left weakened, and Kael was gravely injured. The group set up camp in a secluded grove, the fire crackling softly as they tended to their wounds.

Salah sat by the fire, his hands glowing faintly as he healed a minor injury on one of the elven warriors. Rex padded silently beside him, his golden eyes scanning the surroundings for threats. The tiger's presence was a comforting constant, and his bond with Salah allowed them to communicate without words.

Rex: through their bond "You're troubled, Salah. What weighs on you?"

Salah: mentally "Everything, Rex. The Shard, the prophecy, Thorgrim's betrayal… I feel like I'm failing everyone."

Rex: "You're not failing. You're carrying too much alone. Let us help you."

Salah glanced at Rex, a faint smile tugging at his lips. The tiger's loyalty and wisdom were a source of strength, even in the darkest moments.

[The Forbidden Spell]

As the night wore on, Salah found himself growing restless. The memory of the Shard's corruption lingered in his mind, and he couldn't shake the feeling that he had made a mistake. He stood and walked to the edge of the camp, his hands glowing faintly as he cast a protective spell.

Rex followed him, his golden eyes filled with concern.

Rex: through their bond "You're pushing yourself too hard, Salah. You need to rest."

Salah: mentally "I can't. Not while there's still so much at stake."

Rex: "You're not alone. We're here to help you."

Salah nodded, his resolve hardening. But as he turned to rejoin the group, a wave of dizziness washed over him, and he stumbled. Rex was there in an instant, his massive form supporting Salah as he regained his balance.

Rex: through their bond "You're not invincible, Salah. You need to take care of yourself."

Salah: mentally "I know. But I can't stop now. Not when so many lives are at stake."

Rex: "Then let us help you. You don't have to carry this burden alone."

Salah nodded, his heart swelling with gratitude. He knew Rex was right, but the weight of the prophecy still loomed large in his mind.

[The Vision]

As the night wore on, Salah found himself drifting into a restless sleep. In his dreams, he was visited by a vision—a dark, shadowy figure standing in a ruined city, its eyes glowing with malevolent light. The figure raised its hand, and the ground beneath it cracked and split, the sky above turning black as night.

Salah woke with a start, his heart pounding and his body drenched in sweat. Rex was by his side in an instant, his golden eyes filled with concern.

Rex: through their bond "What is it, Salah? What did you see?"

Salah: mentally "A vision. A dark figure, standing in a ruined city. It was… terrifying."

Rex: "A warning, perhaps. We must be on our guard."

Salah nodded, his resolve hardening. He knew the battle was far from over, and he would need all the help he could get.

[The Journey Continues]

The next morning, the group set out on the road once more, their spirits lifted by the knowledge of their victory. But the destruction of the Shard had come at a cost. Salah was left weakened, and Kael was gravely injured.

Lady Asura walked beside Salah, her silver hair glinting in the sunlight and her piercing blue eyes scanning the horizon.

Lady Asura: softly "We'll reach the source of the dark magic by nightfall. Once we're there, we'll gather our allies and prepare for what's to come."

Salah nodded, his voice filled with determination.

Salah: "I'll do whatever it takes to protect this world."

Lady Asura smiled, her eyes filled with pride.

Lady Asura: "I know you will, Salah. And together, we'll face whatever comes our way."

As they continued on their journey, Salah felt a sense of purpose that he hadn't felt in a long time. This was his chance to make a difference—to use his power to protect the innocent and fight against the darkness.
