As I finally get myself up to the door checkpoint there are waiters or butlers greeting the guests individually "Greetings ma'am and sir how are you hope you enjoy this night"
I get myself in line and some eyes start staring at me. I hope they are not staring at me because it seems I am the only Beastman here...Out of lets say about er...30 people so far that I can see. And that's just what I can see not everyone. Hope I don't end up like a stick in the mud.
I arrive next up and the butler looks at me for a moment before noticing the pass in my hand. He smiles oddly and welcomes me but doesn't say anything to me, unlike the other guests. Sort of felt left out now. I wanted to be greeted as well.
I make my way inside the party and immediately I get trapped by the color of my clothes and pulls into the side of the door where a large tall Lioness woman is wearing a red gown. I am amazed by it actually but stopped as the one who grabbed me speaks
"So you came finally. Good. How do I look?
"I uhm, you look uh...Amazing in all honesty. I don't know how to word it."
"Hmm adorable"
"What?"
"Now go find the mistress. I am sure she will be searching for you in this place. But be warned...Some of the folks here are lets say...strange towards me. I feel it could be due to my presence or more."
I think it is either because a huge strong woman like herself is here with all these smaller people or it is because she is a beastwoman. I hope it isn't the ladder because that would just be disrespectful.
I walk farther inside and people are laughing dancing and chatting but when I come in proximity to some of these people they immediately stop and look at me. I definitely feel like a stick in the mud.
I continue walking and notice some young children are here to. some of which are neatly dressed as well. I notice one of them is crying however. I walk over to her and kneel down to her to be eye height.
"Hey, are you okay?"
*sniff* "I lost my mommy! I can't find her! No one will help me" *Sniff*
"I will help you, what does she look like?"
"She," *sniff* "She has blue hair, a red dress, and freckles. Brown eyes as well..." *sniff*
"Thank you come with me"
"I stand up and reach my hand down to her which she slowly reaches back. I take her hand carefully not to squeeze it and start walking to the west side of the room searching.
"Hmm, not her not her...not her definitely not her...Where could she be"
I search for a few minutes and she start to cry again. need to comfort her or else it will cause a scene. I don't want that to happen. I pick her up in my arms and hold her up over my head. This draws some attention but it doesn't draw too much.
I place her on my shoulders and start bouncing which start to make her smile and laugh a bit.
"See isn't this fun?"
"Y-yeah it is mister"
"Now let's find your mother, you can help now that you have a higher vantage point now"
-4 minutes later-
"Man where could she, ah found her!"
"W-what?! Really?!"
"Elly!? Elly?! Where are you?!" the woman please.
"Mommy!" Elly says
"Elly?! there you are. Oh my gosh where were you-"
She stops for a moment and places her hands on her face in shock. I stop and well with m smile going away as well. She seemed so happy for a moment ago seeing her daughter why did she stop?
"Y-you! Unhand my daughter!" she says rushing up to me in a storm.
I set down the girl carefully and with the girl ran back to her mother's arms. She runs back to her open arms but the woman looks back at me with a snarl look on her face.
"How dare you take my child from me! I should've known a beastman would've done this"
"What? I didn't take her she was lost because you lost her. Your own daughter"
"I don' care what you say freak! Get away from my daughter" she picks her up and starts walking away in a fury.
"B-bye mister!" Elly says.
"I wave back but feel bad now because there is now a gossip gong around that I kidnapped a child...People start murmuring and I walk off into the crowd alone.
-12 minutes later-
I searched around but finally see Lissa speaking to her butler on the steps of a higher level sitting waiting. I assume for me. I get myself past the crowds and into the proximity of her and some guards which stop me with spears in arms.
"Woah calm down guys just here to speak with her"
"not so fast lizard...No one goes in the proximity of her, especially a-"
"Coda!" the guards look back and she runs past them and hugs me around my waist shocking the guards and people especially. People start murmuring and gossiping again.
"I am so glad you came!"
"I am to but it seems you are alone? Want you uhm. Do something?"
"Y-yeah! I would love to!"
We both start walking towards the dining area and there is a feast going on at the tables.
"Hey uhm, can I hold your hand?"
"Sure"
We both start holding hands at the table and not before long people start murmuring AGAIN. It is like anything I do causes a stir. I just don't get it. I am just another guest here. I sit down with her and we both get ourselves food from the butlers. I got salmon and some eggs. She got herself some sort of meat I don't recognize.
As we start eating we start chatting about some current events.
-5 minutes later-
So apparently there is potential war because of Brunich and Hystian factions are fighting over border disputes and that's causing a stir that a war will start between the town countries again.
"So, who is mostly in the wrong here?"
"I am not sure Coda, but I think the elves are mostly. They have always acted high and mighty above the beastmen and often slander the beastmen constantly."
"Hmm. So far it sounds like this might go to war from what it sounds like"
"Maybe, hopefully not. I don't want to live through a conflict where innocents die"
I can understand that but what can we do to stop this years-long bloodshed of war? I can only hope not. As we are talking a man comes up to us in a grey suit with bowtie brown hair and brown eyes.
"Hello, Miss Marrygolden...I hope you are enjoying this party you set up." the man says siping from a wine glass.
"Oh I am, please meet Coda the one who saved me from the kidnapping a day ago"
"Pleasure to meet you sir."
"A pleasure as well sir"
We hold hands for a while and I feel this tense atmosphere in the air. I don't like his aura. But eventually, we release our hands and nod a bit.
"I heard that you saved Miss Marrygolden from the kidnapping on your own? with nothing but your bare hands and a rope"
"I don't know about the rope though but yes most of it was by hand and I jumped off the carriage that was going to crash."
"Interesting...Miss Marrygolden are you sure this, man is the one to have saved you and wasn't apart of the fiends who kidnapped you?"
"W-what!? Of course not he risked his life to save me!"
"Calm down Lissa-" I say but get stopped by the grey-suited man
"Hold on, don't address Marrygolden so casually you fiend I don't trust you one bit so don't go speaking to her like that!"
"Jacob don't do this!" she says
"No, I will not let this fiend fool you!" he takes his glass of wine and throws it into my face shocking many of the party-goers watching.
*gasps*
I stand there with my eyes closed and open them to Jacob with a smirk on his face and Liss what her hands over her mouth in shock at what he has just done. I will admit I paid a lot for this suit but I don't have time to deal with this baffoon who disrespected me. I turn around and walk away from the man wiping my face with a napkin and gritting my teeth. Some people walk away from me which is a good idea since I am pissed.
I continue walking and make my way to the balcony and stand there for a while to calm down and then I will go back inside. As I stand there I realize in this world I will definitely be treated differently for a while but I should endure it otherwise I might prove them right in some way. I should be better.
I calm down and look at my sticky suti a bit but I don't care. I walk back inside and some murmurs start again for the 100th time. Likely about the guy Jacob throwing his wine in my face.
I start walking calmly looking for Lissa but I can't find her. I ask around but most of them gave me vague answers or no answer at all. Annoying. I take off my tie and throw it in me pocket as it is started to rile me p for some reason. Sort of uncomfortable.
