Chapter 22 - Ramsey the Hellhound

Before either of them could react, Daphne had jumped up and lunged straight into the devil's embrace, her arms and legs wrapping tightly around the man.

The creature that had just entered the room looked up at the two of them, shock also passing through his red eyes as he slowly swayed his body into the room, the door shutting behind him after he entered.

Lucifer's arms lifted up slightly into the air, unsure of how to react as he stumbled back slightly from the sudden unexpected weight.

The screaming lasted for several seconds, and probably alarmed many maids passing by in the hallway who were too afraid to peek their heads in and see what was going on. Daphne's eyes were tightly shut as she held onto her life, wondering what it was she had just seen.

After a long time, only after she was certain that nothing was coming for her did she slowly blink one eye open and then the other. She pulled her head back slightly, and as she did so, her eyes met with those amused red eyes, staring at her as if he was looking at something he had never seen before.

Only now did Daphne realize what she had just done, and she was going to get off, but she caught notice of the "thing" from the corner of her eyes again, and she refused to let go. Even if this devil was very scary, at least he still looked relatively human, and had not harmed her yet.

But that thing on the ground. . . Who knew if she stepped foot on the ground, the thing would suddenly come at her and bite her or something?

"Wh - what is -" Daphne's voice cracked as she spoke, lifting her legs up a little higher along his tall and well-built body, which was like a tree trunk to her right now.

Lucifer tilted his head slightly, looking at his cute little pet on the ground with a smile and then at Daphne. His eyes traveled down the body attached to his and then his smile widened, really enjoying her reaction.

He casually lifted his hands up, placing them beneath her legs to support her. However, once she felt his touch against the area near her bottom, she forgot all fear and jumped back down onto the ground again, maintaining a distance from the two of them.

She hugged herself in a protective stance, her eyes darting back and forth from the devil and the. . . was that a dog? Well, if it was, she had never seen a dog as ugly as that one.

The four-legged creature on the ground had ink black fur and blood red eyes, and was the size of a wolf. The dark fur seemed to stand up on its own in a very creepy and ugly way, and with all the black, the creature's red eyes looked especially alarming.

However, it was what was in the eyes that really made Daphne's heart pound. The creature's eyes were frightening, ten times worse than a wolf's eyes before it pounded.

They looked wicked, and truly reminded Daphne of a devil, making the real devil in front of her seem much more friendly. The creature also had fangs that he did not bother to hide, and they seemed sharper than a knife.

"Ramsey, come here," Lucifer said calmly, looking over at the creature with soft eyes as if he was looking at some bunny rabbit.

The dog, or whatever creature, was very obedient and immediately moved over to Lucifer, meaning he was also closer to Daphne, who practically plastered herself against the wall.

The creature looked at Daphne coldly, his eyes not showing any emotion as he turned his ugly head back towards his owner, snarling slightly as he showed his crooked array of yellow teeth that were more like sharpened fangs, which made Daphne's legs feel weak.

"Lu - Lucifer. . ." Daphne called, the first time she said his name from fear as she edged towards the corner, afraid to move too quickly, "What is that?! No, whatever that is, can you please get it away from me?"

Lucifer bent down slightly, running his long fingers through the creature's black and tangled fur as he looked up at Daphne, who was sweating by now.

He raised one eyebrow, wondering why she looked so scared. Did she think his little Ramsey was scary?

"My hellhound?" He asked coolly, and the hellhound named Ramsey also looked up at Daphne, as if he could understand their conversation.

"Hellhound?! What in the world is a hellhound?!"

"This is a hellhound," Daphne heard the devil say, pointing at the creature, who stretched his back like a wolf, snarling his teeth again.

"Go over," Lucifer suddenly said, patting Ramsey on his back, pushing him over to Daphne, whose eyes widened in shock. With nowhere to go, Daphne could only watch as the menacing looking creature annoyedly moved towards her, swaying his tail back and forth.

"You devil! Lucifer!" Daphne screamed, genuinely scared of the creature with sharp fangs that literally looked like it would eat anyone that wasn't his owner.

However, Lucifer only smiled as he watched, folding his arms together as his little pet smiled in a similar way. However, when Ramsey neared Daphne, he suddenly came to a stop.

Lucifer raised one eyebrow, his eyes unable to believe it as he watched his hellhound suddenly whimper and slowly retreat back to Lucifer.

Daphne, who had her eyes tightly shut, slowly opened them again when she didn't hear or feel anything.

"What are you doing?" Lucifer looked down at his pet coldly, and saw as Ramsey whimpered timidly again, hiding behind his owner.

". . ." Daphne was equally surprised, wondering how this terrifying creature was actually a bunny rabbit inside. Seeing the hellhound hide behind his owner pitifully, Daphne felt her heart melt, even though the creature still looked disgusting.

Ah, women were just easily swayed like that!

Daphne slowly edged towards the creature, the one to move now. She glared at Lucifer, muttering, "Why didn't you tell me your little pet right here isn't scary or ferocious at all?"

Daphne bent down, looking at Ramsey, whose red eyes were still scary but had lost all of its menacing nature to it now. Instead, they looked pitiful and kind of. . . scared?

"Aw, you poor creature. Are you scared of your owner too?" Daphne asked, moving towards it. Even though she still found the creature utterly disgusting, it didn't seem as scary now.

Lucifer's lips twitched, looking at Daphne and his pet with no words to say. Scared of him?! His hellhound. . . scared of him?

Lucifer looked down at Ramsey, who was eyeing Daphne as if she was some sort of monster.

"Ramsey, what's wrong with you?!" Lucifer asked.

"What's wrong with him? There is nothing wrong with him. He's just a little scared!"

Scared? Lucifer looked at Ramsey, his hellhound, the most powerful animal creature in all of Healeh. The King of all hellhounds, fearful of nothing, except perhaps his owner, Lucifer Black.

Lucifer raised one eyebrow, his gaze changing to look at Daphne.

Was his hellhound afraid of this woman?
