Silence suddenly befell in the whole study room. Everyone's faces suddenly turned intense. Even Zach couldn't help clenching his fist, feeling more guilty as he listened.
"We are not saying that she is committing something against the law. We could see that she wasn't that kind of person." Grandpa Rainford took over before he halted.
"I am very clear that she was exceptionally disciplined and strict as a soldier. Otherwise, we wouldn't let Anna take Angie back with her using the contract as an excuse."
"We also ran an investigation. It is said that her father suddenly went missing when she was twelve. Therefore, she has been helping her mother to raise her siblings."
At age of 14, Angie also left home to continue her studies after getting a scholarship and staying with her father's relatives. She would also send money to her mother as support for her siblings.
She was 16 when she returned home and met Zach. Then, Angie gave birth to her baby in Island City, but after that, they disappeared with her ex-husband who claimed to be her boyfriend and promised to marry her when she turned 18.
'That damn ex-husband again!' Zach cursed in his mind as his eyes turned colder and colder.
At that period, Angie, together with her baby and ex-husband, barely went back home until they suddenly divorced and left the child to her mother before leaving again.
"She graduated as a management student at the age of 18, but guess how she got her degree?" Grandpa Rainford added after explaining.
The solemn expression of Grandpa Rainford caused Zach to suddenly feel nervous. He unconsciously clenched his fist before taking a deep breath and nodded for them to continue.
"She accelerated and entered the well-known P university of P country at the age of 14. But aside from her name, there were no students who personally knew her."
"They said she was an excellent student, but only a few university instructors had seen her. All her assessments were done through a live computer examination."
"This is how she got her degree, but no one knows her location and is not even aware of her having a child."
"Not just that, the neighborhood where her father's relatives lived was located in a private place where no one had seen her at all. This could be the reason why you couldn't find her all these years."
"What made us feel more suspicious is why the P University gave her such a privilege at such a young age."
"She may be considered as a genius after successfully entering a university at the age of 14, but her exemption is something that no other students had ever received." Grandpa Rainford solemnly declared.
"Are you.." Zach was interrupted before he could even complete his words.
"As a part of our family, as your wife, mother of your child, and the next madam of the Rainford family, we need to be careful of her situation." Grandpa Rainford intercepted.
"We do suspect her identity. The way she moves and her discipline and strictness as a soldier make me doubt if she belonged in the military."
"But I noticed her hands were smooth and had no cocoons. There are no other signs that could prove that she knows how to use a gun and was from any army."
"We guess that she behaved like a soldier because her father's relative who took her in used to work for the military, but he is not a soldier of P country."
Another silence befalls them. This news made Zach feel uncomfortable for not knowing anything about his wife. Nor what she had experienced in the past.
"Not a soldier from P country? How come my wife is with them?" Zach inquired curiously.
Grandpa Rainford halted as he didn't respond right away. He seemed hesitant to speak.
Angie's uncle was indeed a soldier, who had been hit by a bullet on the back of his knee cap, becoming disabled. He retired early from the army and decided to stay in P country after marrying his wife.
The Rainford family found out that there was no blood relationship between Angie's father and her uncle. But they declared themselves as step-brothers, while her uncle's wife was a native of P country.
To be exact, their investigation showed that Angie's father was an orphan. A child who is not a native of P country which is why she had mixed foreign looks.
"There is also a possibility that Angie's father was also a soldier, but her mother or even your wife may not be aware of it." Grandpa Rainford let out his guess.
The investigation shows that Angie's father and uncle met before her father married her mother. They became best friends while her uncle's parents decided to adopt her father despite his old age.
"I am suspicious about her father who was a seafarer. He suddenly went missing while the company branch in P country even closed at the same time."
"There is a possibility that Angie's father may belong to marine troops and may have also been sacrificed. But her father probably did not disclose about his family which is why they were not informed and thought he was missing." Grandpa Rainford added.
Zach felt something was wrong, "Then where is her uncle registered as a soldier?"
He didn't get a response right away as the temperature around the whole study room suddenly dropped. There was an unexpected solemnity surrounding everyone.
"Z country." Grandpa Rainford mumbled in a low but deep voice, yet it was enough for everyone to hear his answer.
This was like a thunderbolt that fell directly on Zach's head. They were born and lived in Z Country, while Angie's uncle was also the same, then what about her father?
'Could it be that my father-in-law was also a soldier? Then, my wife....' Zach didn't dare to continue.
He suddenly shuddered. His mind couldn't help visualizing different scenarios which was enough to make him feel frightened.
