It is the morning of my first day at Devan's house. I feel a little headache when I open my eyes. It must be from the crying from last evening. I am sure when Devan left the room I was fine. I was kind of excited about my new room and bathroom. I even got to unpack my stuff and arrange it somehow.
However when I sat back on the bed, the misery and memories flooded back in my head breaking me. I broke out into a quiet sob and let out the pain and frustration through my tears muffling any sound in the pillow. I don't know how I dozed off but I wake up in the morning.
I have a job interview in an hour which means I should get on my feet and survive like I always do. My life has been comprised of that since I can remember. Taking a longer bath than usual thanks to the warm water, I walk back inside the room to chose the perfect outfit for today.
Settling on a white button up and a black pencil skirt, I sum up the look with a little make up to cover up my bags and slightly puffy eyes. I wouldn't want my future employer asking questions.
Walking downstairs, I hear a noise in the kitchen which forces my legs into that direction. I regret my decision the moment my eyes find the sight infront of me. A clothed Devan is a good sight but a shirtless one is just a sight for sore eyes. My heart is going to explode from throbbing so hard.
"Morning. Did I wake you?" Devan turns from the coffee machine and immediately my knees weaken. I am not virgin and I can gladly say that but in front of this fine species of a man, I look like one. Why does he have to look this good?
And what the hell is the deal with the sweat? Right, he is from working out. Don't look. I yell at my brain to send the signals as immediately as possible to my eyes but it is late. I have looked down from his eyes down his defined tanned torso to his joggers. Holy crap!
I swear I didn't mean for my eyes to go directly to his crotch but for some reason they got stuck there. I swallow hard when I notice the outline of whatever he has under those joggers before I force myself to look away.
The smirk he has up his lips makes me blush furiously. I should not have been staring for long.
"Coffee?" he raises a cup to me. I am out of words for now after being caught in 4K. I know he is hot but why can't I be subtle about it?
I literally snap it out of his hands which widens his smirk.
"You slept early yesterday. You didn't eat dinner so I thought you must be hungry." he says.
"Thanks. I was tired I guess." I reply.
A silence passes for a while before I realise his stare on me.
"I should go." I mutter quickly avoiding his gaze. Something about it makes me fidgety and nervous. It is like my brain stops working in his presence.
"Good luck on your job interview." he mutters. That halts my steps. Is it that obvious?
"Your dress code says it all." Devan smiles.
"Thanks." I murmur before I rush our of the room for my dear life. Either I am thinking things or I hear a chuckle from the kitchen. He might be enjoying all this then.
A taxi halts in front of the high skyscraper. JJ Games Co. That is where I applied for the job of a software developer. I loved my job down at the coffee shop but with these debts suffocating me, I need a batter pay. Earning a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science was hard but now that I have it, I don't want it go to waste.
Entering the lobby of the building, I realise how busy the building is. Quickly I rush to the elevator before I am late. It is ten minutes before my interview and the offices are on the thirty eighth floor. When I get off the elevator, I walk to the receptionist whose name is Doug guessing by the tag on his shirt.
"Hey," I greet.
"Hey miss. How may I help you?" he aks kindly.
"Nellie Jacob's. Here for an interview at nine." I answer.
"Yes. Mr. McCain will see you in a few minutes. Take a seat over there. I will call your name when it is your turn." Doug explains.
After thanking him, I walk towards the empty seat greeting the two girls at the other end who heed me no attention. How rude. I guess they are also here for the job and they see me as competition.
After a painful five minutes, Doug calls my name. He mouthes a good luck before I walk towards the intimidating large door making a timid knock. I walk inside when the person mutters a come in.
"Ms. Jacobs."
I stare confidently at the person who just read my name. When he lifts his head up to catch my gaze, I frown. The Mr. McCain I expected is not the one I find. I visioned an old rotund guy with circular frames over his eyes behind that desk much to my dismay.
Instead there is a handsome young guy behind the desk. He might probably be twenty six or twenty seven with dark hair, a chiseled jaw and his dark brown eyes are covered with glasses giving him a mix of nerdy and handsome.
"Did I catch you offguard?" he asks. I clear my voice realizing I had been staring. This is my technically future boss for all I know and I am oggling him. How proffessional.
"Don't answer that. I get that look a lot." he smirks. I smile akwardly.
"Take a seat and let's get this done with, shall we Ms Jacobs." Mr. McCain offers.
"Your CV is impressive Ms Jacob. However if I may ask, what are you looking for in this job? he asks.
"JJ is one of the best game making companies in the world. It would be an honor to work with the best gaming franchise in the world. I look forward to giving the best in my job because I understand there is no room for errors in this job. I look forward to improving my skills and becoming a better person so as to provide the best of my capabilities." I answer.
"Very well Ms Jacobs. Why should I hire you?"
"I believe that I am capable candidate for this job sir. I am very good with computers from programming languages, coding to designing the best algorithms. I will provide the best of my skills to the company and help improve them by partnering with my colleagues to see a way forward. I believe team work makes miracles than a single head."
"That's impressive Ms Jacobs." he smiles.
"We are done here. I wish you luck." he mutters.
As soon as I reach the exterior of the room, I sigh hard. That was a freaking death trap in there.
"You alright?" Doug asks.
I guess." I smile a little.
"You will be." he says.
"Thanks. See you Doug." I walk out the building praying so hard. I have worked so hard for this job.
