Yao Wang quickly followed the ghost, hurrying along the darkened path. It seemed the two had been walking for years, even though it had only been a few minutes. Yao Wang walks alongside the ghost, watching him. XingYing was a perfect name for the ghost king. Mysterious and smart. It worked greatly with his personality. How he held himself.
He smirked, licking his lips before turning to Yao Wang. "You're staring." He observes simply, before turning back to the path. Yao Wang quickly stops, looking opposite to the woods. The conversation ended there, XingYing not saying anything, and Yao Wang not either. Well, not for a moment at least. "You said you don't like your name that people gave you, what's the name?" Yao Wang asks.
XingYing didn't say anything, seemingly not hearing what Yao Wang had said. But it was obvious that he did, since his smirk faded into a thin line. Yao Wang smiled, crossing his arms over his chest. He stared at XingYing, this time on purpose. "You're not going to say anything? Did you not like my question now?" Yao Wang teased. But still, the ghost king didn't say anything.
Yao Wang sighed, taking a different approach. "I heard about you. Well, some of my colleagues did. They told me that you are the King of the Ghosts. You're very powerful. Took on ninety nine of Heaven's best Melee Gods, and won. Almost won against Tao Wu." Yao Wang didn't have a mocking tone, instead a proud one. An envious one. "Well, I think, based on what I saw earlier." Yao Wang takes a breath.
"That you let Tao Wu win. Because if a ghost won against the King of the Gods, chaos would ensue. So you made sure that didn't happen-"
XingYing stopped Yao Wang from saying anything else, placing his hand on Yao Wang's stomach, holding the man back from taking another step. XingYing was quick, stepping diagonally behind Yao Wang. He readjusted his hand, one gripping his waist, and his gloved one over his mouth.
"Follow my lead."
XingYing slowly stepped forward, Yao Wang doing the same. He looked around him, trying to find what the ghost was so worried about. Well, XingYing didn't seem worried. He wasn't ever worried. Instead, he was more mysterious. Yao Wang started to hate using that word. That was the only one he could think of. THe man was, well he was mysterious.
A howl came from behind them, making XingYing sigh. He let go of Yao Wang, allowing the young god to turn around. There was a small pack of wolves, with glowing red eyes. They all glared at Yao Wang, seemingly ignoring XingYing, who still had his head turned. They weren't normal wolves, instead ghostly ones. Normal wolves are enchanted with ghostly properties.
Yao Wang grabbed his dao, pointing it threateningly at the ghost dogs. Slowly, beginning at his wrist, a pale blue light began glowing. It slid down his hand to the blade, allowing the weapon to glow the same color. Yao Wang's eyes glowed a bright blue, his hair floating up slightly. "Xui." Yao Wang whispered. He waved the dao into the air, before slamming it into the ground.
The light blue color of his aura shined through the cracks, his dao sticking up perfectly. The wolves growled at him, ready for a vicious fight. Yao Wang knew he would win, it was an easy fight to say the least. Wolves went on instinct, not intellect. Ghost wolves were luckily no different to nature. Before Yao Wang could strike, XingYing did something extraordinary.
He turned around, his red and black lace hanfu twirled in the air. His hair flew as well, before both gently flattened back to their original state. Dust was kicked up slightly from his black boots. His crimson eyes glanced devilishly at the wolves, his red lips arching into a bloody smirk.
Instantly the four wolves whimpered, backing up from the two. Yao Wang stood in shock, watching XingYing. A look. A look was all the wolves needed to be scared. The wolves stared at XingYing with fear, before running into the wooded areas, disappearing behind trees. XingYing hummed, licking his lips once more before turning around once again, beginning to walk to where they were going. Which was nowhere.
At first, Yao Wang stood there, still in shock, but soon he began running to catch up to XingYing. "What did you do? Did you curse them or something?" Yao Wang asked curiously. He wanted to know. Yao Wang didn't know most of the ghost's powers, but this had to be something else. He didn't think even gods could induce whatever XingYing just did.
XingYing didn't say anything, his arms held together behind his back. Yao Wang frowned. Not the silent treatment. Yao Wang was honestly beginning to get tired of such a thing. The silence treatment was something he didn't want to hear. Well, he didn't want to not hear. "XingYing, you don't want to tell me anything. Tell me something, it doesn't have to be personal. I just want to know you." Yao Wang sighed.
"Don't think I didn't see you."
That was all XingYing said, yet it made Yao Wang go through tens of waves of emotions. Yao Wang acted normal, however, only slowing down his steps. "You.. saw everything…." Yao Wang asked. XingYing didn't say anything, yet a smirk was obvious on his face. This man was something from a different realm.
"It was obvious from the start. Your aura. I could feel it. You're a new god, not exactly able to hide it like others. I could feel your warmth." XingYing explained it simply. Yao Wang was warm? Such a weird way of describing things, but Yao Wang didn't mind it. He didn't mind it at all. It felt nice that XingYing wasn't being silent.
But Yao Wang also felt the worries that came with XingYing now knowing he's a god. That worried Yao Wang the most. After all, XingYing doesn't like Heavenly Deities. In fact, he hates them, to the core. So after all his hard work, it seemed Yao Wang had wasted it.
"I heard you didn't like gods, does that mean you don't like me?"
For the first time, it seemed XingYing's shield around himself faulted. His smirk drained, instead a small smile forming. It wasn't anything big, but it was big for Yao Wang. For some reason, at that moment, Yao Wang didn't feel like he was trying to play against XingYing, instead he was playing with the ghost king. XingYing smiled and quickly faded.
"You wanted to know something about me, didn't you?"
