The sound of Obito returning from Kamui chills Ay's spine. A moment of realization for the 'Unruly Ay.' He stands no chance.
As Obito stands in the middle of the Raikage and Tsuchikage's wounded bodies, both rulers experience a chilling moment as they realize Obito now has the choice of who to get first.
"A severe loss for a Kage; Ryuu always said you were quick to temper."
Obito walks towards the Raikage first, "I'll let you in on a secret in case you and the fence-sitter try this again."
Holding Ay by the neck and pulling him up, Obito says, "Ryuu has infinite knowledge of what you and your army are capable of. There is nothing we don't know about, and it doesn't stop here. We know about the projects you haven't even begun with."
Ay clenched his fist weakly. He attempted to fight back, but his efforts were futile against Obito's draining embrace.
Obito's voice was calm, almost dispassionate, as he continued, "Your lightning chakra mode, impressive as it may be, has its limits. Just as every technique does, understanding those limits is key."
As he spoke, Obito's grip tightened, not out of necessity to restrain Ay but to emphasize his point. 'This technique is perfect. It's what helps me keep up with Kakashi and Ryuu.'
Obito remembers when he and Ryuu were developing this jutsu.
----------------------------------------
A few months ago, when the Uchiha were still 'recovering' from their heavy loss, Ryuu would find more time than usual to train with his friends. And after a lengthy battle against each other. In a fight that lasted until the evening, Obito went to Ryuu as he was drinking water by the river.
----------------------------------------
"Ryuu?" He calls,
Ryuu washes his face as he's drenched in sweat, "Yo, Obito, what's up?" He greets him,
"Well... I sorta need your help." Obito nervously says, "I need a -"
Ryuu nods, "Sure, I was wondering when you'd ask for a new jutsu." He takes his Uchiha shirt and hangs it on his shoulder.
Obito widens his eyes in surprise, "Wait a minute! How did you know I'd ask for a new jutsu?"
Ryuu looks back at Obito with a smirk, "It's not that difficult to know when you're struggling to keep up, you know?"
Obito's eyes widened and drifted off onto the ground. He clenched his fist frustratingly: "I can't catch up to you guys. It's starting to feel like back in the day, remember?"
A silent nod from Ryuu as he looks at Obito. "Come on, let's go to my training grounds back home. I'll teach you a jutsu, but only you and I can perform it."
Saying that Ryuu places his hand on Obito's shoulder,
Whoosh! Both of them appeared in the middle of Ryuu's backyard.
"You honestly don't have to do this. I mean, I should have already created one by myself."
Ryuu smacks the back of Obito's head,
"Stop being so stupid. You're my friend. Of course, I'll help you when you're down, you know?"
Obito rubs the back of his head, "Alright already..."
Ryuu grins as he walks towards the center of the lake. "Now then," Ryuu holds his hands out and activates his Mangekyou Sharingan. I'm going to teach you the ultimate counter-ninjutsu. This technique is so perfect that even I won't be able to touch you, no matter how fast I go."
Obito's eyes widen, "Not even you?" Ryuu nods,
"But to learn this technique, we must define how special the close-range Kamui is."
Ryuu holds one hand out, "Intangibility." And then he holds the other hand out, "with teleportation.
When said out loud, sure, this sounds special, but it could sound even better once you understand it all." Ryuu clapped his hands together, and a small ripple in the air formed as if reality itself was bending,
"Kamui like ours interacts with chakra fundamentally, even more so than almost any jutsu. We're capable of folding space, manipulating it to take us where we want, or even better, controlling what touches or doesn't.
But that's all useless when we can't physically touch whatever or whoever we want to bring into Kamui. For example, when you spar with Kakashi and me, you're often overwhelmed by Kakashi's mastery over lightning chakra mode combined with the Sharingan, isn't that right?"
Obito nods embarrassingly, "I thought after all this time, I'd keep up, maybe even be stronger than you two."
"Right, right." Ryuu quickly dismisses the dull mood forming,
"But what I'm going to teach you... is beyond anything you could ever imagine."
Obito balls his fist up as he listens to Ryuu excitedly, "What is it?"
"Using precise chakra control, Yin release, and stealing the concept of Kamui... you and I will willingly make ourselves the center of the universe."
Obito's eyes widened. "The center of the... universe?" He repeats, still baffled.
Ryuu holds a hand out, "Yin release uses the power to create anything out of imagination. We Uchiha inherited Yin from the sage of six paths, and our jutsu are fueled by Yin release for the most part.
I will teach you how to extend Kamui a little further by using Yin release. But before that, I'll teach you how to create a field of nothingness." Ryuu sees Obito rubbing his head and chuckles,
"It doesn't make sense right now, so I'll just show it."
Ryuu holds his hands out.
"I've been secretly working on these techniques, you know? Even without fully mastering them, I got far enough to create this technique."
On his right hand, a sudden electric spark brushes above his palm. "Void release," he mutters,
Sparks of lightning flare around his palm, forming a circle and slowly expanding into a spherical shape. An empty void forms inside the circle with a constant hollow sound followed by a zapping sound echoing.
Obito's eyes widen, and his face is entirely in disbelief, with his jaw dropping as well.
"What you're seeing right now is something that exists yet doesn't exist just yet."
"What?" Baffled by what Ryuu said, Obito could only question him,
"This technique isn't real. I'm creating a visual for what it could look like, what manipulating space would look like." Ryuu explains.
Even as he explained, Ryuu focused entirely on his technique. He was almost mesmerized by the idea itself, like a mad scientist with a new project.
Ryuu's explanation left Obito speechless. He was trying to understand the concept of manipulating space itself. The void before him seemed to defy all logic, a mere illusion created by Ryuu's mastery of Yin release.
"As you can see, as long as you can imagine it if you can think of what you want, you'll be able to create it using Yin release and, more importantly, refined control."
With a final flourish of his hand, Ryuu dispersed the void, the sparks of lightning fading away. Obito was left staring at the space where it had been with wonder and curiosity.
"Now, I've demonstrated the power of Yin release. It's time for you to try it out." Obito's face registers shock as he stammers, "Wait, you don't mean I have to do that... do you?"
Ryuu chuckles, "Are you kidding me? Hell no! I just want you to create the idea of the universe around you." he says playfully.
Obito slumps forward, clearly taken back by Ryuu's nonchalant tone. "You're joking, right?" he mumbles.
Ryuu shakes his head, "No joke. Watch this."Shadow clone jutsu!" Ryuu weaves the hand seals and creates a clone of himself.
"Ready?" the clone asks as Ryuu nods and extends a hand towards it.
The clone tosses a kunai into the air and swiftly performs more hand seals, "Shuriken shadow clone jutsu!"
The kunai multiplies, sending a barrage towards Ryuu. As they approach, they shrink down before reaching him.
Obito's eyes widen in amazement. "That's... incredible..."
"That's the potential of Yin release," Ryuu responds casually.
"You've seen it, haven't you? With the Sharingan, you should've seen how I activated it."
Obito nods, "I saw it, but... I just don't get it. I mean to change the perception of space around you; it's incredible."
Ryuu shakes his head, "It's not just about perception, you know? You have to create a field of energy with your chakra." Obito imagines a chibi Ryuu demonstrating. Ryuu forms a hand seal, forcing incredible amounts of chakra out, "Once you've done that, you use Yin release to alter your own chakra." Chibi Ryuu's chakra starts to flow around his body in patterns.
"Got it?" The real Ryuu asks,
"Yeah!" Obito nods.
'Honestly, the first part of this shouldn't be any problem. But to change the nature of chakra in such a way that it changes perception is insane.' Obito thinks to himself as he walks closer to the lake's edge.
"Alright!" Ryuu leaps out of the lake,
"See ya later, Obito!" He says while waving.
"You're not going to be here?" Obito asks,
"Hn. You kidding me? It took me a year to create this technique, and I still haven't mastered it. Even now, I can only keep it active for a day. Just keep trying; when you're ready, you can use it with Kamui. That's your main goal, even if it will be for a second."
Ryuu waves as he walks away, "Don't take too long, okay?"
Obito nods enthusiastically, even though he knows what a challenge this will be.
----------------------------------------
Obito snaps back to the fight. He's glaring at the Raikage and walks towards him with a katana.
'I did it...
For only ten seconds, I could slow the Raikage in time using my chakra, and then, as I teleported using Kamui, his hand was taken with me.
But I won.'
A testament to all his training, Obito Uchiha defeated two Kage-level shinobi without causing them too much harm. More importantly, Obito stopped the war.
