"Why?" Andrew asked leaning back on his chair. He was curious about her reasons to dethrone her dear sister.
"Kyra lacks patience and she loses her temper very often." Anna stated and ignoring Kyra's fuming face, she added, "KNIGHTS took a huge blow today because of her grim reaper statement."
"If as a captain you cannot handle yourself then I doubt if she can manage the whole team," Anna explained half-heartedly as Kyra still needed to strengthen her weak spots.
"And you think he can handle the whole team?" Kyra scoffed in disproval.
"He who needs Andrew's help all the time. Do you think he can manage it?" Kyra raised her brow at Kevin. She would lose to anyone but not to him! Not in this lifetime!
"Do you think he can manage it?" She questioned again, but this time looking straight into Andrew's eyes.
"And what makes you better?" Kevin who looked happy till now burst out impatiently.
"You, who couldn't even sense your surrounding and demanded to call a grim reaper! Can you handle this case with such naivete?" He added, making the other two in the room sigh out loud.
These two were at it again! Bickering like kindergarden kids.
"Naive? Huh! Calls the one who can't even do his job without a senior's help!" Kyra replied, mocking him again.
"Should I remind you of the last time you ever succeeded without Andrew's help?" She added, pointing her chin towards Chief Adams who shook his head in disappointment.
He could do anything except for stopping their foolish fight! He might need to take those headache medicines again.
"And let me also remind you the reason why you are still allowed to work here." Kevin glowered standing up from his seat and taking a step forward, he continued, "If not for Chief Adam's request, the bureau would never let a nuisance like you roam around with that ID."
"Oh?" Kyra raised her brows and got up from the couch. Grabbing his ID out of his pocket, she continued, "And you get to wear this ID only because of your filthy rich family!! Did you forget that?"
"Let's not forget that someone is also here because of her great grandma's reputation!" Kevin replied grabbing Kyra's ID.
Both glared at each other, their eyes shooting up with fire, so intense that Andrew sighed out loud. While Anna looked pale, tears of frustration blocked her eyes as she tried to think rationally.
Kyra gritted in anger and clenching his ID tightly, she sneered, "At least I am not a meow meow puppy hiding in his goody daddy shoes!"
"Puppy? Huh?" Kevin breathed out loud. He tightly gripped her ID and asked, "Then what are you? A Weeny Whiny Souring Sorceress?"
"Yeah, better than you, a tiny bony,"
"Will you both shut the fuck up for a minute?" Anna shouted, her hands massaging her temples which were now throbbing in pain.
She was a High Elf, born to a fae father who could read people's minds. And hearing that aggressive thoughts made her mentally break down.
"What are you guys? Kindergarten Kids?" She yelled out loud, so frustrated that her eyes turned purple in displeasure.
Kevin and Kyra glared at each other, cursing with intense anger that Anna almost felt her mind split because of their warlike thoughts.
"STOP IT! WILL YOU?" Anna cried again, her hands moving to her ears.
Kyra turned to her sister and later slowly released his ID though she wanted to kill this damn human. Kevin also dropped her ID and glared at her before taking a step back.
Both continued to glare at each other but sat like statues. Anna was in pure pain and they didn't wish to harm her.
Anna sighed when she felt silence calming her chaotic brain. She took out her AirPods and turned on some instrumentals to calm herself.
Once she felt relieved, she opened her eyes and glared at them. Why was it so hard for them to not fight?
"You guys won't work together in this case if the other party is leading! Will you?" Anna asked in clear agitation.
"I would rather die unemploy than work with this good-for-nothing heir!" Kyra declared and when Anna stared at her, clearly disappointed, she concluded, "And surely not under him as an assistant!"
"And I would rather quit than stick around this trouble-gum!" Kevin added glaring at Kyra and Anna Anna sigh out loud.
Kyra steamed at that remark but held her anger by taking a deep breath. Anna would go crazy again if she argued back.
"And what if I ask you to pair up and lead this case together as a team?" Anna asked though completely aware that it was impossible to convince them.
Both quickly shook their heads, wanting to close this chapter very soon. They were unable to tolerate each other's presence now that the urge to kill each other was worsening with the passing of time.
"Fine then! Don't pair up and just see me die while dealing with this case." Anna replied angrily and got up to walk out. Tears didn't hold back as her mind felt heavy with all their complicated emotions, and her heart couldn't hold that pressure anymore.
"Ohh, you can later happily fight over who should bury me after we clear this case!" Anna added before banging on the door loudly.
A crack even formed on the door as her witch energy took over her feasible human state. She possessed the powers of a hybrid elf, a rare creature who was a mixture of two different races having stronger yet sensitive in most aspects.
"Is she sick?" Kyra asked Andrew who looked sad for some odd reason. He shook his head, leaning behind to rest now that the storm had stopped, but he knew it was only for a moment.
"Then why did she mention death? Does she have any problems?" Even Kevin couldn't help but enquire as it was rare to see Anna bring up such stupid words.
Sighing out loud, Andrew opened his eyes and looked at them. For some odd reason, he didn't feel like scolding them for hurting Anna but worried more about their future. Now that their level of mutual hatred had crossed all limits, he would be left with no better choice but to remove one of them for the peace and tranquility of his unit.
"She is fine. Just worry about this case and that creature" Andrew ordered driving their attention back to the case.
"We have already wasted enough time. Get back to your work and don't start fighting for god's sake!" He made sure to press on the last line.
"Make a report highlighting the culprit's features." He said, looking through his tab and sending the dashcam footage to their respective computers.
"I have sent the video. Search through lost, cold cases, files, drives, and everything in your possibility. Bring me a compatible race list of this culprit so we can proceed with its whereabouts." He assigned them the tasks, the job which Anna had to do right now. She needed time to recover and he was willing to take her place until she was ready to face these two idiots.
"I will do it alone!" Kyra declared, still unwilling to work with him. And that only made Andrew sigh in disappointment.
"Fine! You do it alone and bring me the list by 2!" He said looking at his watch that was now ticking at twelve past half. It was better to keep them on separate tasks, at least till Anna comes back and tames them in her own way.
Looking at Kevin, Andrew ordered, "Go look around the highway one more time and try to read a few more spots. I feel like there are still a few more places with hidden clues."
"But," Kevin hesitated while looking at the time and that only made Andrew sigh out loud. It was not the right time to fear danger.
"Take a pack if are afraid to go alone!" Andrew said, partly irritated and Kyra tried hard to hold back her laughter.
He was scared to go alone? Woah, it was enough for her to taunt him till the end of this case.
Kevin nodded though unhappy that Andrew didn't let him finish. He wasn't afraid to go alone but afraid of being caught in a memory trance, a phenomenon that psychometrists would often experience while tracing memories of a lost soul.
At least that's what he read somewhere in an article. He could only sigh again as no one would understand it except for people like him. And unfortunately, he was the only psychometrist in his unit.
"Get done with your tasks and be in the meeting room before four. We will have a detailed meeting with others!" Andrew said and gestured for them to leave.
"All the best, Mr scardey cat! Hope some ghost haunts you and eats you alive." Kyra commented the moment they were out in the corridor.
Sighing out loud, Kevin just ignored her and walked toward the elevator. He had better things to do than fight with her which only made him sigh again.
Kyra grinned feeling satisfied with the results of that whole drama. She was happy that Kevin didn't get a chance to lead this case though Anna's words had deeply hurt her.
"I will talk with her later." She mumbled before walking to her desk. Like Kevin, even she had important things to do.
